There seems to be alot of confusion about this, so I wanted to clear it up in its own thread:
Kanye West is preforming on THURSDAY NIGHT
I assume that he will be playing at WHAT STAGE or WHICH STAGE because there is no way he will be playing a tent...
I don't know if he will be playing during his own time slot like tradtional headliner sets - or if it will be in the evening or late night - I have no idea about the time or logistics - I just know he is preforming or Thursday - and tens of thousands of people will want to see him play.
I was supprised to find this out - considering that less than half, maybe a third of 'Rooers arrive before Friday - but I think its a nice way to spread out the hype - and this way Kanye won't conflict with any other acts during the "meat" of the weekend.

Are you 100% positive that the people in charge of his website didn't just put down the first day of the festival as the date of his performance? Seems possible to me...

I do hope you are right.. But for now I just can't see it going down that way. Every year I always hope for a full day of music with a headliner. If Kanye was to play Thursday It would make more sense. I agree. But this was also said of the White Stripes last year. Kanye is gonna close out the which stage on sunday. I do hope you are right. I just got this feeling.
Where are you getting your info from? I am willing to bet he has a late night on which stage either friday or sat! he is most likely doing his glow in the dark tour thingy since that the only way I can fathom Bonnarooo scooping him up for the line up. the light show looks pretty cool though check it out on youtube
^im pretty sure the only info he has is what's posted on kanye's site. But A LOT of bands list thursday because that's when the festival starts... so who knows really. it's possible, but i wouldnt say it is definate just because thurs is listed on the site.
I can GUARANTEE you that there will be no thursday night headliner, b/c of tradition, and b/c the What Stage is closed down for thursday night so they can throw the VIP-only party at the very back of the main stage.
sorry, Kanye isn't a headliner, and he isn't playing on thursday.

Well.. kanye is NOT headlining thursday.. as the what and which stages are closed on thursday.. tents only. Kanye will be a late night which stage. Probably friday night.

Yea, there's no way they do a Thursday headliner, I've said it before . . . many people are not parked by Thursday evening. The only way this is possible is if they open up the gates Wednesday afternoon.

Eh...when Langerado ran with Claypool on Thursday night this year, I think it changed things. I think we could very well see a major act on Thursday night.
Tea Leaf Green was my headliner last year on Thursday night. I enjoy Thursday night shows because it gives me an opportunity to see bands that I usually wouldn't pick to see over other bands.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.
furthermore, show me 1 act that has been listed as high as Kanye and has played on a thursday. there isn't one.
last year, it was proven that the first few lines of acts are what stage/which stage/late night and the very bottom of the list is thursday bands.
well kind of... thursday night bands were LOWER on the list... but not at the very bottom, like Clutch is about halfway down.... then rod/gab, the little ones, etc were closer to the bottom...
i have to say, thursday was my 2nd favorite day last year... Ryan Shaw while setting up camp... Mute Math, Rod/Gab were all amazing...
Thursday night, everyone and i mean everyone is walking around Centeroo and the grounds with a gigantic smile of accomplishment and a "this is gonna be good" grin...

papernapkin you're the second other person i've seen on here from charlotte. karma.
also, i agree that they should at least open the which stage for late night thursday. There are several deserving acts of a late night which stage so i think an extra night of it is kind of needed. It will also create less majopr conflicts with all of the great late night acts on friday and saturday and people wont miss as many. (like last year sci, sts9 and superjam all at the same time)
As of this morning here's what is listed thus far...hmmm Jack Johnson on Sunday.
ok, i don't want to sound like an asshole, but if you would read the board a little bit more (unofficial schedule thread), you'd see that Thursday acts do not necessarily always play on thursday. This board has fleshed the daily lineup out yearly, on a consistent basis, and the one thing we've seen is that, routinely, big acts once listed on thursday on POLLSTAR, later get moved to FRI/SAT/SUN.
Pollstar is not a definitive source. Some bands just list the first date of the fest as their "tour date" when they first get announced to play Bonnaroo, only to change it later.
