So when do the bands usually stop playing? Also I see a lot of people don't like STP. I'm not a fan, but just curious as to why people don't like them.
I thought they were a rip off of all the other popular and less-popular "grunge" bands of the early nineties, even as a young'n, I personally don't like anything Scott Weiland does, and it doesn't help that the radio has never stopped playing their music on a constant basis. Most over saturated band of the era, imo.
Pretty weak lineup overall. I bought tickets before the lineup came out cause I thought they'd have some good acts for the 10th anniversary. Not sure if I'll go now. Although there were only a handful of bands I thought were good last year and we still had a blast. And partyin in New Orleans is a ton of fun too.
If I decide not to go, I'll have two tickets for sale for $100 total if anyone's interested.

^ VERY disappointing initial line up... and I think that's what drove most people away... But Jesus.
I cannot fathom a festival with REM, NIN, Mars Volta, TV On The Radio, Erykah, BUTTHOLE freaking SURFERS (fer cryin' out loud, when's the last time you have seen these guys live?!?!?!?!?!?!?)....
With the new additions, I'm highly considering going. The intial lineup did not impress me at all so I just kind of ruled it out... I'll have to talk to my friend to see what she wants to do. We were seriously talking about going see Ben Folds and Cold War Kids in Houston that same weekend, but...I don't know. We'll see.
^^^Oh come on! Like there is a decision You get Cold War Kids AND>>>EVERYONE ELSE at VooDoo....Mars Volta...NIN...Grace Potter...Theivery Corp...Ghostland...TV on the Radio....Rev Horton Heat...Dumpstaphunk...Big Sam....Dirty Dozen....LMAO!! It's AMAZING!! The variety this year is just over-the-top...truly if you can't find SOMETHING you LOVE....you just don't like music people....
AND....you get to hang with us! Brunch is a DEFINITE...haven't decided where yet...AND of course we hit cafe du monde almost EVERY nite after the last show to start the evening off right...bengiets and cafe au lait! Then we go...wherever! Looks like a smaller group of Roosters this year....but we may have some new VooDoo peeps with us too and some festie newbies so that should be fun! Come on...you KNOW you wanna! ;D
Well it's not a matter of finding someone I love because there are definitely a few. Ghostland Observatory is at the top of that list. My main thing at first was that I had already seen most of the bands that I would go there to see. Then Mars Volta and Tv On The Radio got added.
So, I talked to my friend today. We decided that we are going to do Voodoo. I'm going to start getting more familiar with bands that I kinda sorta know but would like to hear more of. I'm definitely pumped for Saturday.
I can't believe I've lived in Louisiana all my life and have never been. This is going to be fun!

I might make this one Maddy. My 17 yr old nephew loves NIN and I have a place to stay.
One question - what the hack happened to Death Cab being on the lineup? I saw them at 'Roo but was looking forward to trying to get a closer spot so that I could enjoy it more...
Yeah really, they just dropped off, I almost forgot about them until you said something. I didn't get to see them at the roo and was looking forward to making up for it since everyone was really raving about them. If the choice was to drop them for the additions I'll take that.
So, who's getting excited?!? I sure am! I mean, we've only got a few weeks to go! I can't make it on Friday, but will definitely be going on Saturday and Sunday. I CANNOT wait for Ghostland Observatory! I keep telling all of my friends that are to Voodoo that they have to check these guys out since their performance at 'Roo is one of the best shows I've been too.
FREE TICKETS!! I've got a pair of tickets that I'm not gonna be able to use. If anyone knows anybody who wants to go, but can't afford to, shoot me a message. I'd hate for them to go to waste.

Oh....I got Mars Volta!! ;D Or should I say....they got me! ABSOLEFFINLUTELY INSANE!!! The singer jumped down into the photo pit RIGHT in front of me....grabbed me, grabbed my camera and was singing the whole time, posing...totally insane!! ;D I was so in shock I couldn't even get a shot off till he backed off a bit he he stayed in the pit for a minute or two...then went out in the crowd and surfed for a few seconds before coming BACK into the pit and back on stage....TOTALLY the highlight of the festie for me....the girl in front of me in the pit was like "Did he touch you???!" I was like "TOUCH me?? He GRABBED me AND my camera!!" LMASSOFF!! ;D
Soon as I get through all three thousand or so shots from the weekend I'll try to post a link to my website or a least a subset of it.....
