For those wondering, All Points West appears to be the name of the festival being held in NJ's Liberty State Park the same weekend as the Vineland Music Festival.

One thing I'd say in Coachella's defense is with nine festivals and counting, it's nice to see they went out of their way to get all new headliners. I'd like to see Bonnaroo do that.
This festival isn't as big as I thought it would be, though I love the electronica acts that have been included. Some amazing names. As for the headliners... Jack Johnson? That's pretty poor. Seeing Roger Waters do Dark Side of the Moon could be amazing.
B and I are still trying to decide whether we want to hit this one up or hit the East coast version.

I said it in the Bonnaroo rumors thread, it applies just as much here- Jack Johnson getting a headlining spot doesn't surprise me. I don't know if he's going to tour (I assume he is) but, if so, it will be among the 10 best selling, or whatver, of the year. He will probably headline at least one other festival this year, as well.
A question about Coachella/Waters- Beyond 'Dark Side', how much time will he probably get to play?
I was very surprised with the lineup. I thought it would be a lot better, but there are definitely some very cool bands going! I figured I'd be trying to figure out any possible way to make it out there this year, but now i'm not so upset to be missing it. Also, it's SO expensive, and since they use ticketmaster the extra fees will be ridiculous. I also read that camping costs extra!? What!? OUCH!
ill b there 2nd year, but its no roo' lol.. but its fun to get out to cali for this crazy fest if you can afford it ..worth it imo, flights for 256 dollaz and whatever the tix cost so not TOO bad but ya know if you can do it do it....fun to dance your butt off after langerado b4 roo and echo...hehe..and i dont remember paying extra for camping last year but im a stoner so o well lol

Whith the less than stellar line-up this year(in my eyes..)makes me wonder if the masses will head to Tenn.?Roo my sell out quickly in 08..gettin a little worried about not gettin' tix..but we get like that every year around this time...
Hah! It's amazing how their attitude towards Bonnaroo has changed over the years. I remember back in '04 they would completely crap all over it, calling it a hippie fest with terrible artists. I guess everyone agrees that Bonnaroo has gotten better and better. But the same can't be said for Coachella, can it?
When I saw last year's lineup, I about crapped myself. Seriously...I think I may have sharted a little.
this year, my reaction was "What the efff?????"
I'm starting to wonder if they stacked their lineup too much last year and lost a ton of money, so they had to cut back this year and jack up the ticket prices.
I think Bonnaroo should book Jack Johnson and give him a day slot on the What stage. He'd have just a long a set as Coachella, and I'd much rather see him with the sun shining down than in the evening. It'd also be a little slap in the face for Coachella. "Ha! Your Friday headliner is playing during the day at our festival! In yo face!"
Aside from Roger Waters the other two headliners are bizarre to say the least. Portishead are very good but where've they been? Jack Johnson headlining? That one does boggle the mind.
There are a lot of bands appearing at Coachella this year that I would like to see though: The Verve, Fatboy Slim, Spiritualized, Madness, Reverend and the Makers, Cold War Kids, The Streets, Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris. It's a shame the headliners are weak.
"I want you to notice When I'm not around You're so fücking special I wish I was special But I'm a creep I'm a weirdo What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here" -Radiohead
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” -Benjamin Franklin

I am pretty sure that I heard on the mexican teleconference that he would be playing the entire dark side along with other songs, so I think that they would give him more time than what they normally give their headliners. And what a weird way to announce a line-up, on a mexican radio station. Just odd.
The line-up for Chella this year is pretty weak. The headliners are not real headliners, except Waters. People are pissed over at the Chella board, as they should be. I would be dissappointed too, especially when they see that alot of the bands they wanted to see will be at the APW fest. At least its not that hard of a decision to not go to Chella this year. I will be fine just checking out random blue room moments like the past couple of years. I really feel like Coachella peaked in 2004 and 2005. Whereas Bonnaroo has expanded its base and gone after more musically challenging acts since 2004 or 2005.
Coachella is a beautiful setting and a very well run festival. But since I have gone a couple of times, they really needed to bring out some big guns to bring me back, especially at the ticket price of $270 pp. Thats crazy. I hope that does not mean that Roo is going to heavily jack up their prices. I wonder if Roger Waters caused alot of that ticket price increase? It couldn't have been Jack Johnson.
Well, at least there are plenty of festival options this year. Hopefully, we will be getting the APW, Bonnaroo, Lolla, Vineland, and Sasquatch line-ups in the next few weeks so that people can start making travel plans for the summer. Not to mention the Radiohead U.S. Dates.
Spooky, are you throwing out old school Van Damme movie references? Karma for that.
I feel badly for the folks who had their hearts set on a stellar lineup for Coachella. It's not that terrible of a schedule, but in comparison to past years it's pretty meh. I'm really curious to see if (and how) Vineland pans out in light of APW.

I'm finding it a lot more dificult to consider going to this after seeing how much it would cost. Tickets are $269 plus fees, then another $55 to camp...it's expensive without even considering getting to/from California and buying shit out there.
Against the backdrop of the higher price, this lineup is somewhat lacklustre. Some of it sounds so good, though.
Yeah...you have to wonder if expanding the festival to three days was a bad idea...
The more I look at it, the more I like the lineup. And honestly, I think there are probably still a few sub headliners left to be announced (there are major gaps in the poster near the top).
That said, it's hard to ask people to buy tix to a festival that's banking on several acts that would play second tier venues in Austin, a mid major market.

The price is crazy. $269 a pop with $55 to camp. Or else if you get a hotel, you end up paying close to $200 a night for a 2-star hotel room. I find it funny that the per day passes are $90 per day, but the three-day pass gets you a discount price of $269. Thats right, a $1 savings. And I feel that personally, Saturday is the weakest, which they probably did on purpose to make people go all three days.

Coachella's lineup is really underwhelming this year. Especially with Jack Johnson as a headliner. I don't think hes suited for a night slot - he's more suited for a daytime slot... at the farm.
Looking at the top 10 acts each day for 2007 vs. 2008 lineups by billing:
Friday Bjork vs. Jack Johnson Interpol vs. The Verve The Jesus & Mary Chain vs. Raconteurs Arctic Monkeys vs. The Breeders Jarvis Cocker vs. Fatboy Slim Sonic Youth vs. Tegan and Sara Faithless vs. Madness DJ Shadow vs. The Swell Season Peeping Tom vs. The National Brazilian Girls vs. Animal Collective
Saturday Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Portishead The Arcade Fire vs. Kraftwerk Tiesto vs. Death Cab for Cutie The Decemberists vs. Cafe Tacuba The Good, the Bad and the Queen vs. Sasha and Digweed Travis vs. Rilo Kiley Kings of Leon vs. Dwight Yoakam Gotan Project vs. M.I.A. The Rapture vs. Hot Chip LCD Soundsystem vs. Cold War Kids
Sunday Rage Against the Machine vs. Roger Waters Manu Chao vs. Love and Rockets Happy Mondays vs. My Morning Jacket Air vs. Spiritualized Willie Nelson vs. Justice Paul Van Dyk vs. Gogol Bordello Placebo vs. Chromeo Kaiser Chiefs vs. The Streets Damien Rice vs. Metric The Roots vs. Denny Tenaglia
