Moe.down was my first festival three years ago. It was AWESOME! It's pretty small, at least when I was there. Only a few thousand people. Awesome venue, consistently an awesome lineup, overall just an awesome time. I'm defiantely hoping to make it there this summer.
I'm so excited, Umphrey's Mcgee will be there and I've been falling in love with them lately. I think my second music festival will be a very interesting/different experience than Roo since there will be a lot less people and I'll be in an RV.
Have you been going every year since your first moe.down bohemian?

Nope, haven't been since I sort of alway sforget about it, since its at the end of the summer each year. I think part of the reason its small is most people are out of money by then. But its definately a great way to end the summer. It'll certainly be way different than 'Roo, for both the reasons you said. Different, but still just as fun! I'm waiting till they announce a few more bands before i buy tickets. Umphrey's plays there every year, and i'm pumped to see Toubab Krewe again (THEY WERE SO GOOD!) but i'm expecting a few very cool bands. moe. hand picks the bands, so there's usually a very random assortment of people there. They Might Be Giants played when I went, which was awesome
I haven't heard Toubab Krewe, and from what I've heard and read on here I'm missing out on something big. Unfortunately I don't have a computer at home and I can't download anything at work so I'm at a disadvantage. I'm sure I could find streaming music somewhere though. Who do they sound like?

They are very unique sounding. It's sort of based off an african-tribal sound. Heavy on the percussions and such. They put on a great show too. I had never heard of them till 'Roo, then fell in love. You can stream their roo set from here www.archive.org/details/toubab2006-06-15.flac. One of the coolest parts about moe.down is that its on a ski hill, and the main stage is right on the bottom of the hill, so being away from the stage is actually really cool because you are higher up on the hill. It allows everyone to see the show! All this talk about it...now i definately have to go.
Thanks for the link! I'll definitely listen to it today I saw my boyfriend's pictures from last year, it looked like an awesome location to have the show. In March we went to snoe.down and they played outside at the bottom on a ski hill and it was cool. Freezing, but fun.
You should go! I haven't bought tickets just yet, but we're going. Prices don't go up again until Augest 12th.

Yeaaaaaah i think i'm gonna go. If i was a skiier/snowboarder, i would've been at snoe.down in a heartbeat. Such a cool idea. I heard they had like massive heaters and stuff for the audience? And moe. played in complete snow gear and stuff? Sounded like a blast
If they had massive heaters, I didn't see or feel them. But it was fun anyways, outside in winter clothes with a COLD beer. From what I remember moe. were in snow gear as well. After their set Tea Leaf Green played inside at the base of the mountain but the building literally couldn't hold all the people so we missed them. I was disappointed because I really wanted to see then. moe. also played twice more at the Olympic Center which was pretty cool. That was the first time I saw Soulive, they were pretty awesome.
I'm actually kind of interested in attending moe.down, and it's small enough that I would consider bringing the entire family. I emailed the band when they made the initial announcement, trying to find out what their admission policy was (everyone needs a ticket vs. little ones get in free), and never got a response...
I'll be there this year. It's only 2 hours from me but I could never go in the past because of money and school issues. Umphrey's doesn't play there every year though. Thats one of the things making me get there this year, I can't miss Umphrey's when they are that close to home. 6 sets of moe. isn't too shabby either. If you mountain bike then bring it with you cuz they have the ski lifts open so you can bike on the mountiain.

toubab krewe is amazing!!! one of the reasons why i really want to go to moe.down this year
Page has been practically hiding in a cave since Phish's last show. I think he's played at 3 shows since then, most of them being in Vermont. It's gonna be great to see him playing again.
I never made it to any Phish shows either but I've seen all them perform separately and various combinations of a couple of them together. Should be an awesome weekend.
I'm also excited about Umphrey's, I didn't catch their whole show at Roo and I'm really disappointed. I've been listening to their set since and love it. I'm still kicking myself for not staying!
It was my favorite too! I just didn't get to see the whole thing. My friend's not a big jam band fan and she was with me and exhausted too, and I could tell she was anxiously waiting to get back to the tent..
Nope, it was my first time. I knew I liked them because I've heard them on Sirius. And I'll be seeing them again at moe.down so I'm really looking forward to that.

Yes. Definately see them whenever you get a chance! They consistantly put on an awesome show. They also are touring all the time, so watch for them to come through jersey!
