I may be in the minority but I don't think Superfly's overall goal is to sell out all the tickets. Other than the first year they haven't sold out so I don't see it being a necessity to them. Especially with all these new festivals that have popped up since Bonnaroo started it isn't unlikely that an 80,000 person venue will not completely sell out.
I was under the impression that every bonnaroo sold out except for the last one (and I think we must concede that was due to the headliners). Superfly wants to sell all the tickets they can (how can it not be their goal to make money?), its not a necessity, but its nice. I thought Radiohead would have drawn a sell-out by now, but its hasn't. I also think that Superfly planned on having sold-out by now (based on the sick initial announcement), they wern't saving many artists for a late push in ticket sales, if the artists listed so far don't convince you, what will?

this roo is like a half breed between past roos and coachella... i am starting to doubt it will sell out... i dont think radiohead had the festival pull in the us that all of you radioheads think they do.... the us festival scene is built on jam bands and jam fans. they are the ones who support things year after year.
people keep on talking about pearl jam like it is something that is in the mix and they are trying to make it happen.... i havent heard anything about it outside of forum talk about schedule gaps and them doing festies again. i seriously doubt that pearljam will be at roo. and if they are it dosent really help roo out that much. just more mainstreamish stuff. even though i wouldnt mind seeing them.
i will never understand this years lineup....what a shift

Here, so I usually bitch about the announcements. This time, I'm not gonna do that. First, I really wasn't expecting much. I wasn't really expecting anything but more of the same, more hip hop acts or indie stuff that I'm not really into. I was expecting the Codetalkers because of the other thread, but they made me happy. And the other acts aren't just more of the same, they look and sound interesting, and most importantly, there was variety this round. I think the reason I so hasted last round was the acts were all rap/hip hop. Maybe if they'd stuck the Codetalkers or Brothers Past in there.
So, I actually liked the round, The jazz sounds amazing, the circus looks great. Too bad about Dresden Dolls late night, I was kind of looking forward to seeing them.
I do think there will be a last round with three bands, Bobby Bare, a jam band and if not Pearl Jam (which sorry guys, I hope they don't get added) or Flaming Lips then maybe another jam act such as the ABB.
And for the five millionth time-- Superfly has been openly courting Pearl Jam for two years and was very frank about trying to get them for Vegoose. The Pearl Jam thing did not just show up on this forum due to scheduling.
I am sure an intern for them does and occasionally somebody higher up might. But most artists and many producers don't bother because it's a resource dominated by a very talkative few.

My guess would be that they probably don't bother. This board was considerably smaller and less active until this year. I would imagine someone there has heard of it by now as links have been posted on official sites like the listserv, myspace and Krewe of Roo in the past, but I don't think there's much point in monitoring it for any reason. Several hundred people who frequent an internet message board are not necessarily representative of the Roo audience in general.
Round 7 - 5/13/05 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED Les Claypool performing with Gabby La La Kermit Ruffins & The Barbecue Swingers Keren Ann Dr. Dog Motion Potion
Round 6 - I don't have this email
May 6, 2005 email - 2004 DVD went on sale
Round 5 - 4/5/05 Bob Weir and RatDog Signal Path Heartless Bastards Josh Ritter (this email did not say that there would be more additions)
Round 4 - 3/24/05 Kings of Leon DJ Krush RJD2 Assembly of Dust
Holy crap, I had totally missed that Round 7 when I tried to collect this info previosly. Changes things considerably. I'm predicting 5/18 as the schedule release date.

I think you all whine entirely too much......This is a badass lineup and you just always expect more and more....You bitch and moan about who got added and then if someone you like did get added you bitch about lineup conflicts. Get over it!!! Not every band you want to see will be there and you still won't see all the bands you want. Just go and enjoy and stop complaining. Attittudes like the ones i see on this board are why people who are die hard Bonnaroo fans are becoming annoyed with newbs!!
THANK YOU! Oh and p.s. I think it would be a great recommendation for everyone on this board to take some time away from the computer and get a life. There is more out there than the Inforoo Message board. I think it is a great thing but you people are on it day after day talking about the same old sh*t, complaining about the same old sh*t. Roo is going to be nuts. The line-up is already great. ITS GOING TO BE ANOTHER FEW WEEKS BEFORE THE NEXT ANNOUNCEMENT. Give it a rest.

just worry about yourself and keep your recommendations to yourself...start a thread called your recommendations for everyone if ya wanna throw that crap around.... and quit whining about people whining its just silly

Codetalkers are sweet and zydeco is one of my favorites. Ive seen zydeco bands that i didnt even know there name that blew me away. Its the ultimate get down and party music .Im a jam band guy and happy as hell just to be able to get off work and be blessed by the presence of many a fine musician and thousands of people out for a good time. I gave away front row tickets to pearl jam to go to a beastie boys show didnt realize they were same day. Sat in nose bleeds and rocked my ass off.If they left it the way it is now I will add this to another amazing experience. If you can spend 4 days in june at a music festival life is good. Im ready for some sqeezebox and washboards cold beers and fine smoke.I hope you all join me.
The more I listen to Codetalkers, the more Superfly is impressing me. These guys are amazing me.
Why would I want to go see WSP, SCI, etc at Roo? I can see those bands on their own tours. We all know who they are. It is learning of a band you have never heard of and just feeling the groove while thinking, damn they are quite impressive.
I have even learned of bands that aren't even playing Roo this year, like Tea Leaf Green, thanks to all of you great peeps. Roo made that possible.

id say 90 percent or more of the acts at roo are touring all over the nation and/or world
and i would say that a string cheese show would be harder for me to get to then a radiohead show will be. they arent playing anyhere near me from what i can remember

i am ecstatic with this round. i have been disapointed with the hip hop additions and what now. but also upset they didnt say more announcements. only time will tell now... but just think of the amazing collabs there will be. oh lord. xavier rudd and ben harper have been my hopes, but whatever, this is a spectacular round, the jazz tent is my personal fave.

Ummm, you're complaining about people complaining which is more pointless than anything else... We all know roo is going to be nuts and we all know it will be awhile before an announcement... This board is here to discuss, and thats all we're doing...
So there were 7 rounds last year and not 6?? Also it looks like there were some pretty big announcements made late last year (Ratdog, Galactic, Herbie Hanthingy, Matisyahu)

Radiohead has had two US tours since 97. The closest Radiohead's been to where you live since then is Cleveland, Toronto, and Chicago. They haven't played Detroit since 96.
ya freeze im stoked bout the jazz tent too, i can see myself spending a lot of time chillin out in there. and that circus is gonna be some crazy shit too.
plus, though it was no suprise, we got the colonel people!

ya... an hour and a half aint too far to cleveland... i was n toledo then... and it sounds likely they will be back in chicago whihc is fairly close....closer then 10klf to see sci
I think one of the main things everyone is forgetting about is the great artist collaborations that roo does. They always put together some amazing, once-in-a-lifetime show that melts my mind.
Example: roo 05 Sunday closing WSP set included quest appearances by Bob Weir, Herbie Hancock, Robert Randolph, Luther and Cody Dickenson(from NMAS), and Col. Bruce Hampton. Tell me when where you'll see that again.
