I can't vote because I am a brit, but I personally would love to see Hillary in the White House. I think she will get a large percentage of the female vote. At this point though, I would be happy with anyone other than Bush.
Dem odds: Al Gore 7-2 Barack Obama 3-1 Bill Richardson 20-1 Evan Bayh 7-1 Hillary Clinton 4-5 Joe Biden 10-1 John Edwards 7-2 John Kerry 8-1 Tom Vilsack 6-1 Wesley Clark 20-1
Rep odds: Colin Powell 30-1 Condoleeza Rice 12-1 George Allen 15-1 George Pataki 10-1 Jeb Bush 40-1 John McCain 6-5 Mike Hucklebee 15-1 Mitt Romney 6-1 Newt Gingrich 7-2 Rudy Giuliani 10-11 Sam Brownback 8-1
well im sorry to say i thin the republicans will win. the only way to for the dems to lose is to run a woman or a black man. especially with a name like barak hussein obama. and it looks like thats what will happen. obviously i think they would do a better job but the fanatics that elect bush arent going to vote for a woman or a black man. im thinking it will be mccain and powell as vp( i know hes black too, but he can appeal to republicans and a portion of the dems. obama has no rep. support). possibly guiliani. but really hes a joke and brings too much baggage. hopefully it will be edwards with hillary or obama as vp. thats the onl hope i see to beat the fanatics that vote for bush.
i vote lou dobbs for president. he makes the most sense.

I'm with ya on most of that.....but, with the momentum the dems currently have, this might be the best time to break some barriers.
i do agree. it does seem that the dems could run dennis rodman and win because of the republicans colossal screw up with bush. but those fanatics will get out and vote. they wont want a woman running a war. and i dont know. its probably unfair and offensive but i beleive most of the bible belt fanatic voters are also racists. at least racist enough not to vote for a black man. but i think edwards as the front man might be a perfect oppurtunity for some barriers to be broken with hillary or obama as vp. and if all goes well that could definitely be turned into a succesful presidential run for either of them. but i dont see hillary settling for vp. but thaths fine. i almost think that edwards obama would stand a better chance. hopefully jeb bush will come out of nowhere and get the nomination. oj could beat another bush.
and i respect that obama comes clean on pot and coke in college. none of this"i didnt inhale" crap. sure he down plays it but hes not a just making shit up. and i dont see how the republicans can raise too much of a stink about it after putting a coke head alcoholic into office. and i think hes still a drunk. he seems drunk, sounds drunk, looks drunk, and hes always falling off of bikes and segues. and i still dont buy the pretzel story. although hes is a moron. but i think he was drunk and fell. but i did love the french governments pretzles for peace initiative where they asked everyone to mail pretzels to the white house. that was funny stuff.

McCain is going to struggle mightily with his Iraq stance. If last weekend was any idication, this escalation is a horrific idea. He has been asking for this for a long time (he was probably right about 'more troops' in the first 2-3 years of this tragic war, but now it is just bad strategically & politically) and to defend it now could end up equaling an elimination from the race.
Rudy Giuliani probably wont get the nomination, or possibly even make a serious run. His withdrawl from the 2000 NY Sneate race indicates a lack of willingness to really battle it out in one of these big nasty elections at this point in his life.
What I see happening on the GOP side are those two frontrunners falling out at some point either due to Iraq (McCain) or lack of desire (Rudy). Mitt Romney looks the part of President but has shown alot of inconsistencies on major issues that could haunt him during the primary season...he very well could run the risk of repeating the mistakes of his father that spoiled his chances of ever beig President (He said he had been 'brainwashed' on the Vietnam war in 1968). My feeling is that the Republican nomination will come down to either Mike Huckabee or Tommy Thompson...with a possibility of Chuck Hagel if the Iraq situation keeps getting worse.
On the Dem side - Hillary Clinton is the clear frontrunner but will really have to distance herself from hr original vote of 'yes' for going into Iraq. I still dont get how people can talk about Obama's "lack of experience"...his 8 years in the Illinois state legislature & what will by then be 4 years in the Senate (and consistent opposition to Iraq) is far superior to Hillary's will-be 8 years in the Senate (where she voted for and stood with Bush on the Iraq war up until only recently).
The one Democratic who is by far the best equipped for the job is Gov Bill Richardson of Nevada. He has the executive experience, a great speaker, charisma, has Cabinet experience, has been an Ambassador, etc.
i really think the giuliani thing is just to use his 9/11 hero status to raise a bunch of funds for the republicans... i dont think hes serious at all. maybe planning to try and hop on as vp. but i doubt that too. but the 9/11 hero thing goes a long ways with the republican voters. but i dont think his record will fly with the conservatives. but maybe his 9/11 hero image will be enough to overcome that.

