I know what u guys mean! I am a HUGE DMB fan and i dont even spend the time in the lot anymore. I also moved up into the seats rather than the lawn!! Ive found that the drunk 16-17 year old kids are like i wanna go to dave for as cheap as possible. and most don't know more than 5 or 6 songs. i just think with bonnaroo u would weed out a vast majority of those a**holes who ruin every concert cause they are hammered and have complete disregaurd for others. Quick story:
I went to a Brett Dennen show in Nashville last year at this bar/venue called Exit/In. And i have never been more embarrased for my town then at that show. Brett had to call out people multiple times cause when he would play more quiet songs the drunk douche bags would start talkin really loud!! I have NEVER heard of the crowd chatter being so bad that a show had to stop and the artist calm everybody down. If u want to get a little buzz for a show hey thats cool i support u. But we must all be considerate of those around us!! Much Love to all!!
OK, I don't want Metallica at Roo by any means, but if they're there, I'll be in the crowd, making the best of it...enjoying whatever they play of the good pre-1990 output and trying to ignore the rest. I mean, I just kind of feel like a boycott is sort of an empty gesture...I mean, boycotting Roo would be one thing, but shelling out the dough for tix and then boycotting one headlining set? I don't think that will bother the folks at Superfly overmuch.
Karma.
It's been fifteen years since I would have gone out of my way to see Metallica (and yet I have seen them twice since then, now that I think of it - Lolla 96 and Woodstock 99). I'll check them out and probably end up catching up on a few zzz's before late night -- same as I have for every headliner since Radiohead.
In 04, Dave Matthews and his fans were going to ruin Bonnaroo. They didn't.
In 05 ... well, Dave Matthews Band and their friends were going to ruin Bonnaroo. They didn't.
In 06 everything was crunchy, unthreatening or hip so the world was fine.
Last year, Tool and their fans were going to ruin Bonnaroo. They also didn't.
I think that we can survive a band featuring a guy named Lars.
Here's the last thing I'll say on this, until I decide to say something else. After getting separated from my friends at a metallica show in 2000, they started into Turn the Page. I wind up next to an enormous guy in a Dale Earnhardt hat. Next thing I know, the two of us are singing along together. Here are two people who would never meet, from two different walks of life, enjoying music together. What's more Bonnaroo than that?
I saw Metallica in Louisville, KY during the St. Anger tour and really don't care to ever see them again. Don't get me wrong, the production was great with the collapsing stage and and pyro and everything but Hetfield could barely be heard and Kirk was completely drowned out by the bass and drums.

Dude, if Metallica headlines then ticket prices should go DOWN. The bigger the act the more the tickets cost.
Metallica is actually in the upper echelon of money makers. Not as big as The Police reunion, but outside of that, there probably isn't an act that AC/Superfly's booked for Roo that makes more money on tours.

I just hope it remains cheaper than Coachella. If they bring in a money-oriented radio-rock band like Metallica, it might end up alot closer than any of us would like.

I wonder if Coachella is strugglig to sell tickets at about $350 a pop (with camping) considering how poor the economy is getting. I hope they are, and I hope it effects their future prices & Bonnaroo's.
Maybe the promoters are hoping that people will use their "stimulus package" (could they have thought of a dirtier name for that?).
I don't think we get Metallica. I still think Mettallica is a "red herring" and the Superfly people are laughing their asses off at the controversy it is causing around here and elsewhere.

mothersky, I think we are all still debating on whether or not we are getting Metallica. I believe that we are just reading the clues wrong or overlooking something.
Again my karma went down. I just find it sad that some people are such wusses. Seriously, can we get something where we can find out who gives us karma and who smites us?
Whoever smites me without giving me a reason, I will continue to call you by what you are, A PU$SY
If you explain yourself, even if you just say "I think you are wrong", then I will give you karma for actually manning up.

There's been a million rumors about Metallica & one of the clues reinforced that. Many people, especially those who disagree with the greediness and the basic personality of the band, really dont like the possibility.
I hope they wont be there. I dont think theyre going to be there. But it is ok to talk about it anyway.
It's too bad that the one or two big Metallica fans here cant figure out how to express that opinion any other way than blind-smiting.
I'm a huge fan of the 80s stuff, like most others... If they were there I'd see them, but I really don't want them there...
If it's really such a strong possibility, and if this indeed does come to fruition, I'm sure that Superfly and Metallica worked something out so as to give Bonnaroo a very special Tallica show...
I hope, at least. If I hear I Disappear, St. Anger, of Frantic.... I may very well riot. Not really, but you catch my drift.

lol, even when they were touring for St. Anger, they only ever played two tracks from St. Anger at one show. Usually St. Anger and either Some King of Monster, Sweet Amber or Frantic. I don't think they've ever in a set played more than 3 tracks from it.

I do like Metallica, but mostly just the stuff off the Black Album. The guitar is amazing but if they came to 'Roo then I would just use those couple hours to wander around completely out of my mind without having to worry about missing or not remembering any shows.

Also, aside from the lawsuits and sub-par output over the past decade & a half, that theatrical/dvd release of their therapy sessions was incredibly hokey.
Hey, at least one Metallica fan is actually typing rather than smiting-from-hiding. I respect that. I even gave karma.
