:: ARTIST ADDITIONS - ROUND 4 ::
We are proud to announce the following additions to the Bonnaroo 2006 lineup:
Cypress Hill Blackalicious The Streets Lyrics Born deadboy & the Elephantmen The Refugee All Stars Electric Eel Shock
More announcements to the lineup will be made in the coming weeks. Complete festival information is available at Bonnaroo.com, which will be continually updated.
:: YET ANOTHER (COMEDY) TENT 2006 ::
The Bonnaroo Comedy Tent will return in 2006! National headlining comics had Bonnaroo fans rolling on the floor of this air conditioned on-site comedy club. It'll be nonstop hysteria! Here is this year's lineup:
Lewis Black Patton Oswalt Jasper Redd Jon Reep Demetri Martin Vic Henley Tom Papa Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre Presents: "Air Conditioned Acid Trip" Paul Scheer Aziz Ansari Jackie Clarke Rob Huebel Owen Burke Chad Carter
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Well the we want more jam bands crowd will not be pleased by this .
If I didn't already know about Blackalicious and Lyrics Born, I would be doing cartwheels right now, as their addition completes the lineup for me.
Cypress Hill - um...ok (They're still around?). I'll stop by for some old school stoner nostalgia if there's nothing going on but I can't say they're at the top of my list
The Streets - Trying to get into this since their Pitchfork add. Didn't like it at first, then one song grabbed me. Verdict is still out for me.
The last three I am unfamiliar with, but a few impressions from a quick tour of websites (correct me if I'm wrong):
deadboy... - seems like more indie rock, I'll definitely check some out
Refugee Allstars - Damn! The song playing over the home page gives me goosebumps. Seems like a variation on the Buena Vista Social Club concept. Can't wait to check this out and think I will be trying to see this at Roo for sure. For the jam-fan centric crowd, go to this site to lick your wounds. Obviously not a "jam band" but they've got there definitely seems to be a "roots music" vibe
Electric Eel Shock - Japanese heaviness? Welcome to the mix. ;D
To be honest I'm a bit underwhelmed, but I've been trying to keep my expections low and am still floating in perfect bliss from the Quannum news.

cypress hill and the refugee allstars are the type of addition i like. when i read their names i got the same feeling i got when i read oysterhead was playing. some people i bet are anxious to desput why cypress hill shouldnt be at bonnaroo. but i know there are wayyyyy more people that are pleased with their addition
I used to love Cypress Hill and will definitely check them out. As for the other adds we didn't already know about, I think I might mosey on over to the comedy tent for some Patton Oswalt and Dmitry Martin, and I really dig the sound of Deadboy. Plus, I concur about Refugee Allstars, I will have to make a spot for them.

this is a very disappointing announcement for me. The only thing that sparks an interest is lewis black and patton oswalt. UCB would be good at the comedy tent but I suspect that it isnt the original UCB lineup at all because of the whole UCB presents thing. where is ween? vida? JMP? allmans or warren in any form? buckethead? anything?i must say that I havent been excited about any of the announcements since they announced Oysterhead. I am slowly losing hope for any more decent additions. WEAK

Definitely interesting, though slightly underwhelming. I'll admit that the addition of Blackalicious, deadboy, and The Refugee All Stars excites me, but the others I could do without.
However, the comedy tent looks like a definite must see for me this year. Lewis Black!
Needless to say, I'm awfully disappointed as well. I would have bought my ticket with the lineup as it is because of Medeski Martin & Wood and Oysterhead and some other bands, but I have to admit when I bought it I was expecting some pleasant surprises.

WOW, The comedy tent lineup looks amazing - Patton Oswalt and Demitri Martin are pure genious... Demetri's style of comedy is perfect for bonnaroo, very musical...(he's the new "young guy" on the Daily Show Correspondent staff)... and Patton might be the hottest comedian working right now. And Upright Citizen's Brigade doing a special skit written for Bonnaroo? No way I'm missin that.....
I guess I'm satisfied. The Streets is a cool addition (just try and stay positive), and Cypress Hill is a fun suprise. I take it that satisfies the hip-hop line-up very well. Round 5 better be a bunch of jam . . . And I agree, the Comedy Tent looks awesome. Demirti Martin's stand-up is hilarious, he's the best since Mitch Hedberg.

inky - There are at least 20-30 indie acts already. I'm probably in the minority, but I want some live electronics (not "jamtronica", I mean live electronic music). Sasha is as close to live as the lineup is now -- he quit spinning vinyl & uses a custom-made controller to mix. It's almost live, but not really.
P.S. - It will NOT be the UCB from the TV show. They have a whole acting troupe of other people that tour (including Paul Scheer & Rob Heubel).

P.S. - Did anyone catch Paul Scheer's stand-up during UCB in '04? Did the bit about his daughter being kidnapped. My and my friend were in like the 10th row, literally falling on the floor laughing. Didn't seem like many people got it, but it was the best comedy bit I'd ever seen.
