And illegal - a shot that goes over the backboard should be ruled out of bounds. I was really dissapointed with how that UCLA game ended - I felt like the refs really handed it to em, first with the foul no-call and then that final shot.
the no-call i felt was ok. its absolutely horrid when a game is decided by a questionable call, and i'm not so sure it was a blatant foul(i could be wrong).
as for the backboard shot...i was wondering about that too. however, he wasn't out of bounds, and it didn't actually touch the backboard. is there already a rule in place that says you can't make that shot? i know if it bounces over the back of the backboard its blown dead, but if he's not out of bounds, and he doesn't hit the backboard...i dunno
NCAA Rule 7, Section 1, Article 3 states “The ball shall be out of bounds when it passes over the backboard from any direction.”
Another exciting week begins! My tourney picks (major conferrence tourneys):
ACC: UNC Big East: Notre Dame Big 10: Indiana Big 12: Kansas SEC: Mississippi St. Pac 10: USC
Is San Diego our Cinderella team this year? They have won their way into the Dance with the WCC championship defeating St. Mary's and Gonzaga. They played with a tremendous amount of heart.

Gonzaga is definitely in, as is San Diego due to auto bid. I don't know about St. Mary's though...they certainly have a stronger resume than some other bubble teams, but I don't know if the committee will put 3 WCC teams in the Dance.

ugh...i did about half of mine yesterday but i'm totally stumped on a few choices. considering the way the college football season went, anything could happen!
i think my aggies will make it out of the first round, but then we'll be up against ucla
We got 3 teams from Philly in the tourny. Temple, St. Joe's, and Villanova. I'd like to say my alma mater, Temple, will go the furthest, but I think Nova probably will.

I think Memphis is the most overrated team in the country. And I can't be mad at you for doing that, I have the Aggies losing in the 1st round.
the only reason i don't see them losing in the first round is because they step it up for games like the tourney. like how we came out and killed texas the first time around, or beat k-state this past weekend. we CAN beat teams like texas, but we have no consistency.
It's sad really, because I honestly don't hate the Aggies. But it seems like when they really need to step it up is when they lose the most. Look at the end of the season...they were doing really well until crunch time. I hate Tech and I DESPISE the Sooners, but I am ok with the Aggies, so I wouldn't mind seeing them win a game or two. Although they did eliminate my #2 team UofL last year in the tournament and they've won, what, 3 in a row against the Horns in football now so I am kinda starting to hate them.
I'll say that Louisville's a solid team, but if they make it past the Sooners, I HIGHLY doubt they'll make it past Tennessee. Bruce Pearl won't allow it.
A&M definitely will not beat UCLA. Shooting teams like Tenn, Duke, and Texas always have a chance to be upset, so those will be games to watch.
Texas runs an ISO offense, so it's a bit different than Duke or Tennessee. I don't see them going down before the Final Four unless they face a tough interior team like Pittsburgh in the Elite 8....

This is true, but they still rely heavily on their guard play.

well of course, i didnt mean to offend anyone.
And I have a feeling that me having Texas losing to Memphis is going to lose me 5 bucks....to ..myself
And i cant speak for A&M bc I havent seen them play but maybe one game all year.
P.S. does anyone remember hearing in the news a few years ago about how there was a girl that went to a&m that was thought to be kidnapped and after a few years of searching they pronounced her dead, but in 05' they finally found her working in a Sam's Club in Florence,KY? JW because that chick is one of my best friends, sisters' girlfriend...Apparently she ran away bc her parents didnt like her being a lesbian? kinda random but the news crew was all over the place at sam's trying to interview us...so i figured it coulda been a big story down there in Texas..

because the real Texas would never allow it

as for A&M in the tourney, if they're fired up, they'll make it to the second round and fall hard to ucla. we don't have a go-to guy the way we had in acie law, and no one has stepped up this year to try and fill the roll. even our 7ft'er looks like he just walks everywhere. we don't seem to have much heart or consistency, which leads me to believe there's a coaching issue.
