Looks sick. Another Frank Miller Novel made into a movie, you cant go wrong. Loved Sin City and doing a movie on the Battle of Thermopelae has been needed. A truly insane story...
ya this movie looks good. i saw a special about the movie on the history channel followed by a doc on the actual story. the movie brings some sci fi mythology stuff into it but it looks like it just makes it more exciting. what an incredible story. i like the stories from back when it was a real battle. no gps/laser guided bombs, its face to face and invovles alot of pure skill. war has become too impersonal these days, for soldiers and civilian populations(well american civilians anyhow). if it still went down like the old days i think we would have alot less wars. anyhow i love violent war movies, which is odd cause i hate violent wars. but i cant wait to check this one out.

Agreed. I have been watching a lot of Chan-wook Park movies lately, and it made me realize that its a lot easier to kill someone without a face, which is why i think there are so many wars. You need to really mean it to get up next to person and look them in the eyes and stab them. That said, im hoping i can catch an earlier matinee and not have to get there early, looks awesome.

Anyone have a report on how it is on the IMAX. I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow, but I'm not sure if this is the kind of movie that's gonna be improved on the IMAX or not.

I've heard it definitely is. regrettably it's not playing in imax here, so i won't have a chance to check it out!
i have a friend who caught it on imax. hes said it was an amzaing movie. his only complaint was that the blood looked fake. but he said the real looking meat and bones were great. he also said that the unexpected amount of nudity made up for the blood. damn i wish i didnt live 3 hours from an imax.

The blood just coordinated witht the coloring of the movie, and blood could very possibly look like that. It looked fine with me, definatly not out of place. Not saying your friend is wrong, just that it looked fine to me, and definatly wouldnt worry about that if your planning on going to see it.
oh i plan on seeing it!! asap i cant wait. i havent been this excited about a movie since saving private ryan. or the patriot. i cant remember which came out most recently. i was really excited for 'we were soldiers' but it kinda let me down. still good though. he noted that it was a small complaint for sure. he also loved the comic book and was pleased to see how well it represented it. i wanna see it now! i hate living in the boonies!!!

Wait a minute, how does your friend know what blood looks like when its comming out of someone who was just beheaded? Sounds like you need to reavaluate your friends.

i dont even compare this movie to Sin City, they are two totally different styles of movies. i compare this to Braveheart, or Gladiator. just cause its Frank Miller, doesnt mean one is better than the other, because, IMO they are not compareable. yes Sin City is fantastic, but 300 is also. ;D
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
They're only comparable b/c they're both based on Miller's books. They are two totally different movies.
I think Miller based his 300 book on the old version of the movie. So that makes it a movie based on a book that was based on a movie that was based on a book.
