Finally got a copy of Contraband. This is the film Lucio Fulci made after walking out of the Godfather and thinking "That was okay but it needed more gore and a rape scene." It actually kinda rules once you get past the sleaze. Made in the middle of his hot streak of horror classics and it's just as dark and seedy as any of them. Great ending. Dark, depressing. Everyone walks away scarred and Naples is no better off.
this is goddamn insanity. Just for all the obvious reasons. But I just gotta remind people that Iran is one of the 100% documented cases of the CIA overthrowing a government in favor of a fucking puppet. More for the Brits than ourselves… or so the story goes. Fuck our fucking clown ass media.
We love our ideals folks. We love them. Love to spread them. .
watched society yesterday, knowing nothing about it going in. one of the most bonkers things i've ever seen. definitely felt like a SupeЯfuЯЯyanimal approved movie. going to see barbarian tonight!
I picked it, or had it on my list, for the film festival draft. To go with my theme of the elites living off of the working class. lol It is a weird one.
Pretty sure it's in the law somewhere that it's ok to do human trafficking if it's for a bit. Cruz is a great legal mind. He would never do something unless he knew it was above board.
It’s great how they don’t consider how cruel and reckless it is. Their moron audience doesn’t care either.
Then this great legal mind makes an absurd statement about Biden that makes zero sense.

Almost time! I've got a wild collection of movies to marathon this year and I'm gonna relax and watch them all. Need a break from life.
Going to get my little nephew to watch the worst of them. muahahaha
Edit: just thinking that I've watched like 20 giallos this Summer and I'm all "time to marathon some crazy horror stuff, guys".
I will go ahead and add Delirium(1972) to my recommendations. Almost certainly the craziest movie I've watched in a couple years. It's everything great about sleazy Italian stuff. Nonsensical plot; overwrought acting; boobs; boobs touching other boobs; hilarious dream sequences. It's not quite Pieces entertaining but if you try really hard to make sense of it you'll be rewarded.

I realize there are plenty of actual reasons we need protections for religious groups. Having said that, I wouldn’t give the first fuck if the vast majority of people who make arguments including “violating muh religious beliefs” died in a gas fire.
In fact, I’d consider it a step in the right direction for humanity.

Creature features all need to be set in a boarding school full of twentysomething hot Germans that hang around the pool all day. That seems to be it's only purpose.
Also, The Witcher is fun as fuck. As much rather watch it then some of the garbage self-serious shit they put out as prestige TV now.
thank you for saying this. sometimes i feel like a lowbrow simpleton stanning for shows like The Witcher or The Orville or Reacher, but I also think TV should be fun, and not every show has to be Mad Men.
having said that Mad Men was consistently hilarious and fun as hell.
a lot of “highbrow” stuff is for nerds that like to sniff their own farts. I say this as a person that owns the Criterion box set of Bergman. But he actually is highbrow tho.

Although it should be said Jackson was legally bound to stay within just what was in the rights for LOTR and The Hobbit. A lot of Tolkien’s stories doesn’t fit into that. Same is true for the show but it can at least expand over a much larger time period and base of characters.
If you watch the extras on Desolation of Smaug, Jackson just knew he didn't have time to film the battle of the five armies for the film, they were already super behind schedule. It was something like just a few months before Smaug was released that they decided to make a part 3. Those extras on The Hobbit films are pretty depressing. You could tell Jackson was just so over it.
But he’s partly to blame for pulling in all the extras from LOTR. Nobody was dying to see Gandolf search for the Necromancer. I was excited they were pulling some of that in but In the end it wasn’t worth doing entire plot lines based on simple backstory. There really wasn’t much of a dramatic arch to sink in to.
Also, The Witcher is fun as fuck. I’d much rather watch it than some of the garbage self-serious shit they put out as prestige TV now.

I’ve gotten to where I hate fan culture so much I half want to avoid this totally.
I’ll watch it with an open mind. Could be quite good. There’s a reason this stuff if essentially appendices. They can’t really “ruin it” all that much. Just depends on if the writing can tie it all together into a cohesive story with characters you’re attached to.
I feel like Amazon made The Wheel of Time enjoyable. So maybe they can work more magic here.
