I'm sure I'm putting myself on the chopping block here BUT...
This has nothing to do race, image, genre or anything like that. This is based strictly on my musical taste here, but am I the only one who thinks this round completely blew? I have seen Cypress 4 times, they are incredible live, but come on.
I don't know how many people think "hip hop" when they think Bonnaroo, but I know I didn't. Diversity is one thing, but they gave us virtually NOTHING ELSE this round.
Here's to hoping they have a few surprises left up their sleeves...
i was surprised with round 4.....i don't think it sucked....im really lookin forward to cypress(never seen them) and blackalicous.....i don't really like dead boy or the streets though....i am definatly hoping for some kick ase surprises with round 5 though
music without melody does not measure up for me. modest mouse is an example of a melodic band with rhythmic sensibilities. this round was a bummer. hoping for some arcade flaming lips, built on fire to spill, at this homestead.
No it did suck, but I have learned to make the best of it and enjoy some of the bands. I'm a big advocate of having a lot of great bands playing at the same time. I would love to have to make those hard decisions, but I guess this round makes it a little easier for me. So, I'll just hope for better in the future.

completely agreed....i know many aren't but im pretty psyced for the hip-hop.
This round was great for what it was. I never look at "Additions" as fulfilling my wildest dreams, just a chance to see some awesome cool new acts to catch.
I am so glad I'll get a chance to see Electric Eel Shock...
as a first timer, i've got no precent, no frame of reference, but with each announcement, there have been at least a few acts i've gotten really excited. i figure i'm not gonna be able to see them all anyway, so i'm happy as a clam.
and let me tell you, this skinny white boy is damn hyped about the hip hop.
I'm looking forward to EES and The Streets, but other than that...meh.
I wouldn't say it "sucked" though. Like it has been said, it was good for what it is. There were a lot of calls for some more hip-hop and this round fleshed out the line-up with a handful of more alternative hip-hop acts and some other acts to keep it interesting. That doesn't bother me -- but I also think a lot of people jump at the chance to complain rather than just disregard a round of additions that may not be their bag.

You know, I hate to say it, but to be honest none of the additions have really tickled my fancy. Why can't they add really cool artists like last year when they added Herbie Handc*ck or The Black Crowes? Sure Bonnaroo 2006's initial lineup is good, but where's the cream filling?
I do think that a lot of the additions have sucked this year. But I'm sorry, Oysterhead is the Cream Filling. Disco Mcgee is also a little extra icing on the top of my Bonnaroo cake.

Dude I'm definitely dissapointed in the announcement but have you checked out the refugee all stars. Talk about an amazing story. They're all out of Sierra Leone and all of their music relates to the struggles they faced and their people still face. I'm really hoping these guys arent put up against another great act because I can't wait for the cultural musical experience I will have seeing these guys play.

I'm a little excited about Cypress just because it brings me back to my younger years when I used to listen to them and I have also never seen them before. But I do agree I am not all that interested. The only way I will see Cypress is if there is no significant conflict and none of the other new announcements besides refugee allstars are on my list of bands that I have interest in seeing. But hey what happened to everyone's excitement from the initial line-up and the first 2 artist additions. This festival might not have improved a great deal with the new additions but it hasnt gotten any worse.

to much hip rap hop...to much. I really can't get into any of this kinda stuff live. I was disappointed with that part of the additions. Electric Eel Shock sounds interesting...sometimes you need a heavy set. deadboy could be interesting. I'm still not sure about the album...the heavy songs are much better then the light songs. The addition gave me an excuse to give it another shot...I am still pretty pumped, I don't care if any more bands get added, I think I got a full schedule by now.

There really isnt all that much rap and hip-hop. I'm not sure what the count on bands is right now but the rap/hip-hop makes up less than 10% of the line-up. These additions also increase the chances of seeing all the shows you want to see with new schedule conflicts arising that don't conflict with the schedule of bands you/I want to see. And give the refugee all stars a chance, they arent exactly the most musically progressed band but there is a lot of meaning and power behind what they play.

If people dont understand exactly how much Oysterhead really is the "Cream filling" than im really terribly sorry, but you have much to learn tiny grasshoppa....
Yea, Blackalicious and LB were a given....we knew they were comin....But, im surprised to see crpyress...Dunno about the other guys, but, Refugee Allstars sound like some good roots reggae and im always down for good reggae..I just hope they dont do it like last year and put the only 2 reggae acts playing at the SAME TIME....Grrr that made me mad..

you could think of it this way though...if the hip/hop acts are possibly conflicting with bands that you like more....what if round 4 was filled with bands you liked...then you'd have to decided between stuff you like and stuff you like...instead of stuff you like and stuff you could pass on.
im normally the one saying that i dont like this step away from the jam but roo has always had hip hop and an increase in that category is much bette then alot of the other directions roo has moved...for me this is the best addition yet aside form oysterhead and umph/bisco... i have never attempted to get a bong into centeroo but i think i might have to this year for cypress hill if i bought a plastic bong and didnt smoke out of it so it was completly clean they should let me in with it i would think, its not illegal and its not glass.... i sincerely hope that they give out a 5 band jam addition like this one was the hip hop addition.. i would argue that jam is the only category that is lacking and seeing how it is what roo was all about im thinking that we have got some good news on the way...they have made some pretty big announcement s in the later rounds in the past...ive got my fingers crossed
if you arent that into hip hop check out some of it at roo.. the energy at the hip hop shows is incredible

I'm interested in checking out cypress hill and electric eel shock...
but for me the most excitement about the rd. 4 announcement is Patton Oswalt and Demitri Martin... they are seriously like 2 of my favorite comedians... i just hope they're not conflicting with my other must-sees
if i bought a plastic bong and didnt smoke out of it so it was completly clean they should let me in with it i would think, its not illegal and its not glass....
