Thanks for the advice, but for some reason every cat I have ever met has the instinct desire to scratch the hell out of me. Thus, I am not so much of a cat person. Maybe they just always smelled my dog on me, who knows... But yeah, I'm just gonna wait a while til I can get another pooch and perhaps enjoy the lack of responsibility
Consider a rabbit. They make great apartment pets. They are also the third most often abandoned pet in the US, so there are a lot of them that need homes. Look for a House Rabbit Society chapter near you if you want a bunny. They'll adopt you an already litter trained and spayed/neutered rabbit. They will also help you get that bunny set up and taken care of right. HRS people are awesome.
Rats are also awesome apartment pets and have very dog like personalities.
I have two rabbits (Hopscotch and Luna) and one foster bunny (Brinn). My fiance and I also have 2 chinchillas (Quinn and Ishmael), 2 dogs (Aussie=Quigley and Aussie Mix= Rhea), 2 cats (Xanth and Spencer), 1 guinea pig (Ginko) , and 9 ferrets (Nigel, Maddie, Elwyn, Tress, Cricket, Turtle, Millie, Radar, and Bean). I had rats, but the darn sweet things just don't live long enough.
One of our ferrets, Elwyn, just had exploratory surgery for what we thought was liver cancer. Turns out he ate an earplug and it was filling up his entire stomach. With the earplug removed he's on the mend now :-)
I used to be a vet tech, so I have a soft spot for critters. All of them are rescues except Hopscotch who was a gift from my loser ex-boyfriend and Nigel who was an impulse purchase when he climbed up my sleeve and stole my heart. Everyone else came either from shelters, rescues, or Craig's List.

okay... sorry!? Looked hairless in the photo. I wasn't familiar with this particular breed!
What kind of snake have you got? It's pretty.
Thanks! She is a North Mexican Pine snake, the older they get the brighter they become (mostly orange and yellow). She's a doll (as much as a snake can be anyway).
Also here is my best friend (who unfortunately just had to move out of my apartment and into my parent's house):

I introduce, Cash, our shelter kitty of 2 years.
He loves plastic bags and is sporting a lion cut in 1st pic. The 2nd pic was taken during a rainy stretch two summers ago. I believe he was very ready for sunny weather so my daughter could go outside and play.
