Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm a new poster, so I'm sure I'll take some heat. There have been a lot of people (and just as many supporters) angry about Radiohead headlining Roo - mainly on the opinion that they're not a "jamband."
What is a jamband?
Is it the ability to play your instruments? Check. Greenwood and O'Brien are two of the best guitar (and laptop) players around. The rhythm section is tight too - just listen to anything like National Anthem.
Does it have something to do with anti-establishment? I'm getting goosebumps thinking of seeing them play No Surprises in front of 50k+. "Bring down the government / they don't speak for you." Oh, and the whole Hail to the Thief record. Check.
Is it extended solos/songs? Well, other than Paranoid Android, you might be disappointed, I'll admit. The sudden endings (not to mention the sudden chord progressions/time changes - see Pyramid Song) may hurt some people. But let's go with quality of song over length of song.
Anyway, for those that are open minded, but not yet exposed to Radiohead, check out:
The Bends (my fav of theirs) OK Computer Kid A (if Floyd had the technology, this is the record they wish they could have made back in ~1973).
I've seen them live three times. I never would have thought they could pull off live what they do in the studio. To call them a product of the modern-day studio is just ignorant. They re-create it to perfection on the stage. Give them a chance, and you won't be disappointed. Trust me.
Because I said so No but seriously, why would you not listen to Radiohead? I don't think there is another artist/band out there with the vast artistic vision that they have. Thom is a f*cking genius with lyrics, and his voice is like golden angel dung. Johnny is a mad scientist, with his guitar and all the other crazy gadgets he manipulates. I really hope they play Idioteque and Everything In It's Right Place, so all y'all that haven't seen em can see what I'm talking about. Thom is also a very politically charged person. Like Bono, only not so d@mn pretentious. See www.thebigask.com
amen danbird. i am thinking the same thing you are. i have never seen them live but i am just retarded at the idea of being able to see them. i can't wait to go and hear them live. they have been my favorite band since i was liek 10 years old. and they have continued to grow on me from there. check them out!
After listening to all of "I Might Be Wrong" again I am ready for some live Radiohead for sure now. I hope they play Idioteque (for that matter i hope they play a lot off of Kid A)
Revolution is not something fixed in ideology, nor is it something fashioned to a particular decade. It is a perpetual process embedded in the human spirit. -Abbie Hoffman

im kinda new to listening to Radiohead...i've got all the albums and had some for years but I haven't spent a lot of time with them. I am trying to now so I can learn more of the songs. I don't know thou for some reason most of the stuff doesn't really grab me. Kid A I do really like. I think I will be a bigger fan after the roo this year.
poll: what three songs do you hope radiohead will play at the 'roo, and which ones do you think will be received well by folks who've never listened to them? i'm hoping to hear:
national anthem talk show host how to disappear completely
i think national anthem would be received well, as well as idioteque and lucky
You gotta figure that Idioteque and Paraniod Android would definitely be played since they play those at most of their shows. They might switch everything up since it is a new tour but with 3.5 hours to fill they most likely will play those two songs.
What songs would be most well received by the masses who arent into Radiohead: Creep (Still is a great song and everyone would recognize it) Karma Police (My all time favorite) Paraniod Android (Just too crazy not to like live)
What are three songs that I would really like to hear: Just Pyramid Song You and Whose Army?
ooohhh another good one from the eurokeens show was everything in its right place.....thom was very playful and giddy during that one.....very happy energy which is perfect for bonnaroo
How to Disappear Completely(And Never Be Found) was the one that blew me away. It was the last song they played, when I saw em my first time. So the last words of the show were "I'm not here, this isn't happening" It was perfect for someone in my frame of mind at the time
may be a retarded question....do people dance a lot at radiohead shows?..i just read a thread somewher else that people just stand around...this true at all? i think that would put a damper on things if people arent dancing tot eh headlining band..later
i can think of a couple of songs that people might "dance" to, but it really doesn't matter, honestly. it's not that people don't dance because they're not enjoying the music, it's just that it's not really dance-type music. you're not standing there bored, you're standing there in awe
"Standing there in awe" is the right way to put it. There might not be alot of dancing at Radiohead shows because somtime indie kids are too cool for school. Even still there should be alot of moving around, it might just not qualify as "dancing".
There is something about them live, when you feel like the band is happier to be playing for you than you are to hear them, which is quite a difficult thing to accomplish when you are talking about your favorite band. Thom is quite animated.
oh, and everytime i've seen them play idioteque live, thom just goes into this insane dance fit and i can't help but laugh because i want to do the exact same thing!
if they opened with electioneering, that would be the greatest thing ever. national anthem. idioteque. the tourist would be incredible. creep would make for one heckuva singalong.

What a lot of people dont understand i think is that they do jam a lot. Most of their live songs are around the 7 minute mark, some shorter some longer. THey dont just play the studio song though, they jam. I think they are a perfect fit for the past and present bonnaroo.
