I know it is a little early....but for those of you like me who are counting down the minutes until Election 2008 ;D who are you leaning towards so far?
I am hoping for John Edwards with Obama for VP. I think Hilary would lose the general election to almost any Republican and I plain don't care for her. And I think Edwards can appeal to the south better than Obama as the #1 guy on the ticket.

I am not sure quite yet, but, I do know that Hilary lost my vote when she was aired making contradictory comments about the war. Said one thing, then the complete opposite.
i hate all candidates right now. Why are they campaigning now, to get money. Who gives the money? Corporations and individuals with special interests. So basically if one of the people running now become president, it is almost guaranteed that they will just be a puppet for the financiers. Its gonna be another dark 4 years no matter who wins.
On the other hand, not that I support this, but would find it funny and interesting, is if Gore jumps in. Imagine Clinton and Obama shooting negative campaigns the whole way and tire each other a few months before the elections. Then Gore jumps in, fresh look and ideas, and just steals all the spotlight.
im guessing gore will win. with clinton as vp. you know the bush clinton dynasty isnt going to give up their monarchy easily! theyve had a hold on it for the past 27 years! i think we can look forward to 8 years of gore, 8 of hillary, 8 of jeb, 8 of chealsea, 16 years of the twins! it will never stop!!!!! well not until gloabal warming and war take all of us. then it might stop. who knows. bush talks to god. they might be running heaven too and you know cheneys got hell locked down. they control everything!!

oh ya and my mom sent me this email i just read. i figure some here might get a chuckle out of it...
President Bush, First Lady Laura and Dick Cheney were flying on Air Force One.
George looked at Laura, chuckled and said, "You know, I could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy."
Laura shrugged her shoulders and replied, "I could throw ten $100 bills out of the window and make ten people very happy."
Cheney added, "That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the window and make a hundred people very happy."
Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his copilot, "Such big shots back there. Shit, I could throw all of them out of the window and make 56 million people very happy."

I'm leaning towards Obama right now, after those contradicting war comments im really not a fan of Clinton, though i never was. Man does Hilary suck compared to Bill. I agree though that if Gore decided to run he'd probably win with ease. He's gotten hugely popular since he lost, and a lot more "hip", and i do think hes a little more accesable now then he was then, just seems like he's loosened up.
i think gore is the best choice. it would almost be enough to get me out to vote. but he will win my state by a landslide so really no need for me to vote. after that i think obama is the next best choice. but i just dont see it happening. i think the majority of people who vote are still in the dark ages (thats how bush won) and wont vote for a black man. even a portion of democrats. and they will make a big deal out of his medrassa days. although thats insane. but it will happen and people will buy it. his name is barack hussein obama. people will buy all the mud slinging. its sad but true. and id rather see hillary or edwards over anyone on the republican side. i could have seen myself supporting a mccain/powell ticket but not after they both went crazy. and ill cut powell some slack for getting out when he saw he was being used as part of this administrations propaganda. but mccain could have been president. but i think he threw it away pandering to people. rudy dosent stand a chance! (yes ive seen the movie) but seriously. that will never happen. but he will raise a lot of money. i think his whole campaign is to just be a fundraiser for republicans. maybe a bid for vp. the mccain/giuliani ticket could make it close. just because of popularity. but i still see the dems winng by a large margin.

Obama has the power right now, despite speculation towards him, as a Political Science major i debate this idea every day...Obama in 08, we will see a black president before a woman president which is why hilary wont win...Obama is a great public speaker as well...charm wins an audience

I'm going to respectfully refrain from speculating in this matter. I will say this:
I feel pretty strongly but,not only do I want to avoid an argument, I don't want to commit myself too early! I'm going to vote for the most intelligent liberally minded canditate...that is also ELECTABLE! We can't afford to sacrifice our future and freedom in an idealistic attempt to seem socially revolutionary. No matter who the eventual canditates are, we can't afford to senslessly waste our time on people (as great as they may be on paper) like Nader or Kucinich. Granted, these guys may have their heads and hearts in the right places but, they are also (partly) to blame for the current state of the union. Without their stylisticly futile and pointlessly devisive social "stands" against the (revolting) status quo, we wouldn't be ruled by the most power-mad, reactionary, crusading warlord in our country's history. I agree that we desperately need drastic change but, that is simply/realisticly impossible if we insist on foolishly attempting it in one "half-thought-out" step! As disgusting as it may be, we have to play "the game" if we ever intend to win! If Nader hadn't selfishly exploited our grass-roots desire for radical reformation...Gore would have undeniably, irreputably and without a doubt BEEN OUR PRESIDENT! And then, maybe, we would be on a better path. Many more Americans would be alive, if nothing else! And That's enough for me!
I'm not trying to sway you, one way or the other, I'm just trying to remind you that "The lesser of Two evils", is always better than well-intentioned idealism.I wish it wasn't but, when it comes to the scummy gray area that is politics, it is! JUST DON"T MAKE UP YOUR MIND UNTIL YOU CAST YOUR VOTE!
I'm asking you all to not just feel but, to think this time. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE AGAIN!!!

