Oh no... you're goin' in estrogenless
It'll be OK... you'll have her number right?
While she won't be "there", she will be "here". She will be sedated and wearing ear-plugs. As far as she goes, we just have to not wake her up. We both agree that Michael will be better off experiencing this with me and me alone. ....And Hilari tends to agree with me on voyage-worthy material. That's why I'm asking you folks for input. On Nov. 21st, you guys can play The Log Lady by helping to guide our trip.
This may sound boring and uncreative and it is entirely inspired by a book im almost finished with and that i have posted a little about in the Daniel Johnston thread. I wish i had met lucy this way for the first time but i've actually never tried this personally. The book is "Concousness and the mysery of death" by Stanislov Groff. I'd recomend you to keep a clear head yourself and just be a guide/shaman. Introduce him and have him lay down with his eyes closed and his eyes covererd for the entire experience, also have headphones on him, with music that is lacking any lyrics. Design the soundrack for his experience and keep in mind lucy's up and down affect. tortoise comes to mind as being almost perfect, also clasical selections motzart ect. The point to this process is to keep the experience internal and experience her in her purest form. If he could read this book before the meeting.. er at least parts of it i think it'd prepare him very well. If he doesent read this book, i think you should at least make sure he has as deep of an understanding as possible of her and her effects before the meeting. ahem.. There is also something to be said for sailing off into the great unknown and just winging it, which is how i met lucy. There is a Disney movie that ill never forget called "Fern Gully", Ill never forget that night. Have fun, and good luck.
ps. something i used to always do when me and lucy were dating reguarly is to write myself a letter before i got started, just in case things went bad, to kinda bring me back down to earth.

I don't know what to say but "EXACTLY"! I think that you may get "it" in ways that only I (and a select few) get! Mad karma is coming your way, my friend!

^^I've been hanging with Lucy before and at one point during the journey i was blindfolded for similar reasons and I can honestly say I've never been so scared in my life. I don't know what it was, but the lack of light/vision scared me shitless.

Random side note:
Once (in '96) I visited LUCY (X15), had my roommate handcuff, duct tape my limbs, lock me in a closet with a strobe light and leave me for the the night.
Scared? Mesmerized? Enamored? Horrified? Enlightened? Amused? Yep!...BUt IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE I"VE EVER HAD!

some possibles movies for ya..... City of God (it's in subtitles, but it's fantastic, about kids growing up in the slums of Brazil) Requiem for a Dream
I firmly believe that I can handle absolutely anything now....and I am grateful!
whew... yeah, you can handle it
I prefer my "moments" to be a little less intense... lol
You might've read about me losing The Chaz and Chick during The Killers at Echo... THE SOUND!!!
It was so loud it was rumbling my innards. The band kept switching from "Sam's Town" songs (fairly unfamiliar) to "Hot Fuss" songs (very familiar)... it left me feeling uneasy... I couldn't get over it... the SOUND was becoming bad, too much... I had to get away because I knew I had to address this... SOUND as an enemy isn't good if you want to enjoy a music fest... so I went back to the sandy area with the little houses and sat down... I listened to the SOUND, not the music, just SOUND... it was overwhelming... my fragile mental status was going bad, and I knew it.
but alyroo is a pro.
those few minutes of becoming at peace with the SOUND was great. Eyes closed... swirling in it... enveloped by it... it was warm and colorful (oranges, pinks, purples)... it was everything...
when i finally opened my eyes the lights were blinding, it was good, I was drawn back into the SOUND, it wanted me back... I went back into the SOUND better, stronger... the SOUND welcomed me back...

