I'm anticipating the release of the last book next week on the 21st, even going to the midnight party to pick up my book.
Anyone else?
I've been rereading them since May, more than halfway through Goblet of Fire, so I've resorted to audio books so I can listen while I'm at work next week. thumbs up for audiobooks!

who are you calling a fanatic? just because I'm going to see the movie this weekend, and buy the book at midnight next week, and read it all before I go to work at 9AM does not mean I have a problem. Oh, I guess I do. I'm going to take my tootsieroll and leave.....

I am very very excited. I went and saw the movie Tuesday night at midnight, and I really liked it. I wasn't the biggest fan of the 5th book, so I thought the movie was done very well. I especially liked the fight scenes in the Ministry of Magic.
I probably won't get the book at midnight, my little bro called it first. Do you guys think Harry will live or die?
I liked the movie, but was a little disappointed with the fight scenes mainly because they deviate so much from the book. Also, not enough time was spent on the movie's namesake, the Order of the Phoenix, which is just blasphemous. An explanation and introduction was left out entirely. But I really did enjoy it, even if I felt the priorities were a bit off. Regardless, it still ranks above other HP movies. Azkaban remains my favorite movie (i'd die if they brought Cuaron back for the final film. I love his work).
Since very early on, begrudgingly, I've thought Harry will die. It's something I really hate to expect, but I do.
It's going to be kind of sad finishing this book. Not only to mourn a death of an icon of some sort (depending on who dies), but also the end of a series that I have been looking forward to since I read the first book around the time that Goblet of Fire came out. I was late to the series, but have relished it ever since.

Mine should be at the house when I get home from work according to Amazon..... As for whether Harry dies or not, I would guess that he lives because if he dies, Voldy wins and that would be a bit of a letdown after 7 books...

Actually, she said it may be more than 2 people that die. She even referred to it as a "bloodbath" in one interview. I still have a theory that either Ron or Hermione dies, and Ginny. I don't want Harry to die though
I have no idea and have refused to speculate on who gets the ax
I have to believe that it will not be Harry tho because that would mean that "he who must not be named" would win
Not necessarily.....there is a rumor that Harry's body is really a Horcrux for Voldemort, so that Harry MUST die in order to really destroy Voldemort.....that would be two who die....would really be a bummer of a way to end the series though.....
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches....Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies....And the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not.... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...."
-- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
I think you may have something with the "Harry as Horcrux" theory...
Saw the new movie last night....PoA is still my favorite movie I think but this one was good. Probably my second fave movie at least on first impression. But yeah, I am thinking that the Horcrux thing might have merit, especially with the ending of OoP fresh in my mind.....
so I'm still rereading, on the Order of the Phoenix. Going to use Audiobooks to ensure I can get through the last two before Friday but it's going to be VERY close.
I just got to the part in OotP where they are cleaning and Sirius is talking about the tapestry and Kreacher. Kreacher doesn't listen to Tonks, even though she's Sirius' cousin, who's mother married a muggle and was dismissed from the family. Kreacher is supposed to obey family members.
Draco and the Malfoy's are on that tapestry. I don't remember what happens with Kreacher in OotP and beyond...if it doesn't happen in OotP, it's going to come up sometime.

