well... I personally was hoping that OSU would put up a better fight, but hey... it was an entertaining game to watch, and LSU proved themselves worthy of being #1 in my opinion... congrats LSU

I was happy to see LSU win as I thought they were the better team overall. I wish they would have been playing USC or Georgia, probably would have been an even closer game.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
Wow, I wished I could have afforded tickets, but simply being in the city and feeling the electricity that was there was amazing. I had such a good time last night, and I'm so happy for the Tigers. I TIVO'ed the game back up at my house in Baton Rouge so that I can re-watch the game. Drinking in New Orleans takes its toll on you. I've got 8 months to revel in the glory of being a National Champion. First school to win 2 BCS titles, first BCS champion with 2 losses.
LSU! Gosh, like nola said, wish I could've been there at the game. It always sucks to know that you are so close to such an event, yet you still can't go. Anyways, I love my LSU Tigers and am so glad that they one. I think that it's gonna make my whole week good!
I do have perspective, I am a life long OSU fan...........still proud of my bucks, even wore my OSU shirt into work today. Cangrats to the Tigers.....wonder who we will play next year in the Title game? ;D

I surely don't think anyone is gonna put a Big Ten school in the title game for at least 2 years. Just my two cents.

My latest gripe with college football... how the effin hell is Florida ranked above Michigan in the recent AP Poll when Michigan just beat Florida in their bowl game??? I don't give two-shits who Michigan lost to the first game of the year... what matters in post-season polls is how you end it. Florida and Michigan definitely should be switched I think.
This could just be my Big 10 bias here... but I feel like it's a valid point atleast
Very good point. It's stupid sometimes man. Earlier on the year, Virginia Tech was ranked ahead of LSU even after LSU's 49-7 beatdown of the Hokies. Obviously at the end it didn't matter, but whatever. You are totally right in saying they should be switched because Michigan did just beat them. My guess as to why..........poll voters are looking ahead to next year. With all the talent that Michigan is losing, they are looking forward to next year. Most people think that Florida is a consensus top 3 team for next year. Simply my opinion though. Until next year..............LSU '08 National Champs..............feels so good to say that.

Plus Illinois is ahead of UM in the coaches poll.
On the other hand, UM is ahead of Wisconsin and Oregon, who both beat UM and have the same record.
There's no perfect way to do it. With so many teams playing each other there's always going to be situations like this. I really don't have a problem with Florida being ahead of UM anyway. If you look at their entire body of work (who they beat, who they lost to) it's definitely more impressive. Michigan beat them, but I don't think they were the better team in 2007....if healthy all year, it's a different story of course.
Oh, and Illinois being ahead of Michigan is retarded. UM won @ ILL and ILL got clobbered in their bowl game. Retarded.
^^Yea I heard about that yesterday. ESPN reported that the president of Georgia was advocating and pushing or a playoff system. While I think it would be a great idea, it simply won't happen. There are too many contracts and too much money involved in the current bowl system. There is just too much involved to go ahead and make this drastic of a change. I think the best system that actually has a chance of making it would be a "plus-one" system. This calls for one extra game at the end of the season. For example this year it would most likely be LSU vs. either Georgia or USC. One more game to decide a champion. While this system is certainly better, it would still leave one team out, depending on the year possibly two. There will always be someone who feels like they were slighted.
i don't know how the month off effects teams, but VT should destroy Kansas man... there will be no excuses if they don't. My wife is a hokie, i'm a fokie... we'll be watching the game and playing some poker tonight...
GO HOKIES!
If Kansas shows up to play, they have a chance to win I really believe.
And I hope you (or your wife) doesn't take offense to me hating VT athletics. It's more of a personal thing, ya see. In Roanoke, where I'm from - 45 min from Blacksburg - all I hear about are hokie praises. But last year my college (James Madison) played them in basketball. Now, we're a small school that is known for dominating I-AA football (until App. St. came around....) but either way, we're not a bball school at all. VT came and just knocked us around silly on the court as was expected, and I'm not mad about that. What I'm mad about is the disrespect the VT players showed the JMU faithful for showing up to the game still supporting the team even in an obvious defeat.
Oh yeah, I'm also pissed that they vandalized our locker room and wrote on the wall that our mascot was "gay"
Real mature
No worries mate... i think hokie fans are generally pretty great, personally, they stick by their team more than redskins fans ;-)
Also, i strongly doubt the players were the ones who vandalized the locker room... it was probably some idiotic, hokie fans ... i didn't say they were all great, but i generally like them as a whole.
Lastly, i don't hate Duke Dog, but I remember giving my friend at CNU so much crap when they're siblings went to JMU.
either way, they didn't show up to the kansas game...

But what happens if there is a clear cut #1 and 2, they play each other, one team wins, then they have to beat a one loss team to win the championship. That scenario is almost worse that what we have now.

I really think, and I havent' given a whole lot of time to think about this, If they have a system like the NFL. The Top Two teams at the end of the year, Which would have been LSU/OSU, Get a bye. Then just play the bowl games as a tournament style. The winners play out....Till there's a champ.
Or (if you did the math then, w/ using the BCS games , we would have ended up w/ un even amount of teams) so this mean the regular season could still be huge...They could give the top 2 teams two bye games by default for being the best in regular season and make the other teams play it out... until the semi finals on each side...
Corned rambling, gotta love them. I'm sure the people actually in charge can figure out a better system to actually grant the best team at the end of the season...thats why NCAA BBall is so interesting...The small teams at the end of the year.
I mean who wouldnt have wanted to see Kansas vs. W. VA. or USC vs Georgia.....

I would like something kind of similar to what you have, just not as big. I agree with you that the top two teams should have an advantage, so I'd want a 6 team tournament with #1 and 2 getting a bye. No conference tie ins, pick and seed the teams with a panel using the BCS formula as a tool like they use RPI to help pick the tournament teams in basketball.

It was definitely an interesting football season... it looked to be a curse almost if you were a top 10 playing an unranked team... I was glad to see the SEC win the title but haven't agreed with the BCS for awhile now (Auburn 13-0 - 2004) Go Tigers
