This summer looks like a great time to stay cool and watch some movies. There are so many movies that I couldn't even list them all, but out of the all I have to say I want to see Spidey. What about everyone else?
Here is a list of a few other movies that I couldn't fit in the poll: The Simpsons Knocked Up Ratatouille Even Almighty Fantastic 4:The Rise of the Silver Surfer Hairspray 28 Weeks Later Live Free or Die Hard Rush Hour 3 Surfs Up

I voted for other, The Simpsons movie is my must see, even though I am skeptical (seeing as they havent had good seasons in a while). But im holding out hope that it will be good...Who knows
I've begun rereading HP from book 1 so I can have the series reread before book 7 comes out.
So I'm definitely looking forward to the movie!
(my boyfriend would pick Transformers. He won't shut the hell up about it. He's been showing me leaked promo shots for more than a year now, like I have a clue about Transformers. I don't think I ever watched it. Next he'll be buying the "action figures." Save me plz)
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."
Man, it may be just me, but this year looks like "big-movie year 2002" all over again. But I think I've gotta go with Shrek, of the ones on the list, but I voted other, for the new Jack Nicholson/ Morgan Freeman movie "The Bucket List," directed by one of my personal favs, Rob "Meathead" Reiner. Just by the way it sounds, I hope Nicholson gets a nod for it, can't help but feel he was snubbed this year.
I'm gonna go with the new P.T. Anderson flick, There Will Be Blood. He hasn't made a bad movie yet, and this time out he's doing a period piece starring Daniel Day Lewis as a California oil man at the turn of the century.
The new Coen brothers movie looks really promising too. Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, Woody Harrelson in a pulp noir flick. Hopefully it's a return to form for the brothers Coen.

^^^ That's Wes Anderson, PT Anderson directed Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, etc. Wes Anderson did Rushmore, Life Aquatic, Royal Tenenbaums. Both good, just very different styles.
Anyway, I've been in love with the Simpsons my whole life and no matter how much I'm sure the movie will disappoint me I can't help but be excited and I'll be there opening day/night no matter what.

ALTHOUGH, that post inspired me to check up on ol Wes Anderson and apparently he does have a new movie coming out this year, scheduled for Christmas. It's called the Darjeeling Limited and its plot description on IMDb is:
The brothers believe their father has been reborn as an albino leopard, and trace their mother to a convent where she teaches poor children. The train they travel by is The Darjeeling Limited, and they are on a search for their father/Leopard.
That is officially number 2 on my most excited for list...why is December so far away???
P.S. He's also working on another one that has been announced for awhile (The Fantastic Mr. Fox), but it's constantly getting delayed and pushed back, so who knows what's up with that.
hahah, I'm such a fool, but wow, I totally forgot that guys name. That's even more exciting now I know who he is, Boogie Nights is like one of my 3 favorite movies. I feel like such a fool.
^^^Fantastic Mr. Fox is a project he's working on with Noah Baumbach. I believe the reason why that project got pushed back was not so much Wes Anderson's slate as Baumbach's. Because of the exposure the Life Aquatic and The Squid and the Whale got him, Baumbach became a hot commodity and is doing a dream project of his right now with an A-list cast.
how was The Squid and The Whale? I wanted to see it, but some idiot at Blockbuster convinced me to put it back and rent some movie that was so mediocre I can't remember. I had heard it was really good, but I had no clue it was related to Anderson.

Id heard some rumors, I am really excited to hear this, I love Wes Anderson films, I remember watching Bottle Rocket when I was younger, great movie...
i don't know much about any other movies coming out this year, so i chose off the list and had to go with harry potter. what a sensational franchise...though i will admit i'm far more excited about the release of the final book!!!
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

Doesn't the fact that all of the "big" films this year are sequels and tv show adaptations say something about how dried-up, boring and uninspired American cinema has become? That being said, i'll probably go see the new "Pirates" movie.

Eh, I'm not that pessimistic. Summer blockbusters have never represented the crowning achievements of American cinema, at least as an art form. Summer is about the big money makers, the good stuff comes out all year round. I guess if you want to debate the degradation of the summer movies, you're probably right. Few of these movies can compare to Jaws or the Indiana Jones movies or Star Wars...but then again those are all in a league of their own.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters. Truly a cinematic masterpiece.
Truer words have never been spoken.
I voted for Spiderman 3. I can't believe there aren't more Spidey fans here. It's gonna rock my socks. And it comes out in less that 2 weeks, HUZZAH!!!!
