ok, so i havent ever seen tool, but their like my favorite band and so i want to be pretty close for their set. ive been told that if you want relatively close seats then you should wait all day. if i watched the kings of leon at like 3 and waited all day and moved up when i get the chance, would i have a good close spot for tool? how close?
you would be set if you got there for KOL. for petty last year we got ther halfway through oysterhead and managed to be 25ft from stage...be prepared though becuase you cant leave
Yep, leaving a good spot is out of the question.... Last year we got such amazing spots for Beck and Radiohead... we just sat in place for, i dunno, half the day. Near the beginning of Damien, we moved over to the What Stage and found spots on the side of the stage, best place to be: screen and band is right there. I think What Stage is gonna get relatively filled for Roots, so getting there for KOL is probably a good idea.
What about if you get to the What Stage about halfway through the Roots? How good of a spot for Tool could I probably get? I really dont care for The Roots and would like to watch SOME of The Black Keys.
you gotta sacrifice or be a pushing a-hole. people will respect you more if you wait though...I am probably going to stay until too from KOL and I'm not even a tool fan really. so that should tell you something.

We spent about 10 hours at What Stage(saturday) last year but, we weren't trying to get too close. We were just fortunate enough to have a steady stream of great artists to watch.

Personally I've never felt the "need" to be close to the band at an outdoors venue. I'd much rather be comfortable and not an inch away from speakers bigger than my room

Even if you're really only at Roo for one or two bands, I can't stress enough how important it is to go check out the smaller, lesser known acts. If you go back and look at the schedules from years past, you'd be amazed at some of the "smaller" bands from then who are really making waves now.
I always think it's cool to have seen someone before they break.
no, even if it's your favorite band you should enjoy the festival as a whole, but to each his own...
I tend to agree with easymorningrebel. There is just so much you miss waiting for one show, I just couldn't do it. No spot is that bad a spot at Bonnaroo period.
I know there is a way to get up front for shows without waiting, or being a pushing A-Hole. You just have to have a story. Get creative, because people don't like a liar.
Remember, it's not a lie if YOU believe it. I BS with the best!
I will be up front for SCI, OCMS, Galactic, Tortoise, WMD's, and Ratdog fo sho'. Prolly a few others too.
You'll be good waiting if you get there for KOL. and a little scootin up will be available after KOL show as people will go check out other things and come back.
I waited from noon for Radiohead last year, and it was worth it. I felt like I experienced a great deal of the festival on Thursday and Friday, and waiting around the main stage with some cool people for 12 hours and getting to see Beck and some others was a good experience.
I probably wouldn't want to do it again due to the heat and immense need for water, but I'm glad I did it.

haha, your a short fellow aren't you? people have complained about me being tall (I can hear them behind me) sometimes even though I waited with the rest of the people. Like I can help it!!! I usually stand up a few times at least if everyone is sitting just so they know I am going to be 6'2'' in front of them.

i think the point is, you're so tall, you can see over people, why do you need to get so close? that is really annoying when you (as a short person) see really tall people in the front rows.

for tool, I would want to be a little farther back. The laser show that they put on is absolutley AMAZING, and if you are too close it is nowhere near as good. The screens with the visuals you will beable to see from pretty far back. So, to each his own, but for Tool hanging out middle/back is where I will be. I will probably just lay down at one point and watch the lasers.

The best way to do it is to get relatively close for the act before and begin your push up front as the set is ending. People will be leaving and you can get pretty close (I did last year for Radiohead, so Tool shouldn't be a problem)

See that is my point. do you not realize that if I get close enough you can see over me but if I am farther back I am just obstructing someone else. There are lots of people taller than me and why should I go the back just because I'm taller than you. Especially when I have been waiting with the rest. I would be glad to let some really short person stand in front....but telling everyone behind me that is shorter to move in front is extreme. I can't choose how tall I am just like you can't choose how short you are. I would say that if your that short and paranoid then you need to make sure you find a better spot than directly behind me and complain the whole time. sorry but just don't complain....please. I can't help it and want to experience everything a short person wants to experience too. But that being said. Tap me on the shoulder and kindly tell me to move or something (if possible of course) and I probably would. I just am not going to move back when I waited to get that spot.
nope...people would be sooo dehydrated....they say you can't bring a full camelbak but they don't really care...maybe the rare security person...if so...just go to another line.
In response to your query of my height, I am indeed only 5'8 and it is one of the few times it comes in handy!
hahaha, I bet....everyone would give me bad looks like I'm some kinda criminal if I did that...hell even talking about being up front and tall people get mad ahaha.
