oh and too that giant douche who said matisyahu is ruining bonnaroo your an idiot he has incredible talent and is a great musician and its sad that someone who has less talent than him like yourself is knocking him thats pretty lame guys... maybe it would just be better for some of you guys if everyone just wore tye shirts grew their hair long and played jam band music the whole time
Avoid calling people douches when they don't agree with your taste in music.

Man, that seems like a long time ago... I remember being into the Cranberries in... I think elementary school? Maybe middle. It's been a long, long time.

i think it would be pretty sweet if the cranberries were at bonnaroo, they would be a really good add right now, especially since we wouldn't expect them.......anyone else think that would be sweet?

Hah. I got dragged to a Kid Rock show in Johnson City a year or so ago. I've got to admit, I HATE his music with a passion, but the man puts on one hell of a show.

ya he does... i grew up in e lansing and he was always playin frat partys and what not.. i saw him at a few housepartys and he used to get made fun of alot...but that was before the millionaire bangin pam anderson thing(mtv is a powerful force) also verve pipe (of mtv" freshman "fame)was from el... in higschool i would deliver pizzas to them and they wouldnt even tip...assholes
yea they suck cuz their not hippes and dont smoke weed and wear tie dye shirts(nothing against people who do ).... actually theyre a good band for their genre its totally different from fallout boy and other bands like that and yes they do have talent and they dont sound band live....and although it would be different having them there it wouldnt be terrible
Yea it would be different having them...Madonna and 50 cent would be different also but, see the thing is that bonnaroo, if you look at the f*cking beginning of the whole damn thing and why it was started!! is that it was all about a festival that was big and i guess mainstream,in terms of other previous jamband festivals, but was built around the jamband scene. So adding My chemical romance would be complete bullsh*it. Im tired of people using the "oh bonnaroo is just becoming diverse thats all" and if you can not appreciate that than just do not go line. Thats rediculous, how can you sit there and try to justify something changing that was meant to be the opposite of what it has become! I mean i am not even a huge jam band fan but damn, I was appreciative of what the bonnaroo community was starting in the beginning. People who see truth have got to see what im stating here. I know my karma is going to go even more into the negative because this board has seem to become more of, for the most part, the people im irritated with but, I dont care because i really feel what im saying is the truth! Keith you got to agree with me on this one.
yep yep.. your preaching to the choir... i agree with ya... have these bands at coachella and lollapaozza not at roo....also i wonder why it is so accetable to jsut stragiht out flame (calling for suicides and what not) ove mcr but when someone says something taht isnt even inflammatory about radiohead, dcfc. , common,or matisyahu....everyone gets their panties in a bunch(if ya dont like mcr then dont go see them, its people like you that cant take diversity that give roo fans a bad name:) (see how dumb it sounds?))...again it seems that this always boils down to the "jam band" issue...its not even what it is about... as i said before noone is bitching about j5, lyrics born, shooter jennings, yonder mountain, g love, atmosphere, etc.... these are not jambands.. noone is being harsh on them, its because the carson dalys of the world are too busy watching matisyahu on trl and they are ignoring decent music...so if the music does not fit into a genere that fits in at roo (not just jam band, more of a non mainstream thing) then why have it? why bring the new crowd? there are plenty of places for these cats to perform why is roo having them?diversity? i think not... it is 2 reasons imo... 1. roo did not sell out last year and they need to try to sell more... but the reason they didnt sell out last year was alot of peopl decided they didnt like the mainstream direction roo had taken(so what do they do? they continue that direction with hthe most mainstream headliners ever seen anywhere near roo...) and now they have "Reduced capapcity" but they only reduced it to the amount of people that ateended last year.. so basically same number of people jjust got rid of the tickets they couldnt sell, and the raised the price to make up for it 2. mainstreamers will spend more of mommys money (and more on the things roo gets paid off of instead of suriving on shrooms and water)then a hippy that scrapes together enough to visit a few festivals a year oh well greed has a way of fucking everything up... luckily it seems that as asoon as the mainstream eats up one event 2 more pop up and start the trend again, in 5 years bonnaroo will be having madonna, mcr, and justin timberlake, and dont forget the extravaganza on thursday night where they will be holding the finals for american idol!!! and people will be saying what the hell happened to waka and 10k, they used to be so good now they are losing their roots... i think i will go to keithkfest instead i know it sounds harsh but it seems as the number of mainstream bands goes up so does the price.....it wont be long before the people who actaully support roo aare going to go elsewhere...summercamp, waka, 10k(until mtv realizes they are cool and it starts all over)...... we will see how long these mainstreamers support the bonnaroo scene... they only like it because someone tells them its cool..once they all show up and drive the cool somewhere else its the end "sad but true".... hey maybe we will be hearing those lyrics at roo soon... im sure lars would love to help out the tapers

It might be harsh, but sometimes the truth hurts. You're right, they do have a more clear perception of their taste than I do, but that doesn't prove that their perception is a good one. I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that most music professionals, musicians and otherwise "music-oriented" people know that My Chemical Romance is not a quality band. Look at their fanbase, its mostly kids age 12-18 who don't otherwise have a clue as to what good music is. Show me a MCR fan who also likes Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and other classic artists, and I'll be very suprised.
I happen to be a huge fan of both the Beatles and Bob Dylan and I can admit that My Chemical Romance has some good songs. It isn't about a music's fan base, it is about the music itself. It's a ridiculous assumption that someone who likes MCR doesn't know what good music is. Oh wait thats right... The Beatles fan base was who, oh yeah 12-16 year old girls.

I'm inclined to disagree. A very good indicator of a musician's talent is shown in their fan base. Take the IQ of your average Dylan fan versus the IQ of MCR fans, and I think you'll notice a large desparity. I'm sorry, but if you think MCR is good music, you've been miseducated in the field. Its true, the Beatles fan base STARTED as 12-16 year old girls (I would argue that it was equally male and female, it just so happens that most video clips of the beatles feature screaming young girls). However, by their 3rd or 4th album there was a noticable shift in fan base. The same 16 year old girls who loved "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" were not the same fans who praised The White Album as pure genius. The Beatles had numerous well-balanced fan bases spanning age, race, gender, and intellect; MCR does not and will not ever have that.

kool kalm keith coming thru again
i agree, i dont understand how people think they know what is good music and what isn't. They think they do, but really what they are discribing is how they prefer one type of music to another.

my attitude?!?!!? did ya miss the guy telling people to kill them selves and say that their iq is less then his because he likes a different kind of music and the people who wanna meet up and discuss it at roo??????.. there is a certain group on here that like to change everything i say into some negative thing...and repeatedly smite me.... jesus man grow up

What i said didnt come out right. I meant to meet up and talk about our thoughts on music not really discussing killing yourself for listening to a certain type of music.

I'm not a fan of MCR but my sister had me listen to that helena song... It's not my favorite by any means, but it's not God-awful. I think that the whole red makeup thing is a little much, but there's much worse out there. For instance, I know plenty of people who listened to SCORPIONS! back in the day. And as for their fanbase being only giddy twelve year old girls, it's true, however, I belive that this forum, the discussions that lie withing, and that countdown to bonnaroo website (that has replaced google as my homepage) has proven that there still lies a giddy twelve year old child within all of us. In short: don't hate. Odds are the people listening to My Chemical Romance will hate themselves for it later on down the road.
Please, please, guys, let's not get so ugly! I know everyone's got different opinions about the bands this year, but can we please discuss it without calling each other douche bags? It's so NOT Bonnaroo!!
