I think Against Me's set will be the most interesting. They can't play a set of hard punk songs, because moshing in the middle of the day in a tent makes no sense (or perhaps they'll be on the Which Stage...). But if they just run through their new album, I will officially give up on them.
I can only hope they'll do a lot of their acoustic songs. I would die happy.
I think they'll probably do more than just their new album, though I still think it's a pretty good album. Hopefully, they'll adapt their set for the Bonnaroo vibe, and throw in some folky acoustic jams. I think at the very least, we can expect to hear Wagon Wheel.
i think someone a few pages back asked about the VIP prices...

i dont know, i dont think i was ever really looking forward to the headliners as much as the other bands that i love. i mean, i never expected iron and wine to headline, but i am so ridiculously excited to see them. maybe i just had a completely different idea/approach to 'roo but i am absolutely out of my mind excited about the bands that have been announced. and at least we have a 'roo at all!
and as far as metallica goes...yeah, its not really what many of us wanted, but it will be an interesting mix of people...which occupies the time with people watching!
I think I'll wait until they've released the schedule and added which ever bands they add before I decide on attending for sure, but the Kanye/Metallica thing really just doesn't do it for me. If I decide not to go, I'll probably hit The Gathering of the Vibes, since it's close, and hope that Pearl Jam tours. The rest of the lineup certainly doesn't suck, but I'm not sure that it's enough for me and my boyfriend to lay out up to $245 per ticket, plus fees and travel expenses. (It cost us nearly $1000 in '05, and would be even more expensive this year.)
I love Bonnaroo, but going from my first on in 04, with Dave Matthews and Friends, The Dead and Trey headlining, to this is a bit of a shock. I could maybe grok Metallica, but that Kanye is the other "big" name completely harshes my 'Roo buzz.
i wish there weren't so many naysayers! this lineup is incredible. i can't believe i get to see metallica, iron & wine, sigur ros, mastodon, and my morning jacket all in my favorite place. i'm so excited i might explode.
At first glance, I was like, "This lineup is weak. I think I'm going to Langerado instead."
But then I sat down and looked at it, and realized there are about 18 acts I want to see (more than I can see in a weekend), and 15 even if I decide to miss all 3 headliners. This is stellar. All the acts I want to see are acts that are good and that I've heard of, so I will see you all on the farm. This is great!
some people just need a little time to warm up to the lineup...
when ur told over and over and over again led zeppelin and no metallica, u eventually start to believe it.....and when its not the case, people get standoffish and dissapointed because those things happened
give it a month or so, im sure we'll get some really good lineup, people will discover some new artists, and focus on the ones they already know....
i was depressed when i saw the lineup but after 2 hours...not so much

If you are a true music lover, then you have to love the lineup. What other festival can you see such diversity? From bluegrass to punk to hard rock to jamband to country. There is truly something for everyone. Anyone that does not like the lineup is much more close-minded than they may realize. Bonnaroo is a time for experiencing new things and stepping "out of the box". So, get over it. Bonnaroo 2008 is going to rock.
The first tickets will be priced at a special rate of $209.50 each. There is a limited allotment of tickets at this price. When the first allotment is sold out, ticket prices will increase without notice to $229.50 and then again without notice to $244.50.
All tickets are 4-day weekend passes, which include camping and parking (except for RVs, and other oversized vehicles, which will require an additional pass. See below).
Prices do not include service and shipping charges.
Service charges are $22.95 per ticket. This includes a $3 fee for Coffee County, $6 Facility Fee, and $1 for charity.
You will be offered two shipping options: UPS 2nd Day Air No Signature Required for $10.00 per order or UPS 2nd Day Air Signature Required for $12.00. Shipping costs for International Orders vary based on the country to which the order is being shipped.
added to roo.com
early tickets= 484.90 for a pair latest tix= 554.90 for a pair
i know, i was saying how i didnt really expect to be excited for headliners...i was more excited for bands like iron and wine to play in a non-headling spot.
Old and Crusty: Petty vs. Police vs. Metallica Police and Petty about a million times more suitable for the roo vibe, and lars is 8million% shittier in general at life than stu cope. Tom Petty takes the gold for "stage show you could confuse with an album"
Jam Artist: Phil & Friends vs. WSP vs. Jack Johnson(ish?) This section is sketchy cuz im still in denial over jack johnson headlining. I'm gonna be sick. Another headliner? Please?
Creative, Influential Rockers Radiohead vs. Tool vs. Pearl Jam Radiohead was a religious experience, Tool was awesome, and I can wait to see Pearl Jam. This is the only group that doesn't show a STEEP decline in quality this year as opposed to last 2.
what a buzzkill.... i mean i figured most of the rumors were wrong, but out of all of them to be true, we get metallica and jack johnson who isn't even worthy of a rumor in the first place.
soooo, um yeah i havn't responded to any threads since the lineup has been announced. Obviously I'm disapointed with the headliners, and I'm trying to get a hold on things... there are only 4 bands that were on my wishlist and only about 10 that im REALLY interested in seeing... i dunno guys.
the lineup doesnt dissapoint me. there are bands id love to see. its the vibe thats gonna suffer, and thats what makes me not wanna spend the money for roo. the vibe, imo, is the most important part. grrrr. expect a lot of fake drugs, and drunk college frat guys this year
just to make clear... it seems a lot of people on these boards have only been to the last two roos. the first three were COMPLETELY different than the last three. The vibe definitely began to change in 2006. there was so much magic in this festival in the initial beginnings and it seems it has gone by the wayside in order to attract the masses, not the kind of people that were there in the beginning. I agree that Bonnaroo is one of the best festivals in this world but there comes a time when it needs to examine itself as one for the people, not one for its own intentions. imagine the whole centeroo this year... the environentalists preaching to a bunch of metalheads (used loosely) who could care less.
Lineup is above and beyond amazing. Why so many are hating on Kanye and Metallica, I'll never know.
This is all about DIVERSITY. And trust me, we're getting that in loads. Who's to say who belongs on the farm and who doesn't? This will be Bonnaroo's best year.
As for the whiners, just stop already, we get it already.
