You should hear what they say about the soundboard just because some friends like to be able to post in private without letting the whole world read it they act like we are sacrificing christian babies in a ceremonial bull statue dedicated to Gzorgathe the god of eternal suffering. I mean good lord it is not like being part of inforoo limits you to only one board.
Oh my! DEFINITELY NOT! I think MANY people on this board belong to SEVERAL message boards....and I think it's fine that some of you guys have another board that you formed to hang and talk and vent and what not...and I don't think anyone is trying to say otherwise. I'm just glad that it's finally able to be brought out and talked about and no one is trying to kept it all secret squirrel and all...I think THAT is the big thing....and no one should be punished for being curious about it and thinking..."hey...I wonder what's up with that?"
You guys do your thing over there....we do our thing over at VooDoo and all is cool....the only big diff is...VooDoo is an open board like InfoRoo...we welcome anyone to open an account, sign up and start posting and unless you do something MAJOR wrong you're a member and all is cool...over at the soundboard you guys have a bit more security as I understand and you keep things a bit more private and would prefer that peeps leave you to yourselves....however...the internet IS the internet...and links and google being what it IS...and word of mouth being what IT is...and people well...just being PEOPLE.... You ARE going to get some hits from people you didn't INVITE....that to me doesn't mean you can go around taking aim at people who show up on your doorstep and punishing them for just LOOKING....and that I KNOW has happened to at least ONE of my Inforoo buds here...and the appearance of it has happened to others that I have heard tell of...and THAT is NOT cool....so...you know...be kind to people that are curious and just tighten the hatches down over there if that's whatcha wanna do mmmK?
And THAT is all I have to say on THAT matter..... ;D
Well guess what I was one of the people who instigated this, my neighbors in VIP at Bonnaroo knew a lot more about me (including the fact that I had children) than I liked. So what we have a board where I can say personal stuff about myself. Secondly the reason we did not want to talk about was to try to avoid a "cool kids" exclusive attitude, and hurting feelings, it obviously to late for that now. You are right the internet is the internet so you can also set up a part of the internet that is password protected so unless one of your friends did something to try and get a password I can not imagine they got punished for looking, they could not have looked.
I am sorry you seem to feel that all aspects of my life should be put out in a public forum but it is not gonna happen. As to only inviting personal friends that's the way its gonna be, and as to sitting around listening to everyone insinuating that what we are doing is wrong I am done with that as well. Private means private, but since someone thinks it harms us to talk about it all the time I am happy to admit it exists, and I am a part of it.
I have never understood why people care that we have our own board, it is nothing against anyone on inforoo in particular just everyone on the internet in particular.

I am also curious why you think you need to have the right to talk about another board here on inforoo? I dont stalk you and bitch about what myspace groups or whatever else you are involved in that I am not.

I think totally you have the RIGHT to have a place like that TOTALLY! I totally support anyone's right to have a place like that...anyone has that right...I think there is just a HUGE HUGE misunderstanding...honestly!
The thing that I don't think is right...and that has caused all kinds of confusion and hurt feelings and gotten things all bent out of shape is HOW that was set up and the "security" measures that have been used...some of them a bit "strong armed" to say the least....
I think there are ways to do it and ways NOT to.....you guys seem to have a good thing going and that's cool...I have NO desire to rain on the proverbial parade and have never gone near it and have no intentions...not my thing really....
BUT...there are people who WILL be curious...you KNOW that..but if it IS passworded then...no worries...but when you try to find out WHO they are and then "punish" them...if they have any ties HERE...then that to me crosses then line cause how on EARTH out of the WHOLE WIDE WORLD of the internet would you KNOW who they were? If not for YOU guys having ties back through Inforoo yourselves? See...to me that is YOU guys abusing YOUR Inforoo connections...and well...that's just not cool in my book....if it's totally seperate...then..it's totally seperate in BOTH directions...see? That would be like me using Inforoo to find out if anyone is talking smack or doing anyting to InfoVooDoo..and that's just not ethical.....does that make sense?

A mod is a mod and has a right to moderate any board the way they please, you have the right not to use that board anymore if you cant stand the mods. If an inforoo mod decides to defuse a situation that is pissing off the board you have no recourse do you? That does not make it a conflict of interest, and if someone is trying to hack a private board there is nothing wrong with mods working hand and hand to catch that person either, as nobody on any board in this community wants their account broken into.
Also for instance if someone on inforoo creates a second account which is a violation of policy it might get guested, maybe it was something they said maybe it was two accounts who knows? It is not like the internet illuminati is out to get anyone though.

Not really sure what you are speaking to here....but....if it is the situation I am aware of...it was done ONLY on the basis of a duplicate IP address...which is NOT enough of a basis to assume a duplicate account...IP masking is a VERY common...and very LEGITIMATE business practice...and does NOT in and of itself constitute duplicate of user information. Maybe I do not have all the facts but....as I said....if they are seperate boards then....that should be ALL that is needed to be said on that account as far as I am concerned.....if it weren't for the overlap in mods...how WOULD you know?

