he's certainly champion of tooting his own horn on the issue of 9/11, but I read that while he was closing down strip joints, the city's safety equipment was allowed to slip into deep disrepair resulting in sub standard radio equipment et al that would have greatly helped the rescue efforts.
There is no doubt in my mind that he has benefited from the tragedy, and continuing to trumpet about it in a partisan fashion is sickening.

"He didnt exactly round up homeless people and send them to concentration camps. He provided shelters for the homeless, if they didnt want to go they knew they would most likely be arrested. "
******************** It's the if they didn't want to go they'd be arrested part that makes me nervous. I would understand the "move it along, no sleeping here" thing but arrested!!??!!
Who watched the Debates?? The question of partial birth abortion came up, and the best answer came from Biden. Obama turned that one around to something different also

My power went out that night...I am curious to hear what they said about this....
Not sure who will win, but I look forward to a stark rise in the threat level around the election and lower gas prices.
I hope it's Gore. Don't want Hillary or Obama... Repub's dont seem to offer much - especially if they continue on thier current positions. I read somewhere that they are moving away from the christian right...which would be a great thing.

Gore needs to come out and run. He will win, and he will get my vote
Anyone know/care much about Chuck Hagel? Hes a bit farther back in the GOP lineup but he shares some(not all) of my views.. if the Dems nominate a complete nutjob for some reason and their running against Hagel I might toss my vote over.
I still cant believe i am so into politics. . . . . . but i guess that can be a good thing?? lol
its a great thing. we need more americans like you, who care enough to find out for themselves about the people that will run the country. we need to stop the groupthink.

Republican debate will be tonight on MSNBC. Chris Matthews will moderate.
Here's your cast of characters- Sen John McCain (AZ) Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani Former MA Gov Mitt Romney Sen Sam Brownback (KS) Former WI Gov Tommy Thompson Former AR Gov Mike Huckabee Former VA Gov Jim Gilmore Rep Tom Tancredo (CO) Rep Duncan Hunter (CA) Rep Ron Paul (TX)
Hagel is a bit too "conservative" for me but I really respect him in that he sticks to his views and doesn't care if it's the popular opinion (ie anti-war). I think his chances are slim exactly because he won't bow to the established powers.

I don't know if he can win, but I hope Fred Thompson decides to run.
Then I heard that James Dobson and the Focus on the Family group doesn't care for him.
Now I REALLY hope he runs ;D
Chris Matthews moderating a Republican debate? What's next, Sean Hannity moderating a Democratic town hall meeting?
Personally, I don't think these debates do much to define candidates or make meaningful progress, regardless of which side is doing them. Too many candidates, too little time to really answer questions in a thoughtful way.
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."
It's too early for anyone to really stick their neck out so you really just get talking points. Still you get to see candidates that you don't know.
I think Thompson will run and get the nomination. He's the perfect Repub candidate. He has good stage presence and hasn't taken any controversial positions. He pretty much just voted the Party line when he was a TN senator.
So someone give me the 411 on the repub debate. I don't have cable TV and can't find any video clips. I saw that amny don't believe in evolution, they all LOVE Reagan, and they all think Gonzales and Libby are great (even if they broke the law.)
Anything interesting or enlightening occur? Anyone change your mind?
A few of my opinions changed on some of the candidates for sure.
Troo if you go to msnbc.com to the debates section there is a spot to watch either debate, it does have ads every 20 mins or so though, but you can fullscreen it
I'm watching the debate and I'm a little scared at how each candidate is trying to out do the other on attacking IRAN (not Iraq.) Most seem to be implying that Iran has already all but declared war on the US and is trying to show "I'd attack Iran quicker than my opponent."
