^how do you feel about his solo stuff? imo its pretty weak. his voice is amazing, but he just doens't have strong songwrittign abilities. his solo song from singles rocked, and i LOVE soundgarden. i just don't really dig his solo stuff. just wondering what you think
Not as into it as Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog or Audioslave, but some of it is pretty good. "Can't Change Me" and "Mission", especially the remix for the MI:II soundtrack "Mission 2000" were pretty good tracks. The more rock version of "You Know My Name" isn't bad either. Haven't really heard much else off his new solo record.
But then, his voice is just so amazing! Even though 20+ years of hard R+R living and vocal chord surgery have taken it's toll, he still has IMHO one of the best voices in rock today when he is in good form. I mean, the man at his peak had a 4+ ocatave range! In full chest voice! His acoustic version of "Black Hole Sun" still gives me chills...it will be worth the price of the ticket just to hear that! And if he does "Outshined" and/or "Fell On Black Days" (my 2 fave Soundgarden songs) I will be able to die happy! ;D Well, no, I still have Bonnaroo to live for!!!! ;D

apparently my girlfreinds dad can get tickets to Gov't Mule playing at Mr. Smalls in PGH on the 17th or 18th of may. I would love that so if it is FLips vs Gov't Mule, at least I would have seen Mule aready.

Not going to too many other shows to save up for the Roo, but on May 19th, I'll be drinking some chilled Pabst and then heading in to see Mr. George Clinton and the P-Funk. This will be my 6th P-Funk show (always good, some very memorable), which I guess makes me a Funk Up (wait a second, are people calling a Funk Up or are calling me a Fu.... never mind) or a Funk Head
On June 30th, Unknown Hinson is coming to town and while this does occur after Bonnaroo, this is Unknown Hinson and his powers supercede things such as time, Pabst and gravity.
I do wonder if I'll be the only one in town who is at both shows.
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."

"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
im seeing sound tribe the 26th and 27th of this month in philly and i saw Galactic on the 2nd and 3rd of Febuary at Irving Plaza, thats bout it though. but after roo will prob be seeing keller and Ratdog at Central Park, and prob SCI when they come to nyc
You guys are lucky to see Claypool on the 13th. I wish he could of played the day before. I am seeing Rush on the 13th and leaving for Bonnaroo. While Rush is whole lot better trade off than Claypool, I do wish I could see Claypool live, especially at the Variety Playhouse(my fav venue in Atlanta).

Just got back from Damien Rice in Kansas City...and Wow! I was blown away! He sounds even better live than his studio stuff because he really changes his songs up and does different things with them. I got chills regularly throughout the whole concert.
He did a really good job without Lisa too. I mean, there were a few songs where he'd be singing and I would think to myself "This would sound amazing with Lisa though" (Volcano, Blowers Daughter, 9 crimes), but Damien held his own.
I got the setlist too, so I'll put it here.....this concert made my month! I was in awe the whole time! He even broke out his drunken rendition of 'cheers darlin' for the encore. Incredible.
Setlist: Rat within the grain (Damien solo) 9 crimes Volcano Coconut Skins Woman like a Man The Animals were gone Grey Room Me, My Yoke, and I (really jammed this song out, one of the best performances) Rootless Tree (piano version) Yoshimi battles the pink robots pt. 1 (Vyvienne Long solo on the piano) The Professor The Blower's Daughter I Remember (played this song for 20 + minutes, it rocked) Bang Bang, She shot me down (or something, off the kill bill soundtrack by Nancy Sinatra) Cannonball (unplugged, whole band played their instruments unplugged, could hear a pin drop)
Encore Accidental Babies Cheers Darlin (Damien chugged 4 glasses of wine during this song)
I had the time of my life. We're in for a treat come Bonnaroo.

I know! It's a really good setlist, I can only imagine what he'll do to it come Bonnaroo since he'll obviously have a longer set time. I was disappointed that he didn't play Blowers Daughter Pt. 2 (elephant) or Sand. But, I can't complain.
I can't believe he played cheers darlin, that made the concert for me. The whole song, he stumbled around the stage smoking a cigarette and pouding glasses of wine while singing. It was amazingly entertaining.

I'm going to see him next monday the 21st at Radio City! I'm so excited after reading how much fun you had. Hopefully it'll be as good if not better.
