I dont know why you guys are saying it was out of frustration, it just seemed like a smart play to me, also it was basically the game winning play.... The guy had the ball covered, so if he would've went for the ball it would've just been a jump ball. He pushed him, below the neck, and not really that hard, he was already off balance, and he didnt hit the post, he just fell down. I think they got the call right, but it doesnt matter at all, because its done.

I think they kept the officiating consistent, and while if the rest of the game were called another way it could've been a flagrant, the way they officiated the rest of the game it didnt warrent one. They were lettin a lot of plays just go on, fun to watch though, physical game.

Fouling a guy when you're down by two is the game winning play? I've heard a lot of things, but that takes the cake for pandering to Greg Oden ;D

It is my understanding that very very rarely they call a flagrant below the neck, atleast in the NBA. Theres a difference between a hard and flagrant foul.
1. Here is what we were told on a number of different occasions over many seasons by a number of different assignment chairmen and many coaches who attended these meetings: if the foul is blatantly/unequivocally intentional: a punch that connects, a hard push where the player gets seriously injured, an undercut where the player sails through the air and lands on his back or head then you are instructed/required to call such a foul intentional or flagrant. 2. If on the other hand there is some doubt in your mind about the severity of the foul and the factors listed above are absent you were instructed NOT to call it intentional or flagrant and "let the kids decide the outcome of the game." 3. This makes such a call very subjective and subject to officials' interpretation but they have drilled it into your head that at the end of the game there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that it was intentional and if it is questionable you are expected to opt for the less serious foul.
well i missed the game but saw the play. it could have went either way. im more concerned about the 20 fouls a game that oden commits that dont get called. hes like shaq. hes so big they just let him fling people around, lower his shoulder and drive through people, and go over the back and never call it. its pretty blatant. but they cant have superstars fouling and sitting on the bench. no one would watch.

Yeah, ^but he also gets fouled a lot and it doesnt get called. I think its more just true big men in general rather then stars. They're gonna let them dish a little if they can take it too. Fine with me, i rather see people bangin it inside then calling a bunch of fouls.
i agree. but soemtimes i see them make calls against others, even other buckeyes, and then they dont call it on him. or he hacks em and they call it on a buck that hardly touched the guy.
im sure its mostly my bias when i watch the bucks. and i dislike shaq almost as much as the bucks. i do think he gets away with more. but i loved it when jordan got away with more. its sourgrapes for the most part michigan needs to rebuild. send carr to the unemployment line along with amacker. 1 out of 2 aint bad i guess.
Well, looks like OSU might not get that shot - I'm pretty amazed at what I'm seeing so far. I know UT is streaky, but they've been on all first half...

In college, I agree. At the pro level, that would have been 100% flagrant.

Wow, why does OSU have to do that to me every game. I didnt doubt them at all, half a game is a long time to come back, especially if your OSU. I was definatly sweatin it a bit though, good game.

^ I agree DMB, I can not complain too much, but I will as much as possible. The last shot at the end would not have mattered if tehy would have kept the 20 point lead. But I did enjoy watching it nonetheless, they'll be back next year.

ya that was crazy. i think that foul was no called becasue of the clean block by osu that was called a foul the play before. for those who dont know i hate the bucks. with a passion. but that first one was a clean block and it was called a foul. the last one should have been called. but oh well. and the vols deserved to lose. what a horrible second half. go memphis!!!!

Greg Oden has some mad ups for someone his size. I feel bad for Ivan Harris when he basically went through him, but no one noted that that loud thud was actually Greg Oden's chin being the first part of him to hit the floor. I bet that was pretty painful. Greg Oden hasnt been playing great, but when its clutch, he steps it up.
nope. went to bed in positive woke up in negative. just the haters. damn i love those dudes!
and about odens chin. why the hell does the blood on shirt rule not apply to oden?? he should have been out of the game getting a new shirt or having that one sterilized. damn biased ncaa. gotta keep the stars on the floor i guess!
