have y'all heard this fuckin Who Me? bobby moynihan batmin podcast. this is so funny.
Yeah, it's great and Bobby/Brett(alfred) seem to have a great time recording it. They're always cracking up. It's especially interesting when they get someone who either knows their batman lore OR has actually done something in the Batman/DC Universe.
I always enjoy the show and hope it can keep on going.

We get new threesome AND a Leap Day special with the TimeKeeper today. It's truly a leap day miracle.
Only downside is threesome seems to have been recording and banking ge episodes so we won't get to see their takes on current events but it's still great they're back. The Kulap/hospital story Scott tells is hilarious
Anyone got a recommendation for a narrative podcast of a decent length, 4-8 hours? S-Town is the comp I'm looking for, but it can be about anything. I've got an 9 hour each way drive coming up this weekend, totally solo

Whistleblower, the pod about Tim Donaghy and the NBA officiating scandals, was pretty dece.

so i missed this, but next time you'd like a narrative podcast, one of those things that is about a topic you don't think is interesting but actually is fascinating. It was an eight episode run of the Articles of Interest podcast on American Ivy, or why this particular "trend" keeps coming back again and again. In a lot of ways it basically tells the story of W. David Marx's book "Ametora" but in podcast form, basically how the japanese saved, preserved, and enhanced the American Ivy tradition.
the host, Avery Trufelman, absolutely rules, and is perfect for this part as someone who is skeptical of what American Ivy represents on the surface, but like a lot of things once you dig in it's a lot more complex than what it looks like on the surface.
I'm a few episodes behind but the last few I've been listening to have been pretty solid. They definitely had some good ones at the end of the year last year around the holidays but if you haven't been listening much the last couple months have some good eps.
They recently got back into the studio (as you can see in the pic) after some more time doing some zoom, some mixed, and other junk. And they have finished the new studio at Headgum so they have had a chance to play around there so far.
The Gareth Reynolds one is good and pairs well with the recent Jake Johnson episode because it's Jake's podcast co-host on a show that they "stole" Kevin to. So Kevin, the boys main producer, now has a "bigger" show with bigger name Jake Johnson and both episodes of HH featuring the hosts were fun.
Zach Cherry was also a fun episode which was semi-normal if you can call it that. Basically there are other episodes recently that were really great but also kind of reward knowing the previous iterations (like the Shaun Diston/Brett episode, Clea Duvall/Tony Hale episode, Dominic Dierkes and Scuzzman episode, and Joe Mande episode).
The Joe Mande one is hilarious even if you haven't heard the others but it's rewarding knowing where they are going after hearing other versions of it before. Just go in knowing that the bit is they bring in Joe Mande and then play some footage from whatever his most recent standup special is and the boys critique it. But they never are actually playing a Joe Mande special so they just play someone else's comedy and force Joe to defend his writing and jokes, explain the thought process behind them, etc. This most recent outing was them playing the Jo Koy bomb at that awards show. Very funny gimmick they've done a couple of times.

Bonus room episode of Neighborhood Listen where they do the podcast as Mitch McNutt and others. This is a few years in the making haha. Love how they've hated Mitch so much on the show and now we get his view
hollywood handbook, an insider's guide to kicking butt and dropping names in the red-carpet-lined back hallways of this industry we call showbiz.
it's a long running podcast with a fiercely loyal following and layers and layers and layers of inside jokes. can make it hard for a new listener to understand what the hell is going on.
the basic conceit of the podcast is the two hosts sean and hayes are hollywood insiders who are completely out of touch and stuck up their own asses (the reality is they are young-ish TV comedy writers who have written on some great shows). sometimes the guests don't get it and it feels a little eric andre-ish, but i think more frequently the guests know what they are getting into and adapt their own hollywood personas or choose to be combative with sean and hayes.
it is really funny. took me a while to get into the flow of it but i listen to old episodes now here and there.
i was particularly excited to see zach woods since he is a top tier improviser and i knew it would be a fun episode. it was.

Newcomers dropped a new episode and new season (no wait??? AMazing) and it seems like they're doing the filmography of Martin Scorsese. First episode is Taxi Driver.
Fantastic. I have been thinking recently about trying to do a run of directors films from beginning to end so I can use this as an excuse to kill two birds with one stone.

Theyre only doing 10 films of his, loved the episode this week, even if Stanger got mansplainy about Marty.

Planning on doing the same thing. I pretty much do this with blank check episodes and it’s great
