1. The Black Keys - Am I the only one who was absolutely blown away by their performance? Holy crap, some of Dan's solo's were just mind-blowing. This was one of, if not, the best show I've ever seen. And they didn't even play 10 AM Automatic!
2. The White Stripes - My favorite band, waited all day for a good spot and was not disappointed. However, if they didn't rock as hard as they did for the encore I may have been a bit let down since, personally, I did not think their setlist was as good as it could have been.
3. Franz Ferdinand - No one has said much about these guys either, but they exceeded my expectations a great deal. Their lead singer's the man, looked like he was having such a great time.
4. Rodrigo y Gabriela - If I hadn't seen them after being awake for 40 straight hours they may have been ranked higher. Great interaction with the crowd and provided me a much needed second-wind on Thursday night.
5. The Decemberists - They reminded me a little bit of the Arcade Fire. Sweet band and overall just a fun time.
Honorable Mentions:
Kings of Leon (I felt pretty bad about their power going out, they were really in rhythm up until that point)
The Flaming Lips (missed the first quarter of their set, but heard every song I wanted to hear. I think I should've been high for this show, but whatever it was still great).
the flaming lips by far! --i'm IN LOVE w/ the police, but left early just to get a good spot for the lips... and i was not disappointed at all.
the white stripes--went to the which stage in the middle of wolfmother just so by the time the stripes hit the stage i had a good spot. good spot is an understatement.... i was up against the freakin fence thing.... and every one up there beat the shit out of me. it was well worth it!
This is sooo subjective and to see some amazing shows I obviously had top miss others but for me
1 - Rod y Gab (Easiuly Waaaaaaaay out in front) 2 - STS9 (Just because it so fits the Roo late night vibe) 3 - FLips - ('Nuff said) 4,5 - Too many to judge (Harper, Franti, Gogol, Butler Trio, Stripes, Police...)
Ones I missed but am sure should be listed - Mule, SuperJam, SCI, Galactica, WSP, Franz...
1. John Butler Trio It may have been a short set (barely an hour) but they put on the best show I saw the whole weekend. I'd been waiting awhile to see these guys live, and being out there in the heat and getting the sunburns was worth it. This was the closest to the What Stage I got all weekend (in the gated "pit" area), and the girlfriend (lemonade) and I danced during just about the whole show.
2. Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals Another group I've been wanting to see for quite some time now. The band seemed really tight and comfortable with each other, and Ben definitely gave all he had for this performance. The 'Dazed and Confused' reminded me why I love Led Zeppelin so much, and it was amazing to see a living member of that legendary band. Not to mention when JPJ left the stage, I turned to my girlfriend and said "Wouldn't it be awesome if Ziggy Marley came on the stage later and they played some of his dad's old songs?"
3. Gov't Mule We arrived to the crowded This Tent around 1a.m. while Lewis Black was up on the stage. Couldn't see much, but what I could hear was incredible. We left the show around 3 to head back to camp, and I could hear them playing "War Pigs" over the loud bass from whatever rave was still going on. Warren Haynes is the man.
4. Widespread Panic I've been listening to these guys more and more recently, and they were certainly worthy of the coveted closing spot for this year's festival. We got up about 30 feet away from the right-side screen and danced until we couldn't stand any more. And the glowsticks were incredible!
5. Regina Spektor Regina had such a unique stage presence. She was really cute up there playing her piano and singing, and when she messed up ("F--k! I could do this in my bedroom when I was alone!") the crowd just applauded as if to let her know that everything was cool. Too bad I couldn't hold my pee long enough to see the John Lennon cover at the end.
Honorable Mention: Damien Rice I'm a big Damien Rice fan, and he put on an awesome show. We got up really close for the 'encore'.
Paolo Nutini I had a lot of fun at this show, and the Jungle Book cover was awesome! I'd never heard of him before, but I am now a fan.
Not really in order or anything, most everything I saw was great but here are an assortment of highlights for me:
Tortoise - I am a HUGE fan of this band, this was the 3rd time I have seen them live and it was by far my favorite show of theirs. I took some really good video and I hope to sync it up with a nice audio bootleg so you guys can check it out too. Their instrumenation is just stunning, probably my favorite set of the weekend.
DJ Shadow - This was my second shadow experience this year (saw him some at Coachella) but man he blew me and so many others away. Great visuals and energy, I caught almost all of his set from either right upfront or out back top of the tent chilling. Honorable shout out to STS9 for bringing the heat as always, but seeing as this was my 12th time seeing them (seriously) I had to give my time to one of the best DJ's ever.
Ravi Coltrane/Jacky Terrasson Trio/David Murray Black Saint Quartet - When I scrolled through people's list I was a bit suprised to see no mention of any of the absolutely amazing Something Else tent shows. This was an amazing addition to Bonnaroo, and seeing these fabulous musicians (in air-conditioning no less) was easily a highlight of Bonnaroo for me. Anybody else catch these guys?
Flaming Lips -> Sasha - What a great Saturday assortment of late night shows, I was dissapointed I never got to check out the Galactic show, but the Flips and Sasha really made up for it. Although Wayne rambles a bit much and doesn't change his shtick enough (I've seen the FLips 4 times now and it's always basically the same show, minus the spaceship) it was such a fun atmosphere it was irrestible. Had to love those laser pointers too, anybody see my green one in the mix? I was getting down with it at Sasha and Digweed as well, who threw down so long and hard that I actually passed out outside of the tent for almost an hour, waking up to a freezing morning and them still bouncing the music. Amazing shows.
Tool and The Police - I didn't stay for Widespread (not really my thing) but I thought both of these headliners made a great impression at the Roo. There seems to be dissenting opinions on both these shows, but everyone I was with and who was around me seemed to be loving every second of it. It was my third Tool show (I am a big fan) but The Police were such a novelty and so special to me that I just lapped it up. Didn't leave early and still got a pretty good spot for the Lips as well.
Honorable mentions: Hot Chip rocked, Rod y Gab almost made the cut for just rocking out so hard in their own special way, easily my fave Thur night show (Mute Math second), El-P was a phenomanal lead in for DJ Shadow, and Ornette Coleman deserves special mention for being so fucking awesome and playing so hard in the heat he passed out.
Such a memorable weekend we will all never forget. peace ya'll.

Ornette Coleman, had his set not ended like it did, would definitely had made the top 3. Judging just on the 45 minutes or so that he played, he would have been at least #3 on my list. His set was absolutely mind-blowing.

Spot on. It was also my second time seeing Shadow and it was indeed intense. I watched the whole thing, and it was without a doubt one of the best sets of the weekend. He closed friday down with avengence. I was very happy to see him do his thing at Bonnaroo. I put him up there with any musician that plays any instrument. He knows exactly what he wants to do and executes it with precision. His skills are tremendous. I hope they have him back.
