The more I read the more excited I get. I agree that there will "the presence of the ZEP" no matter how you slice it....the stage is set..the jams will be played...and we will get to again see one or more of the legends that are.....I just say we all send hopeful happie hippie vibes that they all show up and play together (which personally i think they will)!! And i would dig seeing jason on drums just because it would "almost" complete the circle*sending hopeful happy hippie vibes* sigh
Ok, so they are going to hold a band meeting sometime this month( could be a couple weeks from now, possibly) to discuss possibly doing some more shows in the future. Sounds more and more like they aren't booked for anything as of now. Also, I would think Superfly books headliners several months in advance. They probably even had the headliners( at least) chosen before their first reunion show in London I would suspect. Do you think it's possible they would still get booked to headline the festival with only 2 or 3 weeks left before the lineup announcement? Just some food for thought.

lol that's exactly what ive been saying for the last couple of days.

Yeah, lol, seems like a pretty logical thought process. If they haven't even talked about doing more shows yet, they probabaly aren't going to play any out of the blue. I've always thought Superfly just did it as a publicity stunt to gain attention for the festival close to the lineup release time.
Yeah...I'm going to go ahead and say we don't know anything either way. Zeppelin's always been slippery with the press. Even if they already know what they're going to do, they're not the types to tell until it suits them best...
Let me just add, my experience is that when a prominent member of a band takes time out to do an interview in which he primarily addresses the band's future, it's a pretty good indication the band's getting back together. Usually rumors that go nowhere aren't given the courtesy of an interview.
My buddies keep comin by and sayin that the Led is playing at bonnaroo and saying that they heard it on the radio...i dont know why the radio would be saying that when nothing has been announced, and im sure they were told to stop reporting that soon after they did but just so everyone knows even the radio stations are reporting this rumor lol

Not for a band like Led Zep or even The Kinks. The Police rumors were still just rumors around this same time, and they got booked by Superfly for Bonnaroo.

I dont remember hearing rumors about the police really. but then again. I wasnt on this site as much. I just remember hearing about the rumors about Pearl Jam.
Tour rumors circulated around this time, nothing confirmed, yet they still ended up at Bonnaroo. I'm sure Superfly would quickly book LZ or The Kinks if they were touring, it's just up to the band whether the pay is right or not
Do you guys believe this "band meeting" in January is anything but a rouse? This "band meeting" will be a press conference.
The way it works is venues bid to get the band through live nation or whatever the other one is. The venues are all set and ready to go, then the band just says "ok." I have "heard" a contract was signed last week.

It's really not a bad idea, what he's doing - If the lineup comes out and Zeppelin's on it, he'll remind us about how he knew and he can brag about his insider knowledge. If the lineup comes out and Zeppelin's NOT on it, we'll all forget about who said what and move on to talking about the bands that are on the lineup.
I've been on other boards where people do that same thing - act like they're getting insider knowledge and just hoping, eventually, that they'll get one right.
I NEVER said a little bird told me. I simply know how the industry works (lighting companies, promotions, merchandise). I could care less what you think to be honest. I thought this place was about "vibes?" Yeah right. I won't remind anyone of anything, except how there are some snotty children around here.
^ don't get mad.... we are all about 'vibes'... except when it comes to line-up rumors... for that we need reliable sources, we tend to take this stuff kinda seriously
Don't take this as solid, but my best friend lives in Dunlap, Tn, about an hour away from Manchester. His buddy that lives in Dunlap has a brother that is one of the upper level guys in putting on Bonnaroo. I am not sure if he works for Superfly or what not, but I do know that he has a big input into putting Bonnaroo on. Anyway the guy that works with Bonnaroo told my best friend that he really isn't suppose to say anything, but Led Zeppelin is pretty much a sure thing. Take it for what it is worth, but just thought I would put in my two cents.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.

The fact that the band members are just now getting together to discuss if they want to tour or not. Why would someone agree to play a gig if in the end they only decide to not tour. This is based on the assumption that everything Zepp has said is true and the rumors are just that, rumors.

I don't think they aren't playing, but I'm very skeptical. If I had to be specific, I'd say I'm 80% sure they are not playing. And here's why.
Mainly, it's the fact that none of the band members have spoken to the press about tour in any way better than "lukewarm". They say they'll discuss it. They say it might be fun. But they also say it's not necessary, and it might be best to just leave the legend where it is. In addition, they have pretty much said they will be meeting this month to discuss it. As others have already pointed out, that leaves basically no time for them to get booked for Bonnaroo, and most likely a tour won't be organized or dates set for several months... so if they decide to tour, it'll probably be in 2009, when I could well see them headlining Bonnaroo. I do not think Jones, Page or anyone else would outright lie to the press and public and fans about no tour being planned when there actually is one. That would damage their reputation, and just generally piss people off. If they say they are still just considering it, I believe them. Same goes with Bonnaroo. Twice they've called the rumors "inaccurate". While there's good reason to read meanings into their wording, there's also good reason to just go with what they intended to say, which is that Led Zeppelin will not be at Bonnaroo 2008. I also don't see Zeppelin playng any shows, let alone tour, at the same time that Plant is touring with Alison Krauss. If they do it, they'll devote their whole energy to it. And finally, my personal opinion is that Zep may still be a bit over Bonnaroo's head-- it might be more than they can afford, and more than they can handle. They might not be considering Zep at all, you know.
So, I'm very skeptical, but by no means positive. And I would love to see them at Bonnaroo as much as anyone else here. I'm just trying to stay realistic.
