i thought sleeping on it might help. but no. it still sux. im seriously considering going to nelson ledges that weekend instead. roo is the laughing stock of the festie community. in fact its been disowned. its become what i have feared it was becoming for years. a mainstream fest. all this talk about diversity is crazy. ill take the diversity of allgood or 10klf or langerado over roo's diversity since when does diversity mean bringing in radio bands that havent been relevant in 20 years or more. its all they have at roo anymore. its so sad. even if zepplin is added its just another reunion sh!t show for cash. (although it would have to be better then the police) bye bye roo. superfly is the devil. they did sell out and if you cant see that then your either really new to fests or in denial. you may prefer it since the sell out but they sold out huge. its disgusting.
i wish i would have had the foresight to call metallica, the police, pj, and tool back when i first started bitching about roos lineup but even i couldnt predict that it would fall so far so fast. and to have kanye west even at roo, let alone billed above phil lesh is just insane. but if i had tol yall that in 05 i probably would have been laughed off the board as completely insane. well now its here. fuk superfly and roo. its hard to say it. but i think im done with roo.

i can't believe jack johnson is headlining? over phil & friends and the always fantastic ABB?
no LED zep, but i think lez zeppelin will be fun- last year at superjam, i was practically suffocated by this jerk who would not stop crushing me with his big belly to get 1 ft. closer to john paul jones. sooooooo at least i'm safe from him.
i won't be seeing metallica but overall i'm happy with the lineup, and i'm waiting to see who they'll add in the coming months. how about some sts9? ...jamiroquai?
also i think alot of artists have come to the same conclusion and are avoiding roo like the plague. its a massive corporate profit machine and thats not what its all about.
id love now more then ever to sit down with les and play his interview in 02 about how great it was to have something like roo where it isnt about corporate sponsorship and ticket sales but about great music and great times. its all been diluted by greed. and im betting we will never see les or alot of other acts at roo ever again. i know if i was a great musician of the caliber roo used to have id be embarrassed to be on a lineup with metallica and kanye let alone billed under them. i think this is finally the year ticket sales plummet. and if not it will definitely be the year the new crowd completely takes over because i know no one outside of this board who is excited about roo. the people from 02-05 arent going anymore. there is just better lineups, less cost, and way less hassles at many other fests. and no metallica, tool, kanye, or other radio bands thousands of teenie bopper or 40 year old drunk fans to deal with. i sick of paying 200+ bucks to see shows that i wouldnt have gone and saw 20 years ago when they were hot let alone now.
LANGERADO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY 4 MORE WEEKS!!!! (and yes i realize that beastie boys and rem were hot 20 years ago and irrelevant know. i dont like those choices either. but its several large steps up from metallica and kanye thats for sure.)

well dude, i do agree with alot of what you are saying, i know for me - im not sure if im doing roo or not, and i knew that way before the lineup even came out, i was hoping the lineup would sway me sooo much that i ccouldnt say no, but now im torn...cuz there are other fests that are offering alot of the same/more bands that i want to see, roo will be without me this year - but i knew that all along -

i didn't do Camp Inforoo last year either, i got there kind of late and bands were starting to play... so i had to just get shit together and run for the gates!

Wow guys. Thanks for taking all of the fun out of coming to these boards. I'm pretty disgusted with the whole holier-than-thou thing that the line up (ANNOUNCED LESS THAN 24 HOURS AGO) has brought up. Maybe I'll get back on here tomorrow but it will only be out of habit. Hopefully I can hold that habit away until next week or even next month.
Last year, everyone was so helpful about what to expect and what to bring. 2007 was an amazing experience because of that, to me anyways. Now, do we really need 15 different threads with various people saying why they aren't going. And it's always the same reason. I said it before and now once again. If you aren't going, look to the words of Richard Pryor: "Have a coke and a smile, and shut the f#ck up."
I'm only 18 but why do I feel like I'm acting more mature than 50% of this community. I'm gonna have the time of my life in June. At least I won't have to accidentally run into people with their heads hung low, desperately searching for their fix for the "perfect festival". I was so positive just hours ago, just an hour ago. I hope you guys at least feel better about yourselves.