well im of the mind that those who voted for nader would not have voted for anyone else if he wasnt there. most wouldnt have voted for gore. and on top of that gore made moronic decisions that cost him the election like not campaigning in his home state. and trying to distance himself from clinton. he had too much concern about blow jobs and not enough about peace and prosperity. he lost to a moron for no reason. if hed won his home state florida and good ole' jeb wouldnt have mattered. but i think gore will win easily if he ddecides to run again.

^ Not trying to argue but:
Gore did F*ck up. No one can ever deny that but, after Bush said on national tv that he didn't know who the leader of North Korea was(while campaigning!), there was no acceptable reason for him to "win". If even 1/10th of Nader supporters had voted for Gore, I don't think it would even be worthy of discussion now. Bush stole the election by a "hair".
i agree but there was no reason for bush to win regardless of nader. i know alot of people who voted for nader and if it werent nader they would have voted for a different small guy. they would not have voted for gore. and most of that was in states where gore won anyhow. its possible it made a very small , nearly insignifigant impact on gore but i dont buy it. and its really a mute point. gore won the election. he won the majority and he won florida. its just fortunate for georgie that daddy ran the cia and was president and his brother ran florida. and that no american votes counted at all. the supreme court chose our president against the will of the people. they should all be put in jail. but i agree if everyone who voted nader would have voted gore he would have won (which he already did) but there is no way everybody would have voted for him. most voted for nader because dems and repubs alike arent an acceptable option. i cant decide whos worse. i agree more with dems on policy but they never do anything. they talk and do worthless non binding crap. gimme a break. that and a handful of poo wont get you anything besides dirty hands. thats why i think gore would win in a landslide. hes got the new poularity and hipness. hes actually the fresh face now days. and hes not associated wit this new worthless democratic talk about what should be but doing nothing to achieve it. i forget who said it the ohter day. but it was a senator and he said "i dont belong to an ORGANIZED political party, im a democrat." that seemed spot on.

same here. all i can say is atleast no matter what it wont be a bush. i think the worst candidate is mccain now that hes all about escalating the war in iraq. giuliani is pretty bad too. but i dont think hes got a snowballs chance in hell. if we can avoid those 2 i dont think it really matters who wins. it will be an improvement. and yet nearly nothing will change.

Giulliani is pretty f*cking scary, if you ask me! I used to like McCain but, I think he's just the conservative norm dressed in a likable-guy costume. You're right, anything different will probably be better. And i'm all for that. I just want "us" to have a fighting chance this time.
Even if/when nothing changes, that means that it won't get any worse......HOPEFULLY!
i think another terror attack is the biggest thing that could come up. after the spain thing im thinking its possible for 08. seems to me like it would help mccain and giuliani. but then again it shows incompetence by the bush administration. but who hasnt conceded that? and now they can blame it on being handcuffed by a democratic congress. i think thats my biggest concern and seems the only way that the dems could lose. will america really elect a woman or a man who has madrassa connectiions and is named barack hussein obama if the country is under attack?

That's my big hang-up with Obama! I can't imagine mainstream America electing a man with "Hussein" anywhere in his name. I REALLY like him but, I just don't think that he's electable no matter how well things are going. And that is just typicaly sad, misguided American politics.
You're right. An attack would, in fact, only serve to bolster McCain (a war/torture veteran) or Guilliani (a man who triumphantly walked down a street while being filmed). Both scary options.
Either way, no matter what....."they" will find a way to blame some aspect of someting on the supposed actions or inactions of some liberal decision or indecision, in a unbelievably transparent (and most likely sucessful) attempt to throw-up a pliticaly post-emptive smoke screen.
I hate politics....and politicians but, I hate(and am scared of) theirs' so much more!

I think a John Stewart/Stephen Colbert ticket would be sweet.
In reality though, I'd vote for whoever the Democratic candidate ends up being (and really hope it's either Obama or Hilary - this country is soooo overdue for a non-white-male leader). I know there's a wellspring of optimism around Gore right now, but I'm not convinced it will be maintained for another year and a half (especially once the real campaigning and debating begins). And besides, I think he's been more effective on bringing awareness and potential change to what is possibly the single most important issue of our time because he's NOT President (and isn't summarily tied to special interest groups).