Oooh, yes. I actually wandered over to Inforoo after being away for a while in hopes there'd be some HP fans stirring, and when I saw "Harry Potter" as the last post in The Other Tent, I had a grin, well, quite similar to the smiley on the post, haha.
I'm a Harry Potter freak. I spend most of my days as a normal person, but when a new book is on the horizon and I get into my re-reading and discussing and anticipation like whoahoho, I'm in full-on OBSSESSION mode. This is similar to my Harry Potter Withdrawl Mode, which inevitably comes at the end of every new book (there's usually lots of re-reading and movie-watching then too, just to get my hands on some harry). I cannot even imagine what that's going to be like this time around, having it be the long-awaited Final Book. All I know is when I finish it I'll need to be safely shut in my room where I can sob gratuitously.
But anyway, as far as death speculations, I, like Meg, don't really like to get in to theorizing and predicting. I lovelove to discuss all things Harry, but I don't get too much into bonified theories--I want to be surprised. However, I've had Harry-is-a-Horcrux floating around in my mind since I finished the 6th the first time, though I havent thought about the details about that tootoo much. I really don't want Harry to die, and simply CANNOT see her killing him and having Voldemort live--if anything, they'd both have to die. Even though I'll be the first to say HP is FAR more than a "children's series" it would just seem like too much to have books originally geared towards kids end with both the death of the hero and the triumph of evil, you know?
Any theories on R.A.B? I'm pretty firm in my belief that its Regulus Black, though I've got some re-reading to do on that one. However, I became even more convinced the other day when I heard it matches up in other languages-- ie, however you say "Regulus Black," the corresponding initials are changed in the note found in the alleged Horcrux. I also read a really great interview on Mugglenet (see? freak.) they got to do with JK herself in Scotland 2 summers ago after HBP came out, and she starts drumming her fingers on her coke can suspiciously when they mention the Regulus theory. Hmmm.
Oh man, I can't wait though. I'm doing the midnight thing for the first time. When the 5th came out, I was VERY into Harry, but apparently not enough to get it RIGHT when it came out, for whatever reason I got it a couple days later on sale at Borders or something. Huh. And then for the 6th I had to be in bed early that night as I had a swim meet verryyyy early the next AM, but my best friend picked me up the book and dropped it off at my house anyway (made for a very/shocked/confused/hilarious mom the next morning when she saw it on my desk! haha.) But yeah, this year I'll be off to an awesome local bookstore for midnight festivities (it's already been pre-ordered, don't worry), then holing up in my house with it all night. Bahhh. Can't. Wait. !!!!!
I was so happy to see that Amazon was doing same day delivery again!! I think they did it for Goblet of Fire - I took advantage of that...it was awesome not having to fight the crowds and having Mr FedEx man bring me the new book right to my door the day it was released
Last year I was in line at midnight with the masses to get my hands on it ASAP....started reading it as soon as I got home, intended to finished it in one fell swoop but it was SOOO GOOD I wanted to make it last.....so I rationed it! And absolutely BANNED my friends from talking about it till I had finished it. Of course all of them had it read by the end of the weekend....and were all hyper about wanting to "discuss it"! I made it last a week..... This year Amazon is doing the Sat delivery thing again...and has it about as cheap as anyone else...but I will be out of town when the book drops so it wouldn't do me any good to take advantage of it...sigh....guess I'll either just grab a copy while I'm in Atlanta (I'm sure there will be plenty of extra copies laying around) or wait and hit one of the bookstores here when I get back in town....don't see me reading much while I'm in Atlanta - way too many other things to do! Guess I'll have to ban my friends from discussing again for at least a week - LOL!

gahhh! SO soon i cant take it!!!
apparently the new york times got a copy from an "unnamed bookstore" and published a review. i highly advise against reading it, however, as its alleged to contain many major spoilers. i think its pretty lame and tactless for them to do--the entire world has been waiting years for this book, couldn't you guys wait a couple more days? what's stopping somebody from accidently turning to the review and their eyes from wandering to a spolier? i understand book/movie reviews usually come out a couple days before the actual thing in question, but come on, this is different.
but seriously, can friday at midnight get here already?

!!!!!!!!!!!!
ACCCK! The New York Times??? Published Spoilers of the LAST Harry Potter??? I am....disgusted. As a journalist (at least by training if not by current trade) I cannot believe that an institution like the NYT would do that....I mean this is one of the MAJOR EVENTS in the publishing world...of which they are a part....and they would run SPOILERS? How tacky....I am not amused or impressed...this is not a "GET"....this is a "-" in my book....

I saw a blurb about it on the news and changed trhe channel - I want no spoilers
am I bad for this: My daughter has been awaiting Friday - but it seems - she has now forgotten about it - she goes to her dad's tomorrow - I have not mentioned it and will not - because she knows I will let her stay hom on Friday to go get the book - but I am gonig to get it on Saturday morning.

I would say no, you're not bad for that. If she forgets about it, it is totally her fault and by the time she realizes she forgot about it on Saturday you'll have already gotten it so all will be well in the world again
All i wanted to do was notbe spoiled by the last book. Being an internet junkie like i am, i figured as many places i visit on a daily basis, one would spoil me, and everytime i see or hear anything Happy Potter, i try and avoid it. Well, Yesterday, on Myspace, there was a bulletin from a friend i know, but dont really talk or hang out with, more of an old school/neighborhood friend. Well, he posted a bulletin, with the title 'New Harry Potter!!!' He has been freaking and posting excited bulletins about seeing the movie, so i figure he saw it, and he was excited and posted a bulletin.
I was wronged.
The first line spoiled the deaths of the book. Apparently had it spoiled for him on the radio yesterday morning, and was pissed, so he decided to do it to other people. Most Dick move i can recall as of the late. So, i replied to him, just a simple 'Not Cool', and removed him from my friends list. His bulletins were weird and annoying anyway. I also sent out a bulletin to everyone on my friends list who might be friends with him to not open the bulletin.
So now i know who died. Im hoping it was wrong, just because im upset i was spoiled. But if the spoiler was right, then i guess what i have to look forward to is seeing how it happened. After all, the glass is half full.
If anyone wants to know, ill tell you after 1 'You sure'.
I gotta admit - I am way curious - but not curious enough to want to know. I will find out when I read the book this weekend - I think that will be my task for Saturday - is to do nothing but read - I even started all the normal Saturday chores last night so that I would have nothing to do
