Yeah that's definitely a satire story - it's just a play on the fact that UVa's basketball arena is called the John Paul Jones arena (after the Naval guy, not LZ bassist, of course).
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
IMO, if they are just thinking of doing a couple more shows, they won't be headlining.
Bonnaroo has probably had the headliners booked for months now. They more than likely had them booked before the December 10th Zep show.
I just don't think it's happening."
I agree I dont thinks possible to book a headliner weeks before their lineup comes out. I would imagine there is months of formalities ,contracts, and talks with lawyers/agents or whatever. From what i understand Zep went in January with no concrete plans to tour. I believe RP and AK to be a more accurate rumor. I hope i'm wrong but i'm just trying to be logical about it.
Zeppelin has had a tour mapped out for months, guaranteed. You need a year to plan ANY huge tour, let alone a Zeppelin tour. The powers that be, have known what's going on with Zep for quite some time.

guaranteed? I don't think so, my friend. I agree that it can take months/a year to set up a huge tour, and I do believe that will happen. But I also think that these are just the beginning stages.
Will you still think that when they play Roo? These things just don't happen.
lol, just like your "guarantee" that they have had the tour planned for months, I guarantee that they will not be playing bonnaroo. we will see. I'd love to see them as much as the next person, but it just isn't happening.
Like I said in an earlier post, If they are only discussing the possibility of more shows and/or a tour this month, they would not have had enough time to book bonnaroo. I think they will go on tour late 2008/ early 2009.
what are your sources saying they are playing roo this year?
Yes, they tell everything in interviews. They would have absolutely said "we are not touring" months ago if it were the case. I know enough that I am pretty positive that it is happening. Those "inaccurate " statements mean just what they say. Nothing. They will be there.
Okay, Zep may not headline... BUT don't you all think a Zep presence of some kind will happen?
I have said this before, I mean we have Plant already, right? JPJ is down I'm sure... If Page doesn't show, then there are MANY musicians at 'roo that could do a decent job filling those shoes...
Jason Bonham on drums? Maybe. If not, it won't bother me.
I guess what I am saying is last year JPJ set somewhat of a Zep theme. What in the hell do you think Plant will do? The same, but on a larger scale, right?
Just something to think about... We will see a form of Zep at 'roo, and either way, it will be amazing!
