Been spending a lot of time at Iron Duke in Ludlow. Amazing small local brewery, with a great bar attached. Ever check them out LD ?
Holy crap, they have a coolship! Can't believe I haven't heard of them...I'm all about spontaneous fermentation. Have you had the coolship IPA? Do they have barrels? Upcoming sours? I must know! haha
Dave Maynar I had that Winter Saison from Blackberry Farms on New Years. Can you send me like a hundred more? It's so good!
Ha. I had never had that particular one. I bought it mostly off their proximity to Knoxville and their reputation for nailing saisons. Glad to see the choice worked out.
Anyone close to Athens, GA, should try to get their hands on the next Creature Comforts release. It is super good and they don't produce it very often. The release is January 17th at the brewery in Athens.
Our first collaboration with 7venth Sun Brewery, Southerly Love, will make its return this January. The limited offering will be re-released on draft and in 750mL bottles at the brewery in our Tasting Room.
Southerly Love is an American Wild Ale that comes in at 6.4% abv. The 2017 release of the beer features Idaho 7, Cascade and Crystal hops. The aroma is complex and full of ripe papaya, tangerine and a light, yeasty funk. The flavor is characterized by a balanced acidity and tropical fruit notes.
“We used a solid dose of funky, tropical and aromatic hops, both in the brewhouse and as a dry hop, to add complexity and intrigue to the beer,” said Adam Beauchamp, our Co-Founder and Brewmaster. “The result was a synthesis of yeast and hop flavors, melded into a balanced, cohesive and just plain delicious beer.”

Troegs Nugget Nectar has been out a little over a week, anyone gotten any yet? If there's a first squeeze event near you, go! They should have it on nitro at those events. I've heard mixed reviews but I'll try anything on nitro.
I've got a bottle of Goose Island's Bourbon County Rare from 2015 that a kinda sorta friend wants to trade or pay fer. I know he's got some good stuff, includin' the Evil Twin and Westbrook Imperial Mexican Biscotti Break, but I dunno. Anyone have thoughts?

Chill two mugs. Split first bottle between the two mugs. Toast your kinda sorta friend. Repeat with other two bottles. Now your just friends. No more kinda sorta.
I find his personality to be rather abrasive after he's had more than three (decent to high ABV) beers, so that's why we're "kinda sorta friends." Decent guy, with lots of beer knowledge, but he's a little to big fer his britches. He also comes through some rare beer as he's the GM of a local beer garden and we've done some trades before.
I just don't know what a "fair or equal" trade would even be fer BC Rare. I've got a regular BC from the same year too that I've been waitin' to tap into.

That's a top-tier whale for a lot of people so anything that you deem very difficult to get for yourself. Maybe not Cantillon or Westvleteren level but certainly something like Hunahpu.

Just impulse bought New Belgium VooDoo Ranger Imperial IPA because I hadn't seen it before. Not as piney as their description would indicate but that's okay, and I'm really enjoying it.
My brother in law said the Destihl raspberry Wild Sour in the mix I gave him for Christmas was maybe the sourest thing he's ever tasted. He's not a huge beer drinker (hates hops) but I think I've turned him on to sour beers. Sours are not for my palate I guess, as I haven't tried one that was really enjoyable.

Sours are definitely love or hate. I'm a big sour fan. I would recommend trying some belgian sours as they tend to be a bit more balanced. Boon's Mariage Parfait can be found pretty easily.

Thanks, I've heard that same advice once before and definitely want to try some Belgian sours. I've had Belgian beers before but nothing very sour. There's one store in town that has a huge selection, so I'll look for that one next time I'm there.
Revolution, Half Acre, Begyle, Pipeworks, DryHop off the top of my head. Also Lagunitas, but that one is not technically "Chicago", but has a brewery here.

This is good advice. Additionally, depending how much time you have and if you have access to a car, you can make the trek out to Munster, IN and check out 3 Floyds.
