I'll keep my fingers crossed that he doesnt have to be admitted but I think there's a fairly good chance that he may. then again depends on other symptoms, such as joint aches or swelling etc that may be present. maybe its just a severe contact dermatitis/allergic reaction and they can load him up with a liter of fluid/pepcid/benadryl or hydralazine and some decadron. if thats the case he would turn the corner pretty quick after all that.

Indeed it is. He has avoided the doc for 2 weeks now but he can't any longer. He is in remission from a really bad episode he had when he was 16.... drug induced coma for a week, in the hospital for 2 months and rehab for another 6 months. Then he was on his mom's insurance and the bills still cost upwards of $1.5 million.
The rash is spreading pretty rapidly. He has some other symptoms such as headaches and body aches, but no fever. I don't know enough about his disease to even speculate, but I am crossing my fingers it's just a rash.
I don't mind mild references to religion or prayer, as I respect a variety of beliefs. but wall to wall evangelism during a medical office visit is over the top. I don't care if the person has a valid DSM-IV diagnosis or not.
oh well, she's gone, I'm off for the afternoon and its a memory now as long as she's not waiting for me in the parking lot with a sharp knife in one hand and Bible in the other....
any autoimmune disease sort of predisposes you to others, so yes, he could potentially have both. the body aches are not a good sign in my opinion. but we will continue to hope for the best.
In the meantime, the longer he delays treatment, the more treatment that he ultimately is likely to need - therefore more cost and more risk.
Wegener's is more of a vasculitis or autoimmune condition of blood vessels. It can affect most any part of the body but kidneys and lungs most at risk. IF your friend was diagnosed with this awhile back he probably should have been on immunosuppressant therapy for maintenance, but of course he's been uninsured.
thoughts with you both for a good outcome.Dont delay further getting him to a GOOD hospital, not just some rural outlying facility with <100 beds (not sure exactly where you are).
Thanks zenfnp! We're going to the Vanderbilt ER. That's where he had treatment during his first round when he was 16, so hopefully they will still have his medical records.

This is the last weekend I have off (other than Roo) until after Labor Day. My kiddo is spending the night with a friend, which means I am free to do whatever I want till tomorrow afternoon. What sucks is I am WAY too sick to even think about doing anything! Just my freaking luck!!!

Wrap a fist sized chunk of vaseline in saran wrap and throw it back on their windshield. I find this usually sends the correct message.
^^^ yeah Jess, but I'm rather klutzy and would be afraid I would get covered in vaseline myself in the process (I'm not kidding). otherwise a great idea. Maybe a supersoaker or some sort of toy gun loaded with vaseline instead of water?

So, I just got home from work and my gross careless inconsiderate immature idiot roommate is nowhere to be found (as usual, he's rarely here thank god,) but for some unknown reason...
Both my kitchen floor and the entire bathroom were COVERED in talcum powder ??? like the container exploded or something???
So, completely exasperated by this situation, I had no choice but to sweep it all up, but now the air in my apartment is full of powder and it REEKS and I am breathing it and I can taste it all over my mouth and it's in my eyes I keep sneezing and it is awful.

grrrr to 4 year olds. I did what he wanted to do all day. We went to buy water guns, we went swimming, we played baseball and basketball. All i wanted to do all day was watched my friends play their last show before two of them leave for a cross country bike ride. They start playing and he starts crying. We're now at home and I didn't even get to say good bye. ahhh the joys of parenthood.

So, my purse got stolen today, My driver's license, debit/credit cards, ipod, keys, and most importantly, to myself at least, my camera. I have to drive to North Carolina in a week to get my Bonnaroo stuff ready. I JUST bought my ticket and now I am considering not going. Given the luck I've been having I'm pretty sure my car would break down on the way to NC...or roo'. sigh.
^^^ I'm so sorry....I've been in that situation and its no fun at all. Please come to Roo though! Otherwise the scumbag piece of crap thief can claim a complete victory....coming to Roo is your way to thumb your nose at him/her.
I bought 2 Bonnaroo tickets on eBay last week. The tickets were never sent so I send the guy three emails through eBay over the past three days and he never responded. I finally decided to email him directly and he finally replies and tells me that he forgot that he put the tickets on eBay and that he already sold them to someone else. He's going to refund me my money. How can you forget that you put something on eBay? GRRR!

that is totally messed up and irresponsible. what a moron this guy is. you should go through the proper channels with ebay to give him negative feedback, file a complaint, etc. can't you still buy tickets somehow?

I hate airlines. Right now, I especially hate United Airlines. I had a 5:15 flight to Fresno (a godforsaken hell-hole) from San Francisco. On the way to the airport, I get a recorded message that my flight has been "affected by a cancellation" and now I'm on the 7:20 flight. So I chill for a while in the city and then resume heading to the airport. When I get there, it turns out that "affected by a cancellation" is not the same thing as "cancelled." The flight left late, but it left. Now the flight they booted me onto is late. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

AT&T sucks - I have now been on hold for 45 min - talked to one customer service rep who really could not help me so she transferred me - and all just to upgrade a phone for my daughter because all the iPhone 4 pre-order crap has the website screwed up.
I'd love to give up - but she saved the money for th phone she wants and it's was cheaper online than in the store and they better give me the same price on the phone! It's not my fault they were not prepared for the onslaught of pre-orders
grrrr - our AC just died - the only good thing is we have a home warranty but last time it took 4 days for us to get a service guy out - it was the hottest day of the year and tomorrow is not supposed to be any better
