No cause there was no one there. Michael would have been there or at least someone else. Had to be Ben, cause everyone hates him now. Only he seems to have been right about that stupid Naomi b!tch. Glad Locke threw a knife in her back.

I don't think Ben made it off the island.....actually I thought Lockes funeral but a friend of mine had a good argument for Walt....wish I could remember what it was!
One of the arguments for Walt is that the funeral home appears to be in a predominantly African-American neighborhood. That being said, I believe the funeral is for a character we haven't met yet.

Don't think its walt, i'd say Ben. I bet he does something heroic in future episodes after being de-throned by the almighty locke! I must apologize for my doubts of Jack's manhood, he is now offically a bad ass, a whining bitchy lil badass but a badass nonetheless. I was so glad to see how everyone was thinking, "Fu%@ this! I just don't care anymore" and gave a mighty wollop unto the others. Hurley has perfect timing, how exciting. Snuffed out most of the hardcore others, right on. Mikhail is a nuisance, how does he die? is he a high lander?
my guess: Naomi works for a new faction of the Hanso corp (or original Dharma who have lost placement of island due to ben) and are trying to use the island for evil purposes. A small group of main characters will head back with Jack and the island will be amidst a new war between the newbies and locke's force of silent badasses. and then aliens will come down, santa and bruce willis will cameo and it all ends with a dharma training video filling in holes. ..... edit: .......and hurley is still fat.

I say it was Sawyer's funeral. He has no friends or family, so that explains the empty seats. He and Kate must have split on bad terms. The 'he' that Kate is referring to in the flash-forward is (pure conjecture here) their kid, conceived on the island.
Just now (!) finished watching the episode on my DVR........I was able to get through the day without anyone dropping any "spoilers" at the water cooler. Good thing I avoided this thread today, as well!

Odds are the funeral was for Ben. Which means it COULD NOT be him. Screen caps of the article Jack was reading show the name Ja?????athen. It's someone we haven't met yet.

The "Ja" could just as well be "Jo" for all you can tell, even in HD. Jack, James, John... who knows. What kills the idea of it being Sawyer (c'mon...nah), Locke (stood too close to sumthin' ya blew up?), or Jack (now THAT'S just a stoopid idea) is the end of the name: -athen. I still say it's someone we don't know yet.

There are 2 people we know for a fact have used aliases in the real world: Kate and Sawyer. Both did so to avoid the police. There's no reason to assume those problems would just disappear once they got back to the real world.

^ Well, that is true. Actually, when first saw the pic, it struck me by the fold/wrinkle in the paper that the article wasn't stating a complete name...IOW only a last name. Dunno. Someone we haven't met. That's my story, I'm sticking to it.

Weren't there 4 others watching the 3 captives and then 3 of them were killed after Hurley came driving out. Am I wrong on this?
AWESOME episode and really a awesome season, there were a few sleepers in the beginning but wow that was some great TV.
EDIT: and what about when Jack and Kate meet at the end and she said "he" will wonder where I am or something, who is "he", makes me think Ben might still be around, or she is with Sawyer.

ya, the fast foward stuff opened the show up for next season for sure .... just looked at your music list, hey i have on my Strokes hoodie today ... casual friday as it were .. cr****
did anyone notice how fake jack's beard looked. is that an early other's disguise? maybe it was Julliete who died?!?!?!
That was bothering me the entire episode. It just seemed so uneven and patchy. Like it was not glued on to his face correctly.
Edit- And my vote goes for Ben being in the casket. But I think that is so obvious, that is what they are trying to make you think. Who knows, just glad that the show got back its swagger.
I was not happy about the last show, I think it was Ben because everyone was turning on him but from the flash forwards Jack's dad was alive. So if they go back now everything might be diffrent. There are 2 more years too the show so we know they will not be going home anytime soon. LOST I love and hate you at the same time.
maybe they get rescued, then when they get back jack's dad is still alive and kate isn't wanted anymore (that's why she don't want to go back and is driving around with a phone number etc.) and jack is totally freaking out cuz of the obsurdity of it. so next season we'll see jack in the future other dimension message the ones on the island and tell them they can't come back.

Okay. I've been away for a while, so this may have already been said. Has anyone else noticed the obvious tie-ins to Stephen King's world, especially "The Dark Tower"? Now, combine that with the fact that it's JJ Abrams that is supposed to be making the "DT" movie and...
Well, I don't know what it means...but it's very interesting.
