Well - I figure I am getting smited every hour on the hour anyway so my opinion could not make it any worse - I like Kid Rock - own all of his stuff and have been to a couple of shows.
I don't want him at Bonnaroo but I do like him and would go to another show - he puts on a good show, plays an array of instruments and can rock a venue.

i'm with meg...smite me if you must. i just don't understand how metallica HEADLINING wouldn't cause y'all not to come, but kid rock just playing a SET would? that's just quacking ridiculous, IMO.
btw, he has a song called "last stand in open country" that is a duet with willie nelson...i really like it, and wouldn't be a bit disappointed if i saw them jam it together at Roo.
i think taking kid rock seriously is where a lot of people go wrong. HE doesn't even take himself seriously.
well, the thing about metallica is at least they are good musicians that did something fresh and respectable. I dont like metallica or more than half the bands on the line, but all im saying is its understandable for them to be at bonnaroo I just think Kid Rock would be crossing the line

i'm sorry, but i just can't agree...at all. i could see kid rock at Roo LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before metallica. he covers many genres that will be at bonnaroo, whereas metallica is just kind of the red-headed stepchild this year.
now, i realize metallica is a great band to some, and that its all an opinion. but i think its absolutely quacking ridiculous to say kid rock would keep someone from going to Roo, but metallica wouldn't.

I agree that not going to Bonnaroo because a lame band is playing is, well, lame.
But there is absolutely no comparison between Metallica and Kid Rock. Not a fan of Metallica really and will probably not see their set, but Kid Rock?! Give me a break. He covers many genres the way a middle schooler in a marching band can cover different genres. Kid rock has zero talent, zero musicianship, zero taste and a lame schtick. He is the EPITOME of what is wrong with pop music these days.

I went to a Kid Rock show two weeks ago with some friends who are fans. I have never been a fan...but now I know I would go see him again. He put on a great show. Kid Rock played for 3 hours with only a 15 minute intermission. There were no strippers, just back up singers. When Rev came out it was awesome. He was very diverse. Also, it was very positive in a kind of cheesy way. Heh...there were also preachers outside the venue telling us we were going to burn in hell. Anti-abortion and all that. I guess the "Rock n Roll Jesus" thing kind of pissed them off. Sure his persona and personal life has been a joke but a lot of people we love have problems too. I personally would be shocked if he came to the Roo but it would not keep me from coming. There is enough to go around for EVERYONE.

i guess i just don't understand how someone like kid rock could garner so much hate. he's not even that prevalent these days. he would never have crossed my mind as a musician that could or couldn't be Roo worth had someone not brought his name up.

I said Kid Rock could... but the thing is there... is well... I like Metallica... I don't like Kid Rock, at f'n all... and there's my case. Not so ridiculous as you think.

im gonna keep out of this for the most part.
but i will say this. 1. i dont want him at roo. i also dont want metallica at roo. so there you go. but i wont be there this year so i spose it doesnt matter.
2. kid rock can actually sing. im not saying im a omg huge fan, but i am saying he can sing.
I really doubt its a gimmick, Im pretty sure he is just uneducated and arrogant. I mean, when u got a bunch of dipshits hanging around you all day telling you that you rock and your a superstar and that your music is oh so wonderful its bound to go to one's head
edit: I would also just like to note that ripping on kid rockis quite amusing and a good way to break up your work day

i don't doubt its a gimmick at all. he really doesn't take himself as seriously as some may like to think.
i also agree with becca...i think he can sing. i don't think its blow your mind kind of vocals, but i can think of 10 other artists who have worse voices and are making as much money. and if we're talking arrogance, let me be the first to throw out kanye's name, and he'll be at roo, too.
and just a side note, i'm really taken aback at the hardcore kid rock hate. i mean, i really didn't think he left such a HUGE impression on people.
