Alright, since this is the de facto Radiohead thread, does anyone know about this Kid 17 business. I read it off another board but have yet to verify its existence. I have actually tried playing two Kid As 17 seconds apart and if you match the beat it does work pretty damn good. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this and/or might have a burned copy? I have only heard about this from one other person so I dont even know if it is for real or it is like a Zaireeka type deal.

I heard about that on atease a few months ago and gave it a listen....some of the songs seemed to fit perfect. I don't think the band has ever addressed the subject though.
Who knew a drunk post by yours truly would turn into THE Radiohead thread...? Quite the honor.
Lots of questions on how long they might play. I've seen them three times, and according to the recordings I have, they time out at:
'01 Hutchinson Field / Grant Park Chicago: 2.1 hours. Yes, this was one of the best shows I've ever seen. '03 Alpine Valley: 1.8 hours '03 St Louis: 1.9 hours
I think we should all expect 2 hours of bliss. And given it's a festival headline event, and no noise curfew, I would not be surprised with 2.5 hours.

Would this work just playing kid a on media player, then 17 seconds later on win amp? And is it the whole album it works on? This is definatly worth checkin out, im too lazy right now though.
When I tried it (Kid 17) all of the songs except for in limbo seemed to work. But you had to recalibrate it every once in a while. Some songs like EIRP work very very well.
I used a music editing software (Acid Pro 4.0) to get the two to play exactly 17 seconds apart. You can do this with pretty much any song tho, you just have to count out the first 4 measures of the song and start the second one then, because all studio tracks have a set tempo. Try it with sit down, stand up, it's pretty sweet. It's interesting with Kid A because it works for more than one track and you really only have to sych it up once for the whole album (but yeah you do have to adjust it a little).

Kid A also matches up decently to the first few minutes of Fight Club (I can imagine it being done as a slight joke on the craze over the Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz matchups, the timing would have been about right). The electronic mashup at the end of "everything" works especially well.
Oh yeah Radiohead were asked to do a soundtrack to Fight Club.
Ok I just did it again after not watching it for a while. Start the music right after the 20th century fox logo, as the "regency" logo starts to draw in. It does work amazingly well for a little while.
Wow...I am so excited for Radiohead. Saw them live one time....it was amazing...I wish I could remember more of it. Now I get a chance to see them again!! They hardly ever tour!!! Soooo woo! See ya all at the show.

I've seen them twice (both times at Red Rocks) and they are the two best shows I've ever seen covering 20 years of shows. It's unreal. They are going to surprise and convert so many of the people at 'roo who are unaware of them. They're the best sounding shows I've heard, the energy in the crowd is on par with a Phish show (a good energy not the feared indie band vibe) and we get great playfulness out of Thom Yorke (who would think he would have so much fun out there?!) And they even play many improv/extended "jams" of their songs. Paranoid Android will be a head exploding moment for many. And Thom's crooning cover of Rhinestone Cowboy is so dead on you can tell he truly loves that song.
Last year after leaving 'roo I kept saying I wished Radiohead would play but I never thought in a million years they would book them. The initial lineup this year made me the happiest rooer you can imagine.
Have faith in us Radioheads. We know what we're talking about. We know the audience and musical tastes we are talking to here on inforoo. TRUST US. You will LOVE this show.
