Sweet! My nephew got one as welland was the first person in my town to purchase one. He sat in line with a couple other friends for 14 hours. I am hoping tp finally play it tomorrow since I have been either on the go or working.
BTW...what games did ya get for it?I am hoping to get Marvel Alliance for it... I have seen comericals of ppl playing that game and looks really fun.
My newphew has Red Steel as well. He said he created a character that looks exactly like me (scary thought) on the Mii channel . Maybe I will take some pics and post them either tonight or tomorrow.
So, I just played some Wii today and it takes some time to get used to. Red Steel is decent, but it is hard to control. The sports game that comes with the system is kinda fun. When you get a chance try the boxing. I go so into it that I was taunting my opponient on the screen. Good fun!

Yeah wii have played all of the "WiiSports" games. I like the boxing too, but I think I like tennis and bowling the best.
Joel and I played a game of Madden last night and it was great! I have never been any good at any of the football games for consoles over the years, but this is totally different.
I believe this console is going to revolutionize the way video games are played!
I don't know anyone who has one yet. I is just way too much money for a game system if you ask me..on top of that you need to have a HD TV or it is a waste. Drop it down a couple hundred and then we will talk ;-)
Yeah the PS3 is pretty steep, but if you look at it simply as a HD dvd player it's quite cheap. There's alot of potential with that blue ray disc technology. I definately won't be getting one anytime soon, but I will get one next year. It's quite an impressive all-around piece of equipment. I just wish the Wii played dvd's and other media, that's my only complaint with it.
I'm so doubtful of the PS3's ability to play blueray discs. I got a PS2 early in the game (ha ha, pun) partially because of the DVD capabilities. But it was a terrible DVD player. You had to spend extra money on the remote if you wanted that and it refused to play some DVDs. I ended up buying a DVD player anyway. Then the PS2 slowly broke down and finally died. I had some good times playing FFX and Devil May Cry, but beyond that it was pretty useless to me. My Gamecube is still running strong.
If I get a new system, it will be a Wii. I'm sure the new zelda takes every advantage of the new controls. They always have in the past. I really like the fact that Nintendo is including everything you need, both controllers, the stand and even a game and not gouging people for accessories. Go Nintendo!

I've had my second shipment ps2, and its never broken, or had problems playing any dvd. If the ps3 wasnt able to play blueray discs, it wouldnt work at all, because all the games are blueray. I also hear the ps3 runs blueray dvd's much easier and quiet than the ps2 did. The wii is definatly a cool platform, but it just doesnt have the longevity of the other next gen platforms. Would i refuse one? Definatly not, but since the ps3 is 600$ i wont be buying one either.

Zigg,
I am confused by this statement. What do you mean, the wii doesn't have the longevity of the other next gen consoles???
How could know what kind of longevity the wii will have?
It is brand new and it's durability has not had time to be tested. The games that are out now are release titles, I am sure there will be hundreds more over the years.
I may be reading it wrong adn that is not your intention, but I just can't understand that statement??????
How can you say, now, with the wii only being out less that 2 weeks, that it doesn't have the longevity of the other next gen consoles??
I think what he means is that it plays, pretty much, every form of media out there, including the brand new blue-ray discs, so you'll be using top-of-the-line gaming technology for many many years to come. Where as the Wii is something we've seen before, graphic wise. The big new thing with the Wii is the controller. But the PS3 also has the same type of movement based controlling system with theirs. It is the best system out there it's just way too expensive and impossible to find right now. There's soooo much potential with those blue-ray discs to make bigger and better games for years to come. I still want a Wii though
I want to get a wii in the next few months. I think Wii will have the staying power because right now it has just as much 3rd party support as PS3 and Xbox360, if not more. Developers are really excited to make games for the Wii's hardware. PS3 looks cool but I'd never even consider it for the price. All I want my system to do is play games, not a whole bunch of extra stuff you end up paying for. I really like my PS2 but honestly have little faith in the durability of anyting SONY makes. Everyone I know who has a 1st generation PS2 has had so many problems with them, me included. Never had a problem with anything Nintendo made.

This is exactly what i mean, i wasnt refering to the durability, but the technological longevity. I believe sony said they were gonna make the ps3 last for 8 years, and still be current, which is understandable as the surface hasnt even been scratched gamewise for it. I just meant that the wii will be due for an update long before the other nextgen platforms, it doesnt even support hd. This is alright though due to the price.
The dvd and blu ray capabilities are not what drives me to a gaming system. I have several dvd players and am not really $$$ ready to tackle the blu-ray stuff, yet anyway!
I have never been much of a sony fan. We owned the OG PS, but I never got a PS2. We went for the xbox when the first next gens were coming out and have always been xbox loyal. We have two right now.
I am sure I will not get a PS3, but I do plan on picking up a 360 in time for Halo 3!!

You are lucky if you've never had problems with your ps2. I know many people who have.
Perhaps it is a fine blu ray player, but I have my doubts. That's not what I'm after in a game system anyway. I don't have a high def TV and don't plan on buying one for a long time, so the lack of high-def technology on the wii doesn't bother me.
I think there's plenty of opportunity for longevity in the wii. I think most people who are buying them are not as interested in updated graphics, those folks will be buying xbox 360s and ps3's... the people buying wiis (wow that looks weird typed out, what is the plural of wii... wiis? wice? wiies? or does it not change, like deer? ) are looking for fun over detailed graphics. And the new controls leave lots of room for new games to be creative.

i'm not much of a videogamer, i like madden on xbox, but thats about it.
i've played the wii at the local gamestop, and honestly the controller pissed me off after about 2 minutes of zelda. i just couldn't get the sword to hit the people.

So Joel (teine) and I went to Wal-mart Saturday and sat in line for hours and got two of only 20 Nintendo Wii's that went on sale at midnight.
Here is the entire group (See the girl in the green sweater sitting on the right closest, she didn't get one!
Here's Joel in a heated game of Madden 06 on PSP
And yes that thing is fun. It will wear you out though, it is the most "physical" video game I have ever played!
Hey I know this is an old thread, but I finally got a Wii as a Xmas present for my fiance. And yes it is LOTS of fun!! Can we get your Wii code so we can have more Miis running around? Anyone else here have one so we can get theirs also?
Our Wii code is 4875 1756 4952 1527.

When I get home I'll post my Wii code- I totally missed this thread, but I've had my Wii since launch day (thank you Gamestop pre-order).
The Wii will be around for a long time. Just as the DS beat the snot out of the PSP, the Wii has far more hooks and attractions, to a broader audience, than the other options. That doesn't mean it will always be market leader, but it will be around for a long, long time. When EA and Disney set up whole shops for development for the Wii, you know it has longevity.
Plus, for the first time in 30 years my parents played a videogame with me! We had both sets of my daughter's grandparents playing Wii at Christmas, and then turned around and played 4-player Marvel Alliance with hardcore gamer friends at New Years...

EA are going to develop games for the Wii? This has gotten me excited now. I love sport games and just the thought of being able to swinging the bat as Albert Pujols makes me very happy ;D