the reason you feel more mature is because your 18. and everyone knows 18 year olds have it all figured out. if you were a few years older and had been to some fests or early roos you would realize that there is a very good reason for the dissapointment and bitching. but they dont talk about all good or roo in 02 - 04 on the radio or mtv so i wouldnt expect youngsters to know much about all that. they have destroyed something beautiful. but until you get some experience and knowledge have a coke and a smile, and... well you know the rest.
and you must have missed the last 2 years lineup announcements. there is nothing new about people bitching about superflys lineup choices. but the helpful hints will return too.

you're right. just because someone is younger MUST mean they know nothing about music, or what a good festival should consist of.
so this festival doesn't sound great to you...i'm sorry you are disappointed...truly i am. but there are tons of other festivals you can seek out and go to instead of bashing the one so many of us are actually excited about.

^^I'm just saying, Kanye West, Metallica, Jack Johnson . I mean, that whole first line...if they just dropped them from the fest...I would be Okay with it. I love pearl Jam...but it sucks they finally headline when I wont be there. You want to talk about sketchy people, wooks??? Just look at this miserable lineup. im w/ dudewheresmyroo I mean, I had my own little countdown on my wall for bonnaroo. Lets just say thats been taken down already. burchalade tell me how Kanye West throws it down on the farm. Bonnaroo is about the vibes, and if you think the people on these boards are killing them, wait till you get to the roo this year. We are the faithful ones, espcially the people that have been going since day 1. Imagine how they feel.

I agree with you for the most part...but weren't you 12 or something during the 1st roo?
I'm in my mid-40s and a veteran of many festivals and I'm not laughing at 'Roo. I can appreciate that it hasn't turned out for some folks the way they wish it had, but I'm not going to take that as my license to tell them they are being stupid -- anymore than they should try to convince me that I'm foolish for attending. We each seek different experiences and I say live and let live. And be kind in the process.
well its ok for you to be excited about the NEW roo. but i feel it is just as ok for us to bitch about destroying what it was in the name of selling tickets to 30 something drunk meatheads and teenie boppers. why is one ok and not the other. especially when some of us have years and thousands of dollars involved with roo and others just have opinions. its a bonnaroo board. we are talking roo. granted its the death of roo but roo none the less.... where else should we talk about how we feel about to roo lineup besides the roo lineup thread on inforoo???

nothing has died, and i know i am neither a 30 something drunk meathead OR a teenie bopper. neither were my 9 other friends who came to Roo with me in 06.
if you hate the way Roo has changed since 04, why do you still frequent this board?

people who have been going for years and years i can understand roos traveled from what your acustomed to.....but there are those of us who have only been once or twice...some none at all....im goin....i will see every band i can possibly see....even metallica....it will be awesome i will enjoy myself with you all that will be there......stop negativity......u dont like it, you dont like it....dont bitch to us about it, we cant do anything about it......bonnaroo is not what bands make it......its what YOU make it.....and everyone sayin its gonna suck.....its only because YOURE making it suck. its obvious roos started changing over that pas couple years...well maybe next year its change will start to go another direction....i didnt really/ want metallica on the lineup, or pj for that matter but, i will still have a good time.....i just dont understand y some of you cant.....what wrong with goin for the good bands.....and US peace

So yeah, I shouldn't have brought up the age thing because that's just an obvious reason as to why I'm less qualified to talk about music or anything in general with other people. But this board should be a celebration. It should be people who are excited and people who have the same loves. This year is not a death rattle.
The death rattle either came in 2005-2006 when the line-up started to go more commercial and less jam-based. Or the rattle won't come for a while because artists (and I emphasize the word artists) are still coming to Tennessee and sharing their music.
The difference, dudewheresmyroo, is that hippieinaustin isn't spreading ill will.
We understand you aren't happy about the lineup and we respect that it is your right to feel that way. But none of us in this thread are resorting to being disrespectful -- meatheads and teeny boppers?

Honestly, I have to ask. What defines a good lineup to you? Because I'm used to dudewheresmyroo bitching about everything. That's what he does. Every year. Even though it's been pointed out the festival has ALWAYS had an extremely commercial element to it.
I look at this lineup and there is so much diversity. And I get this vibe from everyone who doesn't like it that their kind of music is not really represented when it very well quacking is.
That is to say, how much of the lineup are you familiar with? And how much of this is just you bitching about acts that are going to please you more than you know?
