That seems a little condecending to me. Your saying either I dont have them but I secretly want them or I dont have them and never will like I gotta be anti. I just plain dont have them.
i would have them but im not inot the same things that danbird spoke to. my hair has been short for 10 years. even long hair bothered me. such a pain in the ass. but its getting long now and i have little intention of cutting it. but once the summer heat hits it might force me to. but the dreads just seem like too much work and discomfort(if you dont want them to be gross) otherwise id have them.
isnt washing them a pain??and i heard if you swim alot they get moldy if you dont take the time to try and dy them afterwards, anyone know about that???

I do not have dreads, but my hair is certainly long enough (about 13" long all the way around) and if my "life" would allow it, I would definitely dread my hair.
I do not think my boss would be real happy with me going into a business meeting in dreadlocks!!

yea im gunna keep it short and pink for a while
but imma have them back in few months i cut them b/c i didnt rip them apart so they started to form together so one drunkin night my friend convinced me to let him cut them apart and since they werent conected to the roots my hair started to fall out

One of my closest friend is Italian/German with some sort of other European background in there and his hair naturally dreads. He's had them for about 7-8 years now and untied they get about down to his waist.
Personally theyre not for me. I feel I get unjustly labeled enough because my hair falls between my ear and shoulders. I put way too much time, effort and emotion into getting my life together over the past 6 years to come off looking like that. At this point in my life I cant deal with people looking at me like Im some smack-addled cipher. I like my hair where it is, so it stays. Don't grow dreads to define yourself, grow them because you enjoy the way they look. I just feel that too many people do ithe former.

sounds like your not growing dreads or long hair to define yourself as not a "smack-addled cipher" id be sad to live my life worried about what others will think of me.

I hope you dont know what its like to walk around and have people stare at you because you look like exactly what you are. An emaciated junkie. People make mistakes, and if they can correct those mistakes they try to seperate themselves from them. Let me put it in other terms because most people talk like they know sh*t about addiction and theyre clueless. If you're a good old normal american girl, love your daddy, come home on time, dont have group orgys, etc. Lets say you dress a little permiscuously and you happen to get raped one night. One might say this would cause good old Ms Sweetheart to re-evaluate her dress code, correct? Is she extremely concerned with how others view her? No, she made one small innocent mistake and winds up dealing with it for the rest of her life.
To say my statement displays an extreme concern of mine pertaining to other peoples views on me is absurd. Because let me tell you how easy it is to do things like getting a job, renting an apartment, making friends, getting your teachers to like you, and about a thousand other things when you look like that.
If you actually read it you would know that I HAVE long hair, almost down to my shoulders. I like it so I keep it. I do however draw a line now that was never there when I was younger. Most of us who actually live in the real world DO have to worry what our bosses and landlords think about us because it effects our quality of life. I would be sad to go through life not understanding that.

Wow, you are a sad, sad person. I'm very sorry that you so vastly misunderstand both the motives of a rapist and a woman's role in being the victim of such a horrible act. People get raped all the time, and if Ms Sweethart had been dressed in an ape costume it wouldn't stop the sick as sholes that get their kicks from the violent act of rape. I hope you get some help and understanding about the way real life works.

In a nutshell, we burn ourselves knowingly until we learn. I'm not even gonna into that ignorant junkie rapist comment. More addicts than not are very normal people who made one stupid mistake. Small in comparison to the thousands of mistakes we make. You're obviously very uneducated on this with the view that all junkies are track marked, needle using freaks.
At this point in my life I believe greatly in myself. I'm fast tracking to a successful future and am more comfortable with myself than Ive ever been. You're more than likely the product of some small minded idiots who imposed their perspective on you. Ok, see even that I can appreciate. I think my point was a bit twisted by you, but I absolutely dont either. My hard earned money goes to helping women who have had unfortunate experiences regardless of the circumstances. I dont care if their drunk, naked, and spread eagle, theres no fathomable excuse. You should have more compassion for people who make mistakes, because we all do and we all need each other to lean on. Im a boarderline Libertarian. They believe that if you crash and burn due to your head and ass not being wired correctly then its not fault but your own. Thats why Im boarderline, its true but we'll never benefit as a whole. The way we benefit as a whole is by trying to understanding each others personal situations and trying to help those with the desire to rise who have truly fallen.
