Karma to you lauraroo! I drink OJ on a daily basis, so maybe that's why me quitting hasn't been as difficult as I originally thought!
My best friend's father works in a respiratory clinic of some sort at a hospital and he claims that every single one of his patients were smokers at one point in their lives. It's astonishing how so many people, myself included, know that smoking can absolutely ruin your life at an early age, yet we still do it anyways...
Thanks, strum and Happy .... I'm sure wishing you success. Mike, too. Let me know if I can help in any way. I'm available for counseling like they have in AA, lol. They need one called CA.
Hello, my name is Laura and I'm a cigarettaholic.
Strum, I thought everyone thought you were older because you look so mature in your avatar!
Just kidding, you are way cool... quit now while you are still a youngun', though. Before permanent damage is done. I waited 'til I was in my 30's and I definately did permanent damage to my lungs. The younger you are when you quit, the more your lungs will recover to their pre smoking days.
i had my last cigarette at noon on 12-05-01. At the end i was up to 3 packs a day. I used nicorette but i think exercise actually did more to help me quit, plus i quit drinking at the time also b/cause i knew if i got drunk i'd smoke.. didnt smoke weed either and lifted weight 4 days a week and did cardiovascular (jogging) 2 days a week. If you get a particuarly rought craving just take off running and dont stop till you legs give out. a

I had a friend do that once. It works really well. Not only is it pretty good for your health, but at the end they were too exhausted to even lift a cig
Last night I managed to get nice and drunk and not smoke a single cig! hooray
^^^ Dude, i got pretty drunk last night, and i didnt even get the urge!!! i realized after drinking for 2 hours that i did not even think about a cigarette!! I really didnt want one, and i almost cried i was so happy about that (keep in mind i was drunk)
Day 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That's correct. Nobody's called me beautiful yet, though
OK... here you go:
You're a bronze Adonis now; the epitome of all maleness! I must avert my eyes, lest I be blinded by your healthy glow! Women, beware, lest his overwhelming masculinitude impregnate you at 20 paces!
[edit] Mikede/Mikeroo - feel free to copy that into a note to yourself, so's you don't feel all left out like .

Well hot damn spooky!! That turned me on so much I almost need a smoke just to wind down
You all are amazing! Karma to you for staying on the plan. It will take me a little while to get to all of you, but have patience, quitters.
All the cells in your body will be thanking you over and over again once they get over being pissed off about no more nicotine! You are extending your lifespan so you can hear more music...and other stuff, tee hee.
I pretty much had to give up drinking for a while as well as being around my smoking friends and family, 'cause I'm weak and can easily be teased into doing wrong! That happened to me once before. I quit when I was about 23 and when I was 27 I had a wild night of partying and like someone else said on here, I was buying cartons by the next week. Then I smoked 1.5 packs a day for the next 10 years. DON'T let this happen to you!!
Keep up the vigilance. Be a fighter. A warrior against smoking cigarettes! I am so amazed at your progress.
^^^ I was just thinking the same thing - I should quit - I only smoke the 3-4 a day - I mean - come on - why am I smoking at all - I am a social smoker - I don't smoke all day while I am at work - I only smoke stuck in traffic or if I have someone to go outside and talk to.
hmmmm - ya'll got me to thinking now - wondering if I can get Boz to quit before Voodoo

Peer pressure is a wonderful thing. will be easy for me to quit - Boz is a whole 'nother story - he smokes about 2 packs a day and has a really stressful job. But I would reallyy like him to quit

Well best of luck to both of you! If there's anything I've learned in my years of smoking, if you're going to quit it has to be a personal choice... not a choice made because someone else wants you to. Hopefully Boz will make the right decision though, there's plenty of support in this thread if needed.
thanks for the words of encouragement and you are right - if he quits - it has to be because he is ready to quit not because I am ready for him to quit