Hmmm...guess I ought to tell the Army that our IP masking/aliasing/external mapping isn't working then...cause that is what we use to hide our "real" internal IP addresses from the external world....we us IP masking to expose IP address for all our external customers to use to FTP/send data to our computers that are not the IP address as our "real" internal IP addresses for the actual machine we use when communicating internally.....when done correctly IP masking/re-routing is EXTREMELY effective....and cannot be detected.....I will agree that not just any shareware/freeware/opensource IP masking database software you download is going to be unbreakable but there are ways.....if you know what you are doing.....
However mods are allowed to moderate however they please, accuse them of cronyism all you want, they will point out it is not against the rules. Personally I think this board is modded in a fair way that tries to keep most people happy.
Really though I just don't see the point in all this. I guess it was just to make sure everyone who cared to know knew. I wouldn't have done it that way I would have kept it private instead of being put in a position where I feel people might have a negative opinion of me because I did not invite them to another board. Which to a certain extent I have felt at least has been the reason behind all the recent attacks,so whoever was doing all that good job. You got me, I belong to two message boards one of which is private. At least maybe all this can be put to bed and I can use LRH's picture for an avatar again.

I just WISH...and HOPE...that you guys (and not even YOU Jess....I REALLY am glad we did this tonight REALLY! ;D) will just chill and if peeps are curious....let them be curious and then just let it go.....deny their requests and let it go...ignore the comments here and let it go...if someone brings someting up ....just let it die down naturally instead of whipping it into a frenzy and making more of it and making it worse than it is.....things will die down quickier...less will be made of it and it will get less attention over all which is what we ALL want.....don't gang up on US...we won't gang up on YOU ....no turf wars...no punishers....just all live in peace....everyone lives happily ever after....you guys can hang here...we don't WANT to hang there...(at least I don't)....and as long as the mods mod FAIR...and don't take out Soundboard issues on InfoRoo....then...alls Good no??? ;D

Also remember this board is public, I am a little curious what the army would say if they knew you were using high level security programs to scam a civilian message board? If you were implying that you were the one who had done such a thing and therefore there was no way a mod could have just caught you, not just laying out a for instance. I dont think you did it is just people who are able to really do things like that would not do it for this kind of reason, it is not worth getting caught doing it over message board drama.

Well I will make this easy for everyone then. There are no requests accepted only invites extended, if you think this sounds unfair Im sorry we have a system and I think it works nicely. If anyone has any question that is not a request, and does not make me think you wear a tinfoil hat please pm me. If it is any of your business I will give you an answer. Past that its a private board and by definition what we do is private. Sorry for anyone's feelings this hurts.

Haahaaha! Remember....I said I had not gone there...and I was telling the truth...I was just saying that the Army uses IP Masking....not even what TYPE of IP masking....
I DID have to take an ethical hacking course as part of my job training once tho...was quite interesting.....
No...I have no interest in anything soundboard related. Could I break in? Probably...I have a LOT of computer experience....but it's not my thing as I have said......I got no issues with any of that...I just want to preserve Inforoo and the vibe here...and my friendships here and not see it split into a million different factions...THAT is MY motiviation. I could care less what anyone says about me here or anywhere else.....I know who my real friends are....and I know what's important to me. That's what I will always fight for.....

I don't get it. Bamabelle, you talk of other people "letting it go", then why don't you take your own advice? Cause you seem to be one of a few that are intent on shining the blazing bright light of the internet on whatever the hell shadowy dealings a few might think are going down over at Soundboard. Should we make an announcement? Will that shut this up for good? Probably not, cause you want to be able to make your "jokes" about it, but they aren't jokes cause no one's laughing at them and your , cept the same folks that can't just let this go along with yourself. I explained the best I could to you, all of this in a PM a little while ago, but obviously that wasn't good enough. I will not have a few people go around telling us how we mods should be doing our jobs, and act like they are entitled to know anything and everything that is going on on inforoo and beyond. We are the mods here, and if there isn't respect for that, there will be consequences. Is that clear enough for you?

Well I belong to a fishing board. It's an open board. Anyone can join, but none of you fish enough, so you'll just look like a bunch of googans. You could hang out in the off topic forum, but none of you have what it takes to keep up. We'll do 10 pages in 10 threads before lunch on a Monday. That's more posts than inforoo does in a week. Except for a real post whore like Meg, you're all a bunch of lazy slacker commie hippies that just couldn't keep up.

Okay, question for the mods. Last year the board crashed for a while when the lineup was being posted. is there anyway to prepare for that this year? If not we have the inforoo facebook fansite to meet up.

That event was due to the fire at the building where proboards houses the servers. It wasnt a traffic issue.
