You can always try torrentspy.com or mininova.org. Those are the ones I use when I don't want to put a drain on my Oink. There's alot of good stuff on those.
I didnt know about that clever thing, looks like too much of a pain for me, just leaving my stuff up to seed has me at a .66 ratio at almost 9gigs downloaded.
Clever means your connectable to everyone...meaning you are not being blocked by a firewall and you can connect to people who are clever or NOT clever. That way you can upload more and download more. You have to foward your ports to do this...but trust me its worth it...it makes everything better....I've only been a member for two weeks but I've uploaded almost 13 gigs downloaded 7 and have a ratio of 1.9

Torrents are definitely the way to go. Save, reliable, fast. They're the mercedes of music piracy.
I prefer uTorrent as the client, and use OiNK to find anything that I would want musically. Their selection used to be a bit heavy toward the indie-type stuff, but now they're very broad and very deep. And you know, on OiNK that everything will be on the up-and-up.

I use utorrent (just as good but less resources that azureus) and most of my stuff comes off a private tracker, but i also use isohunt, and piratebay.org

Ahh, i have my ports forwarded, so no troubles there.
