Karma goes down twice in a day that I have not even posted.
Get smited right after i made a post yesterday.
Seriously, folks, grow some nads and tell me why you feel so urged to smite me... for the sake of reasoning.
Steve: Most of what you said summarizes what I feel is the basic attraction for the band, and I'm glad to see that you can understand my distaste. Karma.
We Need LIVE DRUM and BASS. I have been hearing some great stuff recently. DEAD PA,London Elektricity, and MURDER NATION. It would be a great change from the same old house, trance stuff.

Okay...I know it's not very 'Roo-ish' but....as far as drum and bass goes...PENDULUM would be crazy. Love them. But, seeing as they have never toured in the states, I don't think they would.
There's a first for everything though! Come on Superfly!

I see some musicians as more studio oriented vs. live show. Electronic music seems to have the hardest time bridging the gap between studio and live while keeping it interesting. I feel the majority of electronic music is studio oriented and when these people play shows there isn't much of a show, just a re hash and someone pushing buttons. I think this is the reason I am becoming fascinated with the bands who are incorporating software, synths, loops, etc. with live instruments to create a sound that is fleshed out and organic while still having the good qualities of a great electronic/dance show. I am interested in seeing anyone who is attempting to bridge this gap. Bands that come to mind are STS9, Particle, Telepath, Lotus, EOTO.....If you can think of other bands like this please post them up as I'm interested in finding new stuff.

^^^Ha ha, right on.
napydred, I get what you're saying, and I think I agree. I love electronic music, but it's rather difficult to get into it live (outside of a great beat or mix) for the simple reason that it's processed sound pumped through the system and not originating by a musician who you can watch play their instrument. At the same time, it seems like you're talking about something rather specific. The bands you listed are all ones who are using electronics to flesh out their rock/jamband sound. Meanwhile there are others (like Squarepusher) who are using live instruments to flesh out their electronic/dance sound. Just a thought-- it might be worth you checking out some stuff from that side of the gap, to see if you like it.

While he doesn't play an instrument, in the traditional sense of the word anyway, Richie Hawtin is a beast when it comes to drum machines and samplers. I've seen him take a crowd on a five hour journey starting with nothing but quirks and chirps and ending with some mind bending techno.
So yeah, Richie Hawtin would be a great and unexpected Roo addition.

true Squarepusher is great, been a fan for a while but never seen him live. I did see him on the Coachella dvd and it looked like he was bending some crazy knobs and pushin squares whilst drinking straight vodka
and to respond to steveternal, I think most good electronic musicians are probably using live instruments in their studio mixes somewhere, but how many bring these to their shows? but you are right, I need some fresh tunes from all sides of the gap so I'll check out anything suggested here.

Infected Mushroom does...they play live (at least when I saw them and in most pictures I've seen) with a guitarist and a drummer. It makes the set SO intense.

If I could only see one electronic act at Bonnaroo, it would have to be SHPONGLE, so I'm crossing my fingers for that one.
I would love to see Simon Posford in any way, shape, or form, but seeing him up there with that crazy old man Raja Ram would just be awesome.
My second vote would go for The Chemical Brothers. They put on a hell of a show, and I think they would really fit in with the late night Bonnaroo feel.
Other than that, I would love to see Pendulum or Hybrid do a show with their live bands, and Bassnectar is an amazing performer who would be great at Bonnaroo (I think that his presence is extremely likely given that he's been all over the southeast lately, was at The Echo Project, opened for Sound Tribe in Atlanta, and will be playing at Langerado as well). Fatboy Slim also throws the f**k down live and would be awesome. Let's hope for any of the great recommendations on this thread for Bonnaroo 2008. See you guys there!

Tiesto would be cool. Caught him at Voodoo. He spins behind a row of projection screens, adding a nice visual to which might have otherwise been a bland stage show. The music was rocking, although I didn't stay the whole set.
