On some off shoot sites of the Comatorium, they are claming that The Mars Volta played Eunuch tonite in New York. Don't know if its true, but thats what they are saying and the Coma is down.
Yeah, here's apparently the setlist from last night: goliath wax viscera eunuch ilyena ourbouros cyg aberinkula drunkship
I agree. Even though the setlist was the same as Asheville, they played over 2 hours and killed it. It hasn't been 4 hours and I want to see this band again. I love this band.

I saw them September 21st in Baltimore and the show was amazing. The only problem was it was short as hell... if I remember right, it was barely 1 1/2 hrs long. Everything they played was great, but I could see their setlist from where I was standing and was stoked that Drunkship was the last song... and they didn't even play it. They ended up cutting the show short by AT LEAST 2 songs, maybe 3. Overall, the show was fantastic... but the excitement and expectation to hear Drunhksip and then the dissappointment of not hearing it ... devastating. I hope to god they play a late night set at Roo this year so I can see a full 3hr set that they are known for. I wouldnt care if the Backstreet Boys, Kany West, and Brittany Spears were the 3 headliners... if The Volta is there with a late night set, I'll be there.
I feel like TMV have been kinda stale lately, I've seen them 3 times since the roo 05 show and none of those shows have even come close, they have actually declined in quality pretty much each show. Omar needs to do a solo tour a quintet tour.

I'm gonna agree with the above post. No show of theirs recently can even match the two shows I saw of theirs in 05'. One of those shows being proudly on the farm. I love the volta, I love them! but certain aspects about their performances (this including the constant cancellation of some shows) have definitely upset me a bit. But either way, I hope they are on the farm this year.
Also, there are apparently two more releases scheduled for early December release... very, very little info on these releases, but here's what there actually is:
I still need to see this band live. I'd love it to be a late-night set at the roo.
we at least need to get Omar's ass there in some capacity.
I think some people don't realize if The Mars Volta put on their A-game (which they do all the time) at a late-nite set, it would be one of the best shows at Bonnaroo ever.
Right now I'm just listening to the boot of last years NYE show I was at. It is always great to have something to listen to and take you back to that day. What a great show.
I'm under the influence that TMV don't always put up their a-game, and I think that's quite obvious... when they do, no doubt, no band can top them in a live environment, but when they don't, they can really evoke some disappointment from their fans... case in point, the Asheville and Mytle Beach shows I saw this year:
Totally different crowd receptions. Myrtle Beach was almost 3 hours, the crowd loved it, didn't hear one complaint. Asheville, they played just over an hour and a half, and I ran into allot of disappointed people.
I think the thing is that they're somewhat inconsistent live, but seldom bad. It's either quacking amazing or "well, that was great, but I don't think they put their all into it."
I associate that to the fact they have been on tour for almost an entire year and that the shorter shows are indicative to them being tired. It happens. Even though the shows were shorter, they did not go through the motions when I saw them last time for roughly 2 hours. I had friends tell me that the show was the best they had seen up til then.
A little update: The albums that were scheduled to be released in digital format on December 1st, are rescheduled to January 26, also a solo album with Zach Hill is scheduled to be released in 2009.
The newest album, Old Money, is really, really good. One of his best solo outings, and from me, that's saying a bit.
Also, I think The Mars Volta should totally play Bonnaroo this year.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