Yeah, Hillary for president. Let's let 2 families, the Bushes and Clintons, own the executive branch for almost 30 years. Great idea. Bring on the dynasties, democracy was getting boring.
I'm tellin you the ticket to win for the Dems is Edwards/Obama. Hillary will not win the general election. There are too many people that hate her. Me being one of them. She's so rehearsed, and such a typical politician. Plus I'm fed up with the BushClintonBushClinton thing. We need new blood in there. Obama doesn't have the experience to win. But listen to Edwards. He's awesome. He's got some brilliant ideas, common sense ideas(imagine that). Put Obama as the VP and let him run in 8 years. Edwards and Obama are both extremely well spoken, as opposed to Hillary who could put a sloth to sleep.
As far as the Republicans go, I'd watch Chuck Hagel. I think he might wind up running, and if he does, I'd probably vote for him before Hillary. He's really standing up to Bush with this whole "troop surge" thing. I think he's tryin to set himself apart from Bush. He actually went off at the committee hearing the other day. I agreed with everything he was saying. I like that guy. McCain can't figure out what he wants to stand for. He won't make it. And Guliani is far too liberal for most republicans. The Republicans don't have any serious candidates, so far.
One more time, everybody say it with me, and tell your friends....... Edwards/Obama Edwards/Obama

Personally, I think there's truth to the "you only get one chance" theory, because after that (right or wrong) you are labeled a loser. Edwards hooked-up with the wrong guy last time and shot himself in the foot. Hillary IS a polarizing character, but what was "W"...or Bill? People eat that stuff-up and for good reason; these canditates are not only stirring things up, but they have so much to prove over-all that they face an incredible up-hill climb(some fail horribly). Hillary reminds people of the good old days. I mean, can you imagine a better period in American history than the '90s? I can't. And no matter what people say in bullsh*t polls, we never felt more comfortable/safe/superior than we did then. Not only does Hillary have first-hand experience in how to do things right, but she has the support/advice of one of the best presidents in our short history. The Clintons (as a whole) are a money-raising-machine and that is exactly what we ALL need to give us a fair chance against a party primarily funded by the biggest/most powerful military, oil & pharmaceutical interests in U.S. history. Yeah, there are other canditates that I would rather see win, but the simple fact is this....ONLY ONE CAN WIN! Chose wisely or don't chose at all. It's too important this time. Think about it, PLEASE!

you need the middle-of-the-road vote to win. the independents, which I happen to be one of them. and I'm sayin that unless she's runnin against McCain I'd probably vote republican.....and that's sayin alot. I REALLY don't like her. I equate her with every other high falutin political bullsh!tter out there. she's not good at empathizing with the majority of Americans. sure most people loved Bill, and it would be good late-night talk show fodder, but she doesn't stand for anything. she's tryin to be everything to everyone, and that sh!t doesn't fly with me. **whispers** Edwards/Obama Edwards/Obama

I've been on the Edwards/Obama train for a while. Sometimes Edwards seems a little too slick for his own good, but there are worse things.....like being a complete idiot.
I don't think Edwards losing the last election will hurt. Nobody put that loss on him, and if anything, the exposure he got helps because that would be a very inexperienced ticket.
Plus he's from the south. Most recent democrats that won were from the south.
i posted tis in another thread but it applies here too
i like to compare our election system to going to a restaurant that only has 2 dishes. a bowl of sh.it and a bowl of puke. im gonna say no thanks and walk out disgusted. thats how i feel about voting.
the 2 party system needs to go. but then the people really running shit wont get to put thier handpicked lackees up there. they are all to horible to support. imo. when someone runs on drug law reform and election reform then i will be more likley to give a shit. or someone who would rather drop a billion dollars worth of food a month instead of a billion worth of bombs.
well he is for drug courts and rehab over incarceration. whihc is something i can get behind(only because its better then the current situation. still wrong though imo). but he is not for legalization and is for harsher mandatory sentencing for dealers. and hes for preferential treatment of minoriteis when it comes to governmetn programs. hes also a big death penalty guy. but i think hes one of the best options. right to choose, stem cell, gay marriage. education, healthcare (minus the illegals though) he seems to be one of the better options out there. but still leaves alot to be desired. i whole heartedly disagree with him on immigration and mandatory human services for illiegals.
