I'll bet the N.J state police have a field day with people on the way in... they dont play..
That was my FIRST thought when this thread was started... I have always thought of them as the most hardass awful in the nation... and have heard plenty of stories to back that up

they are far worse than any other state police officer i ever encountered, and we were stopped in tenn on our way to roo last yr . i thought the tenn state police were real nice compared to N.J State Police
It's actually a bit closer -- with no traffic on the backroads, you can get to Vineland in about 45 minutes from AC. Of course, we know there'll be no such thing as no traffic come August!
I lived in NJ for 15 years, traveled between AC and Philadelphia almost daily and never had a problem with the state police. Vineland, though...I've heard some stories.

Here's a new news article (from the Cumberland Vineland Daily Journal) discussing locals' feelings about the event: tinyurl.com/3aesvn
Some interesting points: - Nearby Bridgeton hosted a folk festival for over 20 years (right up until 2006) - There will be a vintage sports car racing event that weekend in neighboring Millville, so if you're planning on booking a hotel room, don't wait until the last minute - The Hitler mustache is alive and well at the Wingate Inn (see sidebar pictures )

If you're going to Vineland, do yourself a favor and don't shop at the Maintree Commons. From the Vineland Daily Journal: tinyurl.com/3bep8x
The owner of Maintree Commons shopping center said he intends to sign criminal complaints today against a city man who allegedly stole lawn signs protesting the proposed Vineland Music Festival from the property.

And even more NIMBY (not-in-my-backyard) assholery, also from the Daily Journal: tinyurl.com/2ryaz3
"We're not being alarmists," Marion said in an interview Thursday. "We're being realists."
Because I'm sure they've been to many a festival and know what to expect....
"I think there's a lot of people who just don't know what to do," said Marion, who has a 4-year-old son and 23-month-old daughter. "Everyone feels that there's no way to oppose this, and that shouldn't be how government works."
Last I checked, this wasn't on public property, correct? I'd be a little bit more concerned for my own privacy if local gov't was doing anything about how I use my land...
The group will consider several options to try to pull the plug, including possibly filing a lawsuit to try to block the festival, Marion said.
"It's not that we're against rock concerts," said Steenland, 63. "We're against it at this particular site."
^^^Obviously he doesn't need the money it would bring in huh?
Geez......B'ham, HSV AND NOLA all hold the festies ON PUBLIC PROPERTY!! (City Parks etc).....granted they are all non-camping (wouldn't really be feasible to hold a camping event in a city park etc....) but still.....come ON peeps....
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
you honestly have to take that thing with a grain of salt. i should have said that. sorry. they dont look to to hard at u.s. festivals. i thought the metallica thing would be pulled off and the zepp rumors move wayyyy up. but this just happened recently. just call em as i see them. though i could see that happening.
- the 'master plan' for the festival will be released 1/17 - acts will be announced sometime in March - local college students are fighting the good fight - facts vs. FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)
I'm very excited for this festival. I think the only festival that I've been to on their first year was Warped Tour. This is on a totally different scale. I'm very interested to see if the Northeast can hold their own with the other big festivals!
