There is a hostel right by Grant Park. I dont know its name but its the cheapest place to stay other than a friend's floor. Based, on the lineup I think I'm going to be charging for my floor. Oh, and if you have a car there are plenty of places to park along the L so you dont have to pay outrageous downtown rates if you dont mind a 20 minute trip to get it.
Crap...just saw that you were too old for the hostel crowd. Well there are a couple of options. If you dont plan on doing any after shows I'd suggest getting a hotel in the south suburbs and taking the metra into the city everyday. Its cheap, parking will be at the hotel, and you can catch the metra within a few blocks of the fest.
Chico, I really aprreciate your help. Karma coming your way. Due to rising gas prices, it may be cheaper for me to fly. So, I'm going to book a cheap place near the airport. Hopefully the L picks up at airport and goes near Grant Park. That or I could dye my hair and get a fake ID and try the hostel. You know your old when you want to get a fake ID to be younger. ;D Thanks again, David

I havent seen anything really scheduled anywhere after early july right now. I keep a pretty close eye up here. I'd say early may. I'll definitely post if I see anything.
Friday, August 03rd: At the famous Metro (near Wrigley Field), Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! headline with Cold War Kids and Elvis Perkins opening (18+, doors at 9:00 PM). Sound Tribe Sector 9 appear with DJ Kevin Barnes at the House of Blues (18+, doors at 10:00 PM). Ghostland Observatory appear with Matt Roan at Schubas (21+, doors at 9:00 PM). Heartless Bastards will be at the Empty Bottle (21+, doors at 9:00 PM). And the awesome (seriously, don't miss it if you can!) Roky Erickson & the Explosives will be at the Abbey Pub with The Last Vegas (21+, doors at 9:00 PM). Saturday, August 04th: Metro hosts Cafe Tacuba with Apostle of Hustle (18+, doors at 9:00 PM). The Cribs will play the Empty Bottle (21+, doors at 9:00 PM). The Black Angels along with David Vandervelde and Illinois will be at Schubas (21+, doors at 9:30 PM). At the Abbey Pub, Particle and 56 Hope Road will play (18+, doors at 9:00 PM). And rounding out the weekend's after shows will be Lupe Fiasco, along with M.I.A. and Emily King will be at the House of Blues (18+, doors at 9:00 PM). For out of towners, going to any of these clubs will be a rewarding experience as each represents the best the city has to offer in showcasing music.

i just hate that theres no camping. it would be so much more fun and such a better experience. i mean they have the right bands....when are they gonna man up and bust out the camping abilities?

the whole thing about camping at festies is it makes you a part of the festival. you are there for all of it. ya know having to go and stay in a hotel and wake up early and fight chicago traffic to get there just doesnt sound very fun. id rather wake up and unzip my tent and see a bunch of happy people walking around and being a part of one big beautiful thing.
