Just so everybody knows. Cypress Hill recently became a rock/rap group. They even had a dual CD released about five years ago that was all rap on one disc and all rock on the other. Don't know how people will feel about this but I thought I'd bring it up so everyone know's that Cypress Hill is not straight Hip Hop anymore. They had That one song Rap Superstar and on the other CD it was called Rock Superstar. Check it for yourself.

Thankees.
And HOLY HELL, if Underworld were added I would literally start dancing now and not stop until Bonnaroo. Underworld or Orbital.
ive seen both, but underworld is my all time fave electronic act - but what would own us is if darren was with underworld
Underworld is my all time fave as well, but Orbital was the first electronic act I really got into. And if Darren was with Underworld? Yeah. Words can't describe.

Orbital quit playing a couple years ago - last show was @ Maida Vale in the UK, broadcast on John Peel's show. That would be way too good.
Underworld would ROCK it too. One day, Squarepusher will come to Bonnaroo and rip everyone's faces off with a sickle.
I know, sadly. Orbital is mostly wishful thinking. It's about as farfetched as I can get.
Squarepusher would be great to see. Ahh, where would we be without wishful thinking?

I saw []< in ATL in '04. MIND BLOWING. TOTAL SENSORY OVERLOAD. If he'd put out a new album and tour the US, there might be a chance in years to come...

I have to admit, I am a bit dissappointed in the additions. Maybe it was because my expectations where so high. Don't get me wrong, I'll def. check out Cypress for a few minutes and the all stars. But the jamband fan in me feels this Bonnaroo needs a big act or two in round 5. SCI, Keller, Ben Harper, please!
Post by futurecowboy on Mar 30, 2006 16:30:23 GMT -5
...don't mean to transfer hate from PT Phish to here, but I'm really looking forward to SCI NOT playing this year. I actually heard that they refused to play if they weren't given a headlining slot (may be nannigans, but that's what I heard).
i agree that you cant please everyone allthe time. I welcome this shocking news and actually makes more pumped. I never thought i would have the chance to see Cypress Hill and the Refugee Allstars sounds like a nice new experience. And as one part of the scale tips the other has to balance out so maybe there will be addition of more jam bands or indie rock type in round 5

i am loving this... especially how it is mostly hip hop... maybe that means a mostly jam announcement is in the works.... i am excited as hell... i agree with someone earlier, cypress hill i have always wanted to see but never thought id have the chance... i will say that this brings in more of those newcomers im so scared of but fuck it i wanna dee em and i am psyched about it... i was really thinking it would just be the ones that we had already heard.... i am pleasently surprised... where is the offical scofield announcement?
I have a feeling this announcement didn't have a hip hop flavor as sheer coincidence. I think Superfly was probably trying to appeal to many different hip hop fans and give them incentive for throwin' down the cash to go to 'Roo. Most Jam Band fans probably have made their decision to go to 'Roo already and the addition of Jam Bands will probably come later just to put the frosting on their cake.
inky - There are at least 20-30 indie acts already. I'm probably in the minority, but I want some live electronics (not "jamtronica", I mean live electronic music). Sasha is as close to live as the lineup is now -- he quit spinning vinyl & uses a custom-made controller to mix. It's almost live, but not really.
P.S. - It will NOT be the UCB from the TV show. They have a whole acting troupe of other people that tour (including Paul Scheer & Rob Heubel).
FYI Tortured Soul is a live electonic band that plays groovy house with a jazzy flair with live bass, keys, and drums. They should be right up your alley. But I do agree that they should add some more live electronica. Usually the Streets tours with a band, so I dont know if that is appealing to you, but I thought he was pretty damn good when I saw him.
I also saw the Cypress show in Atlanta two years ago and it was a great show. They played all the songs that I wanted to hear, played up to the crowd, did some nice stage props with a six footer, and had a 12 foot inflated Budda which was good stuff. That was a fun show, everybody got into it. By the way Blues Traveler opened for them.
Anyways, I know that the jam band community is probably not pleased but I am sure that they will hook you guys up. They already gave you a Umphrees, Disco Biscuits, and Oysterhead so they wanted to go hip-hop for this announcement. I am sure that by the end of all the announcements everyone will get a little something that they wanted and probably some acts that they will enjoy seeing live.
And the comedy tent should be pretty good stuff. I keep hearing that it is packed but I am going to try to get in there for Patton at least.

nobodys talking about upright citizens brigade.. that is awesome... i almost never catch any of these extras but in really gonn try to catch that and electric apricot....
Well with UCB it's probably not the original UCB cast but part of their extended touring family... as much as I've love to see the original cast I doubt it.
I have to wonder, though, what's with all the hip hop? It's not really a camping-centric demographic...

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

hells yes the streets!!
See I reckon you're about an 8 or a 9, Maybe even 9 and a half in four beers time. That blue top shop top you've got on IS nice, Bit too much fake tan though - but yeah you score high.
i love it!
and yeah this looks like the best comedy tent yet. might have to check it out. they really should make it bigger though.

Anybody else think that the Streets will probably open up the Sasha late night set? That's a perfect fit. I feel like the Streets have to play late night, and that would be incredible.
Oh man. I can't wait.
I was so juiced about Bonnaroo before, but when they added The Streets, things got out of hand.
Wow! Again the promters throw a curve ball with Cypress Hill. Before this announcement I was set, so anything I have curosity about is bonus to me. I have heard good things about The Street and deadboy and Elephantman. Plus they added more Reagee, which is always a plus in my book.
I also like the Comedy tent announcement. I am looking forward to Lewis Black and Demetri Martin...thats if I can squeeze in there to see them. God knows what what the big names will conflict with..but over all solid additions in my book.
