Very interested in Fred Thompson. All of the democratic candidates scare the absolute poop out of me (as they have for the last 12 years) and many of the republicans do as well...used to like McCain before he apparently started doing drugs and going crazy.....Mitt Romney has the right "look" but nothing else.....Guliani is kind of a "slick willy"......the whole situation is kinda scary.....AIN'T IT?
Speaking as someone who had Thompson as a Senator, I think he's the perfect Republican candidate. He's an actor with great stage presence and almost no record to attack. He voted straight down the Party line and I cannot remember him sponsoring a single bill (though he must have done something) or taking a hard stand on anything.
My prediction is he will get the nomination and is the only Repub that can win the general election. If he does, look forward to him staying the course and doing exactly as he is told by the Party.

watched the republican debate tonight. All of them gave the typical party lines accept Ron Paul. I liked his answer on the war. Several times he pointed to the war being the problem of big government spending and he was the only one who didn't tout the party line and wants to get the troops out. In fact, he's won me over. Everytime they'd throw a question at him, he would come back with answer outside the box, a paradigm shift getting to the real root of the problem. In fact IMO, if you give the typical political answers, you get more of the same politcs. Ron Paul had the answers that made sense to me. He wasn't touting the party one liners. he was strait forward, told us the answer the american public doesn't want to beleive, but is the truth. The war is the problem. He also chatted about how if we were not so smotheringly over there, 911 wouldn't have happened in the first place.
the highlight of the whole debate was the lightning striking and messing up the mic right as rudy started to defend his pro choice stance. everyone moved away from him. it was almost as good as the dove pooping on bush. thats some crazy stuff. i think the aliens are messing with us.

Depends on who has the vote count flipper button, since now they can change the election thru electronic voting machines.
I heard one guy say "Whoever believes in electronic voting machines should have their head examined." They might want Billary in again.......
those republicans scare me. The democrats at least somewhat represent whom i want in a president. Well not all of them, not Kucinich, not Gravel, Not Dodd. Maybe Richardson. I like Clinton, Biden, Edwards and i guess Obama.
Well, i feel all he does is spew retoric, (like Obama), and views do not reflect mine. And for some reason, i dont trust him. Plus the wife thing creeps me out a bit.

Fair enough. I will say, in his defense, that his views are 100% his own and he lives what he preaches. He Has been against our occupation of Iraq since it's onset. Not just lately, when it has become the thing to do amongst democrats who gave Bush a blank check to begin with. He says what he says loud and proud, but he IS righteous. Most people who are dems but against Kucinich say something about him being "unelectable" so I was just curious as to your reasons.
As far as his wife goes.... I guess if I looked like he did my whole life, I might be proud of attracting such a hottie, too.
I'll be voting for him in the primary, but supporting a 3rd party candidate in the general if I even vote in it.
I am bummed that both "sides" want to quash 3rd party candidates in the name of democracy. Gore played a pretty significant role in keeping Nader out of the debates in 2000.
And I can no longer get behind the "OLD BOY Network" if only to elect the "lesser of two evils".
The thing that impressed me most about his (Kucinich) Iraq stance was immediately after Bagdad fell he said let's show that this war was not about money. We should let which ever country wants the reconstruction contracts have them but they have to conduct the occupation also. They get both the mess and the $$$. That way we get out. Even Tony Blair said for us to go it alone on the occupation would send the wrong message.
Of course Bush said no way. We'd "fix" Iraq by ourselves. We obviuosly wanted the corporate pay-off (not to mention permanent bases.) Now I'm not sure if we're fixing Iraq or Iraq is breaking us. Either way Kucinich was right.

I like Kucinich on the dem. side and ron paul on the rep side....they both are honest men. I find Juliani, MCCain and Clinton are dishonest and won't fess up to the "american interests war" and you know paul and kucinich are the least funded of the candidates, so the money doesn't want them in and a sure red flag of more of the politics as usual is coming....thats the way the money wants to keep it.......especially now that they have the electronic voting machines, they can fix an election, but I'm still going all out for Ron Paul......voting my conscience!
There's supposed to be a Ron Paul meetup at BONNAROO, SO I WILL BE THERE SATURDAY MORNING ON THAT I HOPE

here's an interesting letter I received from someone...........
Why is the Republican Party supporting the annihilation of our Nation by pushing for the influx of TENS OF MILLIONS of third-world immigrants who share NOTHING with our common heritage? I will NOT be supporting ANY Republican candidate other than Ron Paul. You should take note of this, because I know MANY folks who contribute to the Republican Party (formerly, including myself) who are pulling up stakes. You will lose in 2008 because you are SELLING OUT this nation to the Chamber of Commerce and international syndicates and corporations. I am ashamed of the Republican Party and down right MAD!! There are MILLIONS of registered and soon to be former Republicans just like me. If you do not back Ron Paul, the Republican Party is FINISHED. You will NOT get the Hispanic vote by pandering to them with this immigration bill. And increasingly, the interests of business do not coincide with the interests of the American middle class. You are selling us out...and please understand that WE KNOW IT.
Here is the problem. The problem is that the plutocrats (“country-club Republicans”) co-opted the Republican Party on values issues. Once they got into power by pandering to values voters, they worked very subtly to sell off America’s assets. I’m tired of the propaganda on “markets”. I believe in “markets”, however, I also KNOW that all of this monopolistic consolidation of capital, wealth, and power is DANGEROUS. Wall Street is selling off WHOLE industries. Whole professions are at risk of being “outsourced”. We have close to a ONE TRILLION dollar trade deficit. We have a 9.9 trillion dollar national debt. Our dollar is at risk of rapid devaluation if foreign governments (namely China) decide they don’t want our dollar for their reserve currency any more.
Ron Paul addresses all of these issues with REAL discussion, REAL discourse, not this PHONY FOCUS -GROUPED CRAP these other candidates say. All of the other candidates seem TOO rehearsed, with plastic smiles, and phony sincerity and sympathy. These 5-second sound-bite platitudes from the other candidates are as stale and intellectually vapid as Clinton’s “I feel your pain”. “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”….geez, what a crock!! Also, this whole “War on Terror” is getting old too. The initial estimate for this war was 40 billion dollars (I kid you not!!). To date, we have spent over 400 billion dollars and will be pushing the ONE TRILLION dollar mark before it’s over and done with. What could ONE TRILLION dollars have bought the American people? Hell! That would buy us out of SEVERAL recessions!! And the war profiteers are making out like bandits. This is a war for oil, profit, and Israel….it’s a selfish war, and it has LITTLE to do with protecting America’s national interests. We are now in MORE danger from terrorism than before. And now this “War on Terror” is being used as an excuse to erect a police state in America.
So, the American people have been charged ONE TRILLION dollars for a war that does not help them, their jobs are being “outsourced”, their dollar is being devalued and the savings being ROBBED via inflation, their standard of living is being siphoned off, and now they must sacrifice their civil liberties and submit to a police state (Attorney General Gonzales says there is NO RIGHT TO HABEAS CORPIS…can you believe that????!!!). And now you guys want to push candidates who are no more than plastic, shallow, suits and haircuts. These guys just want to be members of the club that is destroying America.
Take notice. I hang out with your average run of the mill Republicans. I know a lot of older Republicans who contribute. I’ve told them about this stuff. Most of them have DISCONTINUED their contributions to the Republican Party and their votes. Republicans will leave the party in DROVES if you do not support a REAL candidate. RON PAUL is the only REAL candidate. You guys better change the play-book. The Internet has changed the equation. We aren’t as stupid anymore. The only salvation for the Republican Party is RON PAUL.