This also happened in a few of the cases described in the book and its completly understandable for someone to feel that way but the doctor unforcfully and gently encouraged the subject to continue and face whatever they came up against. I think facing "it" eventually lead to a strong sense of self reliance and inner strength and eventually rapture and a sense of extreme power. He also talkes alot about the experience of death and rebirth and how that has existed in religions, Greek mythology, just about every spiritual teaching that has ever existed and how it can be a life changing event. His ideas about how the trauma of actual birth stays with a person and is imprinted on their psyche is kinda controversial and not widely accepted but he has a convincing argument. Its an extremely interesting subject....
p.s also i think i should note that these patients were terminally ill, many of them dying a few days or weeks after their encounter with her. They're stories and they're courage really inspire me.
I have to really reccomend Pink Floyd Meddle, Animals, and/or Atom Heart Mother to not necessarily SweetE's friends experience, but to anyone!!! After the Atom Heart Mother sweet and Echos, you will know the meaning of the word Vortex.
That said, I would also reccomend a movie to everyone.. a Russian co-worker and I randomly decided to watch this with Lucy on our laps, and wow.
Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine.
Yes, sounds strange, but this thriller/documentary is REALLY interesting, especially if you are into technology or chess or both. In short, its about the conspiracy that IBM's Deep Blue was actually being "helped" mid-game by real chess Grandmasters when it beat Garry Kasparov.
When a computer, or a computer such as Deep Blue, plays chess, its supposed to analyze the board and make the BEST POSSIBLE move. Always the best. What Deep Blue DID in game two was make the SECOND best move... This is what a grandmaster would do if he looked ahead 20 moves and saw that he could be in a better position..
IBM refused to release anything to Kasparov about the machines decision making process after the match.
Watch the movie, its really trippy

and the three most important rules: 1) you can not fly 2) fire hurts 3) before doing anything really cool... ask a relatively in control third party
I'd like to add one.
4) Don't look in the mirror unless you are absolutely mentally prepared for it... I would go so far as to cover the bathroom mirror with a towel and tape it on if a newbie was present. If you know what to expect, and you have glowsticks especially.. it can be really fun... but if you don't know whats up... this can go bad quickly
This one time back in college a friend and I were hanging with Lucy and we sat in the dark and listened to Jethro Tull - Aqualung (my choice) and Tool - Aenima (his choice). Of all of my experiences (and there are quite a few) this was one of the more memorable ones.
As most of you have figured out, I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, so I've got to throw it in there. But I haven't seen anyone mention The Wall yet. Watch The Wall. Even if you're not big Floyd fans, the movie is worth watching. The first time I saw it was my second time ever chillin' with Lucy. Wow. If you have never seen it, this is the state to do it in. It's pretty intense, but I don't doubt that you can handle it.
If there was any way to transport you through the space-time continuum to the glowstick war during Harry Hood at The Great Went, I would recommend that too.

I actually can't stop myself from doing that... I get some kind of crazy rush... you gotta be real careful though, a time or two it almost pulled me into it and I barely broke free... and our friend Alice aside... I suspect that might not end up too cool
"I think psychedelics play a major part in what we do, but having said that, I feel that if somebody's going to experiment with those things they really need to educate themselves about them. People just taking the chemicals and diving in without having any kind of preparation about what they're about to experience tend to have no frame of reference, so they're missing everything flying by and all these new perspectives. It's just a waste. They reach a little bit of spiritual enlightenment, but they end up going, 'Well, now I need that drug to get back there again.' The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug." -Maynard James Keenan

edit ***add miles davis "bitches brew" and "on the corner" and all the john coltrane you can get...that tests my occipital lobe and parietal lobe. blows away my temporal lobe.
candy and lighted toys are always a pleaser, bust little things out every hour or so to keep the vibe changing. a latenite walk after things start being less freaky always seems to ease me back into reality nicely. TV and movies kind of freak me out when in that state.

hrmmm... never having met lucy myself, my advice, clearly, is limited. from my experiences with a similar fungus, i would recommend the following: a limited selection of trance/techno, if you think there's even a remote possibility he'd like it ( i am not a fan of techno but greatly enjoyed the song Trance and Acid while trippin), Rusted Root is fun and interactive with nature. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Where the Buffalo Roam are both good background movies. I would recommend the "Spiritchaser" Dead Can Dance album to anyone looking to expand their mind. it doesn't really fit any genre, but it's just all around good times

Its been ages since I've seen Lucy. Really, many on this board are younger than the last time I saw Lucy. Nonetheless, I am aligned with many of the suggestions here in particular the Floyd and Beatles references and most definitely the Pet Sounds, Miles and Coltrane. What's been missing from the list?
Their Satanic Majesties Request - The Rolling Stones The Mothers of Invention Firesign Theatre Cheech & Chong (Movies and recordings) Beatles White Alblum, Magical Mystery Tour, Revolver For mellowing out - Iron and Wine, Hot Tuna's Water song
