Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I didn't go last year largely because of Tool (and money) and I won't go this year if Metallica is on the bill. I just have too many fears of what they will do to the crowd. It's not a good vibe. Not that everyone gets ideal neighbors at their campsite at Roo, but I wouldn't want to be next door to a group of drunken violent Metallica fans who would most likely drink at their campsite for most of the weekend except when Metallica is on stage. Radiohead (as much as I love them) brought a certain crowd and a lot of fence jumpers. I was afraid of what Tool would have brought and I'm afraid of what Metallica would bring.
It just doesn't make sense for Bonnaroo. Although, I must admit that I do feel somewhat regretful of skipping last year. However, at the time it made sense and I really didn't have the money.

No offense, as much as i love The Dead. They also bring a crowd of fence jumpers.
How would you feel if ..say... The Dead/Metallica both headlined?
I think its a bummer you feel this way. There are over 70 bands on the bill, every band is going to bring a "certain" type of crowd, some better than others, i dont know. I think most people have enjoyed Metallica at some point in their life. I dont want to see them at the Roo' either. I have paid to see them with Godsmack (55 dollars in fact, for terrible seats) And it was a HELL of a show. I dont think they will be there, so you wont have to worry. I think its safe to say we get Pearl Jam already. (see sig.)

Bonnaroo is not just a jam band festival, get used to it people, its a MUSIC FESTIVAL......Like they say, you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time....

Tool had people in absolute aww last year. I was skeptical at first when Phil Lesh reccomended Tool for Bonnaroo but after their set I was truly amazed at the type of energy they produced.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again... I could care less who the headliners are. Last year the headliners were a chance for me to clean up, grab some food and get some drink in my system to prepare for the late nights. I don't know if I'll ever understand people that decide not to come solely because of one headlining spot.
(I'm not calling anyone out in particular with this... Everyone has their own beliefs, and this is one of mine )

I'm just biased bc there was a phase where my cd's would be played in this order
Rust in peace - Megadeth Ride t he lightning random neil young rust in peace peace sells...but whos buying - megadeth metal church! master of puppets.. etc etc..
pretty much went on like that for 2 years. soph junior year... then like strum said st. anger came out..

The sad thing was that I JUST got into Metallica, didn't really know anything outside their most well known songs. So I went ahead and bought the St. Anger album......
....It's now somewhere in a pile of junk in my basement.
"I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fücking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here" -Radiohead

I should also mention that I also saw Metallica live on their St. Anger tour and they actually made the songs on that album sound GOOD!
Also, this show was in little ole' Roanoke, VA where nothing big ever happens. For this relatively insignificant stop on their tour they went ALL-FARKING-OUT on their special effects. They had legit cannons on stage for the intro to One and the whole show they were on circular stage with the crowd on all sides and for the entire show it slowly rotated so at one point everyone on the floor was more or less front row for the show. It was actually thoroughly entertaining!
IF Metallica comes, only people will be there will be like metal heads and speed freekz. We don't need them there. Plus there's nothin else to do durin headliners but stare around at nuthin. If Metallica comes centeroo will blow up. Superfly has let us down every year.
Metallica fans will ruin roo for me just like the Radeeohead fanz nd toool fans that stole my wallet, raped my girlfriend and ruined the energee

Yeah good call....I'm only going to Bonnaroo if Metallica plays. Then once I'm there Im just gunna get so hammered back at my campsite the whole four day period! who's with me?!
Seriously folks, when have you let one band ruin Bonnaroo?

I don't know man, the Yard Dogs Road Show really killed it for me last year........
Man, letting one band or one bands fans ruin it for you is fucking retarded.
Are you guys really so Bonnaroo-absorbed that you think that people who are JUST into Metallica are going to spend upwards of $250 for a ticket to spend 4 days in the hot sun just to see Metallica? Of course not. The only Metallica fans that will come (if Metallica is even actually on the lineup) are the fans that are complete music fans...and thats what, ideally, everyone there should be. Fans of music and not of JUST Jam Bands or JUST bluegrass or JUST say...the Dead, or JUST Pearl Jam. Believe it or not, some Metallica fans actually have open minds about music.

I don't think the issue is "Metallica will ruin Bonnaroo" - obviously this is not the case. Metallica will just get ignored at Bonnaroo, and things will continue otherwise as normal. The problem is that a headline spot is being used on Metallica, and while it won't ruin Bonnaroo, it would be considerably less fun.
How about "No Metallica at Bonnaroo UNLESS they play the Black Album the whole way through". That's about the only way I would sit through their whole set if they were to play Bonnaroo.

why would we want them to completely avoid their best music and simply sift through their most radio-friendly, least impressive songs?

In my opinion, that is their best album. I wouldn't want to sit through a set of songs I consider horrible just to hear a few song I like. I'm not a big Metallica fan and think almost all of their catalog sucks. That's the one album I like of theirs and would be the only way I'd sit through their set at Bonnaroo.
