just to make clear... it seems a lot of people on these boards have only been to the last two roos. the first three were COMPLETELY different than the last three. The vibe definitely began to change in 2006. there was so much magic in this festival in the initial beginnings and it seems it has gone by the wayside in order to attract the masses, not the kind of people that were there in the beginning. I agree that Bonnaroo is one of the best festivals in this world but there comes a time when it needs to examine itself as one for the people, not one for its own intentions. imagine the whole centeroo this year... the environentalists preaching to a bunch of metalheads (used loosely) who could care less.
just had to vent for a second, sorry guys.
I've been the past 5 years and appreciate that every year the smell of B.O. becomes less noticable.
Alright well I am starting to become one with the lineup now, even though we didn't like each other at first...But for now I'm gonna go "Across the Universe"...just bought it today
^no one wants to be haters and no one is whining... everyone has the right to give their own opinion on the board and i dont think anyone is being excessively negative. some people are disapointed, but no one is outright bashing bonnaroo.
i wasn't going to be able to make it this year anyway based on the dates, but having seen this lineup i'm not at all disappointed.
its not a bad lineup, but for what i've come to expect of bonnaroo and festivals in general this year falls pretty short. all the musical itches i need scratched are going to be much better taken care of by langerado.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

kind of a shock...but all in all I believe that there are more amazing shows on this list than Ill be able to see in one weekend! Seriously...even if you HATE metallica...its only 3 hours of the WHOLE WEEKEND!!!!!! not to mention that there will be lots of great stuff to do instead of seeing them.(like waiting for the MMJ late night) this will be my third in a row and I applaud the diversity!
I get the feeling that the people at Bonnaroo don't want to put the same festival on every year. They just try to find a wide variety of some of the best live acts out. Each year they try to book new bands and mix things up. I dont understand how kanye or metallica can ruin the festival. Who is going to pay $245 to ONLY see Metallica or Kanye. The people that will come to the festival will come because they enjoy a large number of the bands. There will not be hords of metal fans who want to slit there wrists and ruin the festival.

Really the only thing that would keep me from Bonnaroo was if Barry Manilow was headlining. Listen to the bands you like, don't listen to the bands you don't. If there isn't anything you want to hear, people watch. Always a good time!
I'm happy with the lineup. There are quite a few bands that I'm excited to see and some I'm not excited to see. But thats every year. And I'm really glad that Zach Galifianakis will be in the comedy tent. I saw him tonight with Will Ferrel, Nick Swardson, and Demetri Martin and he was easily the best of the night. And I'm glad Lewis Black isn't on the comedy list again.
I'm no hippy, but I hate this lineup... I liked Radiohead coming to Roo. I liked Tool, Flaming Lips, The Police, etc But seriously, this no longer looks like Roo. It looks like Brofest. You've got Pearl Jam, Kanye, Jack Johnson, OAR, just throw in Dave Matthews and John Mayer and you'll have the ultimate festival for bros.
As for me, there's a few bands I might like to see that I haven't seen yet - Battles, Sigur Ros and even Mastodon - but none of those I'm too excited about..
Now Buckethead, CAKE, The Flaming Lips, Zappa Plays Zappa and Keller Williams at Wakarusa - that sounds more like it! Sorry Bonnaroo... the last few years were good... *prepares for smite*

Bottom line is, Bonnaroo is the least amount of money to see the most bands I can closest to me.
Langerado, Coachella, ACL, 10KL, AllGood...they're all far away from me, and while they may be expensive, travel is pricey! Bonnaroo is the most bang for my buck. I love the vibe of Bonnaroo, don't get me wrong (it's one of the best things about the festival) but I'm there for the MUSIC and there are about 18 bands I want to see. That's convincing enough.
I like the line up but I am not personally thrilled with it... I think I need to let it sink in for a little and see the additions before I get my ticket I think I like Langerado and Wakarusa's line ups better tho... I can't go to rado so I might be headed out to Kansas this year instead
Hey guys, can you tell us about how good ole roo ain't what it used to be?
yes,
-more fake extracuricular activities (if you get my drift) -more drunk frat/college/bro guys and gals -people were all around a lot less friendly last year and this year doesnt seem like its gonna be any better -increased security at the gates
i could go on......but i wont. id have fun if i went, and the bands are killer, but its not worth the money (ticket, travel, ect.)- imo
