Y'all didn't seem to love the Rostam album, but I'm totally digging it. It's crept into my Top 3 so far. I do agree that it's a poor man's Vampire Weekend.
One thing that does make me a little worried, however, is how much will his departure change the overall sound of VW? Listening to a track like "Wood" makes me fear that VW is going to lose a lot of their signature sound without him.
Well the impression I got when he initially left was that he'd still have a heavy hand on at least their next album. But yeah, even if that's the case it's pretty inevitable that their music takes a hit without him involved
This Cut Copy album is a blast. Probably top 10 of what I've listened to so far, but this month is tough; there's been a lot of great stuff, but no huge standouts for me

I wasn't blown away by it, but Wood was definitely my favorite.

Not sure if it's a recent trend or I'm just now noticing it, but there are far too many artists thinking they have the material for a 60+ minute album. Definitely plays into my last point about not being blown away by many albums lately. A lot impress me early on and then go on past the point they need to

This how I felt about the new War on Drugs album—a sentiment shared by many on this board. The first few tracks blow me away, but eventually the album starts to bleed together and lose its momentum.

I remember taking a recording class in college and the professor told us that if he's producing an album and the artist starts to push it long he reminds them that Dark Side of the Moon is only 43 minutes

James Blake's The Colour in Anything was one of the greatest albums of 2016, and definitely has some of my favorite tracks of the year. I can't for the life of me remember listening to it from beginning to end ever. It's so damn long.

I think ~40 minutes is an optimum length for an album. After that, I find myself looking at Apple Music/Spotify to see how many tracks are left in that particular album.

I love long albums/long songs. But I agree some albums are pointlessly too long. That James Blake is a good example.
Oh for sure, there are some incredible long albums. And when an artist can pull off an album that passes the 70 minute mark it makes it all the more impressive for me
