just to clear things up, i was being sarcastic about the korn comment. i guess i shouldve put a smiley face or something beside it to prove it, but oh well, im glad it roused some conversation. And chandler...whereabouts in wv are you? ..im in morgantown...
I love QOTSA (even though the new album is awful). They would be awesome for Bonnaroo. I think they were rumored last year.
awful really?! ??? I brushed it aside when it first came out, but holy hell has it grown on me. Most definitely one of my fav. albums of the last year.
edit: and seeing it live for sure adds to the appreciation.
i agree at first i thought their new album was bad but the more i listened the more i liked it. also i love NIN but i cant see them at roo

saw 'em in the fall for the first time, and damn ... one of the best shows of the year. they definitely brought life to the new album, and since that show, it's in regular rotation.

Nine Inch Nails in 2005 with QOTSA and Death From Above 1979, is still my favorite concert ever. And contrary to what many believe, there was no moshing or anything of the sort at the concert. Very impressive, and yes, very heady, and trippy, visually speaking.
i saw that show to and it rocked. the only reason that there wasn't any moshing at that show for me at least was because they had seats on the floor. however i saw nin 5 times with in a year of that show and every open floor show i saw them at there was some moshing because meatheads show up but i think roo would be an exception. however not to rain on anyone's parade about nin showing up it won't happen because trent said that he won't be playing the u.s. for a long time.
Damn, the Through the Fire and Flames video from Dragonforce always gets me pumped up! Herman Li is a guitar god. Their solos are unreal. I think they'd actually have a pretty good crowd at Roo, especially since that song is the final song on Guitar Hero 3...

There was moshing at the Electric Eel Shock show in 2006.
And mosh pits are only as organized as the people who participate. The one at Roo was pretty under control. Others are not. It probably helped that it was a Thursday set and people hadn't been partying for a couple days beforehand...

I am kinda against heavier bands at roo... last year I bailed after about 10 minutes of tool because I was afraid that some of their images would counter act my nightlife if you know what I mean.
BUT....no closing the idea out completely...maybe queens of the toned age or deftones
I gotta say Pelican, Mastadon, and/or Isis would make me very very happy. Especially Pelican. I haven't gotten to see them since the new album came out and im dying to see those songs live.
Seeing how superfly brought the bands Tool and Clutch to roo last year, it seems that they are more open to their being heavier bands at Roo. If any, which heavier bands do you think would be acceptable at Roo.
Here is a small list of bands that I think would work at Roo: NIN Deftones Queens of the Stone Age Burning Brides Fu Manchu Mike Patton in any form Coheed and Cambria Cursive Les Savy Fav ISIS Mastadon Against Me! Pelican
I like the idea of there being heavier bands at roo as long as they aren't overly aggressive (RATM, Metallica) or stale (pretty much any band overly influenced by nirvana). I personally think think sludge metal, heavier alt rock, and more punk-influenced indie are welcome additions to roo.
i would love to see NIN & Coheed... they have both varied their sound so greatly over the last few years that there will be a little something for everyone there... that being said, alot of people will be upset for killing the "jam scene"...

No thank you, I also left the tool show after 10-15 minutes. All that aggression scares me! RATM and those types of bands can bring in a very aggressive crowd...not speaking about those of you that are going to bonnaroo because it's bonnaroo...I'm talking about people that will come just to see those types of shows. If it must be done please not in the headlining or late night slots!

yeah i think that most mosh pits aren't nearly as violent as they used to be i remember going to see pantera and just watching pure violence ensue
I don't know what in the hell happened with Mastadon at Vegoose. I was excited to see them, but they were almost painful to watch. It seemed like it was their first show. They spent a couple minutes tuning after every song!
Even their front man apologized and said that "hopefully next time, they'd have their sh!t together!"

my list of *heavier* bands i'd love to see at roo
Om Sleep (yea right) Earth Melvins Boris Bongzilla Kyuss Neurosis (would be an insanly great fit ) Mouth of the Architech Sunn O))) Jesu Torche
thats a good start
Hell yeah! Stoner-sludge metal seems like such an obvious choice for Bonnaroo, I don't know why no one's ever thought of it.
I really wish Sleep was still together, so they could play Dopesmoker in it's entirety. The idea of a huge crowd of people zoning out to Sleep is just sick. "DROP OUT OF LIFE WITH BONG IN HAND"
Ahaha, mad karma to you sir, as well as to the person who said Against Me! would be a great fit. Their new material is loud and anthemic, and so it could fill the tent/stage very well, and get people pumped. Plus, their folk influences would be right as home as well. Look no further than their excellent version of "Wagon Wheel" by OCMS.
I love QOTSA (even though the new album is awful). They would be awesome for Bonnaroo. I think they were rumored last year.
i'm reading through this thread and i can't agree more with this post! QOTSA is a really sweet show... but Era Vulgaris is terrible... although i dig "3's & 7's"...
